Rose Miller was born and raised in north central Pennsylvania, spending much of her youth on a farm with her family. After marrying her husband, Hal, they moved to north central Indiana where they resided on a 75-acre horse farm. Most of her life has been shared with animals of many kinds. She was the manager of their horse boarding facility, has raised and shown Tennessee Walking Horses for over 30 years.

She has been a horse show judge. She is an artist, the mother of four children and grandmother of two, all of whom share her love and respect for animals.

Rose retired from showing and breeding horses in 2006 and began writing about all the animals in her life from childhood to the present. The first book, The Horse That Wouldn't Trot, is about the horses. The second one is about her mules, the third about the dogs.

She and her husband moved to Prescott, AZ in 2012. Her new book GIRLS CAN BE COWBOYS TOO! is a compilation of true stories told by her Western women neighbors. Kate eventually learns more than she really wanted toknow about her estranged father and his private detective business. Part of thebaggage she inherits is his partner, Sam Garrett, a hard-drinking louse who'smore comfortable solving cases with his fists instead of deductive reasoning.Kate's intention is to sell Sam her father's half of the business then returnto her so-so life in Philly.
