About Accidental Resurgence?: The Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway in West Texas: How Oil, Raw Materials, and Agriculture (Tried To) Save the Railroad Industry on the South Plains at Midcentury

What could the oil industry’s relationship with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway teach us about finding new ways to profit when challenges arise?

In April 2020, I released Accidental Resurgence?, which is my fourth book. Now, you might wonder why we should study the railroad industry in West Texas. Midway through the 20th century, the survival of the AT&SF relied heavily on its relationship with the petroleum and petrochemicals industry. In the process, the rail industry modeled a new business strategy that allowed it to survive well into the 20th century and–almost–to the dawn of the 21st.

One couple, a pending divorce, and a baby who needs a family…
No matter how hard Kate Malone strives to be perfect, everyone she’s ever loved leaves. She foolishly believed “I do” meant “forever.” Now, her wedding ring is in a jewelry box, and she’s alone once again. But when Kate and her soon-to-be ex-husband become the sole guardians of an infant, divorce is not an option with a new baby counting on them.
Jared Reed loves Kate more than anything—even if he did push her too far. Now he’s determined to keep his promises to his best friends and especially to his wife. A marriage of convenience sounds rather inconvenient, but Jared will do whatever it takes to get Kate back and provide their new little girl with parents who not only love her, but love each other, too.
Parenting brings them closer, but their undeniable attraction makes Kate want to keep her distance. Jared, however, won’t give up on having the family and marriage he wants. Can Jared prove to his wife that he’s the husband she’s always wanted before it’s too late?
* This is a revised, expanded version of a book previously published as Marriage for Baby.
These men know what they want, and love isn’t on their list. But what happens when each meets a keeper?

While Mia takes a job to support them, Ben stays in school. On a day that begins like any other, there is talk of an attack. The target: Ben’s school. He introduces her to a group of drop-outs, where Mia meets the witty and rebellious siblings Vi and Phil, who become allies in her search for her brother.

Hello, Everyone has A Story By Sheila Kovach

About Hello, Everyone has A Story By Sheila Kovach

Wonderful stories of life in our modern world with messages of hope,
forgiveness and faith.

During daily walks, I have gathered a lot of thoughts about my fellow walkers. Oftentimes I have thought, “What’s their story?” as I have passed by them and said hello. The manner in which a person responds to a greeting is quite telling. Watching a person’s mannerisms, eye contact, and general facial expressions tells a passerby a lot. These 40 short stories are a fictional reflection of the day-to-day stories that anyone could be experiencing as they walk the daily walk of life in this modern time in America, in the beautiful park with the oaks. Hello won the Pinnacle Book Achievement Award for 2020 for Short Stories.

The Call of Magic – Book One of the Fool’s Journey by A.R.C.

The Call of Magic – Book One of the Fool’s Journey by A.R.C.

Freshly graduated from high school, EMMA LIE has never let go the betrayal her father served her. On the eve of her college departure, burdened with grand designs, Emma finds herself branded by a strange mark.

Bewildered by its appearance, Emma becomes distracted, then suspicious, of a captivating boy named THIES KRAUSMANN. Suspecting he bears the same symbol, she brings him closer and, amid a passionate moment, demands the truth from him. His cryptic answers skew her reality forever. Magic is real. The impression on her arm is an invitation by FATE.

Called by magic, invited by Thies and his mysterious colleague, Emma refuses their offer to join a cabal of magicians.

An unknown assailant chooses that hour to strike, and Emma is thrust into the world of magic, stolen away from her home even as the aggressor orders the kidnapping of her mom.

They’re transported to the Citadel, the stronghold of the magic Legion. Emma seeks reassurance from Thies, her only lifeline in that strange city. Compelled to trust him, pressed through Orientation, and shown the terror of the Merim, Emma wants nothing more than to return to her life. The secret war being waged by the Legionnaires beyond the Well in the Land of Magic is not her destiny.

She is told by the HIGH PRIESTESS that she cannot return. She is a recruit, now, bound by blood.

