Author Bio:
Greg Hickey started writing his first novel the summer after he finished seventh grade. He didn’t get very far because he quickly realized he preferred playing outside with his friends.

Eight years later, he began to find a better balance between writing and life. He wrote the early drafts of his first screenplay Vita during his last two years of college. Vita went on to win an Honorable Mention award in the 2010 Los Angeles Movie Awards script competition and was named a finalist in the 2011 Sacramento International Film Festival.

Mr. Fro, as his students love to call him, is a public middle school teacher in Southeastern Pennsylvania working primarily with the special education population. Fred is a proud husband to Julie and father to three amazing children Leah, Freddie, and Danielle.

​It is out of the love for his children that Mr. Fro’s stories have come. While spending quality time reading to his children at night time, what became evident was that the Froehlich children were all going to be amazing readers. The passion for reading at bedtime made it a challenge to find new books which would lead to the creation of the title character Frobble. Improvising stories to entertain his children about the miscreant behaviors of a pesky child, Frobble, the Froehlich children would start to request “Frobble Stories” instead of traditional books at night.

After attempting to craft a method for helping his students to increase reading and writing proficiency, Mr. Fro came up with the idea to have his students write books. They would write a minimum of 30 pages and eventually publish them through a digital self-publishing software. The idea was initially met with resistance but when Mr. Fro agreed to take on the task as well, it would allow many students to show incredible growth and buy in during class time.

The challenge to produce the book for his students resulted in the motivation for the Frobble Series. The experience has helped Fred to identify a new passion for writing stories to inspire children based on values such as loyalty, honor, respect, friendship, and healthy social and emotional bonds.

James Heritage was born in Washington State, as the fifth generation with the first name of James. He is the third generation of James to also be a storyteller, though the first to publish a story.

James began writing in the early 2000’s time frame, citing how much easier it must be to use word processing programs rather than having to write longhand, or have to use a typewriter.
After decades of prolific reading, and working for others, James says he read a novel so poorly written it was shocking that it had been published. He was convinced he could write a better story than that, so one day he opened his word processor program and began writing. Months later, he finished the first draft of his first novel.

Now, fifteen or so years later, James has over twenty novels finished, including science fiction, thriller, action-adventure, western, and fantasy genres.

“Nobody warned me this writing thing was addictive,” states James. “I can’t seem to stop! No matter how busy I am with other projects in my life, I somehow always keep writing. I just love how the story begins to take shape and flow, and how the characters come alive.”
Maybe it was the influence of seeing his grandfather’s handwritten manuscripts of colorful stories from his life as a resident of Washington State in the early 1900’s. Maybe it was thrilling to the idea of the western his father wrote and shared with him. Somehow, though, the storyteller bug bit hard and deep, so James just keeps writing because he loves it so.

“I am not trying to win any contests, here,” James says. “I am not trying to compete with anyone in any way. I just want to tell a good, entertaining story. A good story does several things. It entertains, it teaches lessons of many sorts, and it enlightens others to ideas they may have not previously contemplated.”

“I am thankful for every single time someone reads one of my stories,” James states. “If someone is entertained, or is able to learn something, or has their imagination excited by a thought or idea, that is something special.”

Author Bio:
William W. King (Bill) was born and raised in San Diego, California. He has a B.A. from Pomona College, an M.A. from Humboldt State University, and a Ph.D. from Arizona State University. Early in his career he taught biology and zoology at several universities, including St. John’s University, Arizona State University and the University of Hawaii.

Switching gears in midstream he made a transition to high technology and had a 25 career in telecommunications with ROLM, IBM, Siemens, and Cisco Systems where he had a wide variety of roles in sales support and product design and testing.

Bill has been retired for eleven years and spends his time as an avid reader, writer, and model builder. Currently he resides in Los Altos, California.

Author Bio:
Jack Lugar worked for more than a decade in Los Angeles as a television writer and producer. Jack’s writing credits include the Warner Bros./FOX sitcom “Wanda At Large,” “From the Top” for Family Theater Productions, and several projects for comedian Louie Anderson’s company, Louzell Productions. Most recently, he has been a panelist and/or jury member for Heartland International Film Festival, Indy Shorts, and International Mobile Film Festival.

His recent work includes the creation of the children’s chapter book series, Katz Pajamas, about an extraordinary cat detective. Currently, Lugar is writing a young adult fantasy series which includes the titles Sessi and the Gates to Hel and Sessi and the Race to Odin. In addition, Jack is the author of the humor book The Starving Artist’s Diet and co-author of Hollywood Break-In: Launch your Entertainment Career. He also holds the distinction of being selected as a writer for the Warner Bros. Comedy Workshop and has received recognition from the Disney/ABC Writer’s Program, Slamdance, Scriptapalooza and The Page Awards.

Jack has been a guest lecturer and adjunct professor at Anderson University, Taylor University, Azusa Pacific University, and the Act One Writer’s Program in Los Angeles.

He joined the full-time faculty at Anderson in the fall of 2016 and teaches on the topics of screenwriting, TV writing, storytelling, cinema studies, and producing for film and television.