Lofty intentions derailed, her mother in mortal danger, and forced into military servitude, Emma struggles, resenting her captivity. Within hours, she alienates the other recruits and, resisting their overtures of friendship, plots escape. Rebuffing Thies’ attempts at romance, pushed to his side by the brutal training regimen, Emma battles for her own heart just as she fights for survival.

Battered by periods of torturous instruction, she finds herself losing ground. Thies is persistent. The moments they shared before her forced entry into the Legion were a reality she never imagined could be hers. Still, she plans desertion.

Strange things occur in the Citadel. The Legionnaires hold her suspect, THE PROFESSOR follows her in the hallways, and a magical parasite has escaped the Land of Magic. When Emma stumbles on a means of escape, her intentions to flee bear fruit. She must find the time and power to explore a mysterious set of tunnels. Days pass, and though Emma had originally shut herself off from friendship, she finds her teammates are as persistent as Thies. Her feelings for Thies intensify, but she cannot abandon her mother, or the life she had planned.

Emma is ordered to help clear the dangerous parasite. In a show of tremendous magic, the parasitic goop forms into a man-shape, claiming it will find her just as she and her companions annihilate it with their combined powers. Yet remnants of the slime are discovered after. It has not yet been destroyed as they had hoped. Despite this setback, Legion life must go on.

In Legion rite, Emma is paraded before the veterans at a ball. Dressed to perfection, plied with alcohol, Emma’s heart gives in. She and Thies fall into love.

In the hours after, Emma is caught in her daily attempts to escape.

Imprisoned, struggling against Thies’ heartbreak, Emma is forced to explain her actions. She learns that the parasite has become aggressive, that it is sentient, even. At the promenade, it abducted one of her teammates. Those who were closest to her disappear one by one.

It comes for Emma, but is driven away.

Intent on saving her friends, with Thies at her side, Emma agrees to act as bait, engaging in a dangerous mission. She joins the High Priestess and the Professor, racing against the opening of the Well. When Thies is captured, Emma has no choice but to chase after him. They enter the Land of Magic.

Confronted by the parasitic extension of a Merim’s power, the pair engage in a desperate battle against a powerful foe. And just when they have won an astonishing victory, another Merim arrives.

Emma dispatches the proxy of the first, and the second Merim disappears. Thies lies on the ground. Though unwounded, he rises inexorably into the sky. Fearing for his life, Emma clings to him with desperation, but is knocked unconscious. She awakens to a world without her love.

Unknowing whether Thies is dead, she vows to return him to the land of the living.

The Dangerous Son

For the first time in his life, Spenser wants something for himself.

Unfortunately, a decades-long conspiracy is playing out behind the scenes, and he’s quickly left questioning if his affection for Poppy is genuine or a carefully crafted illusion created by the one person he thought he could trust.

The Dangerous Son is a angst-filled romantic suspense novel set in a world where deception is the norm and the truth can’t be trusted.

Beware of Hypocrisy: Who Is Teaching Us What?

About Beware of Hypocrisy: Who Is Teaching Us What?

After almost two thousand years of making assumptions and inventing doctrines, churches have subtly changed the teachings of Jesus into something different from what is presented in the Scriptures. This will be demonstrated in “Beware of Hypocrisy” by analyzing the teachings of Jesus regarding a given topic as presented in the Bible, and then contrasting it with what churches teach and do regarding the subject.

Silver Investing in the Silver State by Mickey Dee

About Silver Investing in the Silver State by Mickey Dee

THE STATE OF NEVADA is one of the friendliest mining jurisdictions in the world. It’s one of the largest producers of silver in the United States of America. The nickname, “Silver State,” is very fitting for a state that has been a silver production leader since the 1800’s.
In the coming weeks, months and years, silver speculators expect the gold/silver ratio to go from it’s all time high of over 120 to around a normal level of approximately 60. The gold/silver ratio is just the amount of silver ounces it takes to purchase a single ounce of gold. The potential is huge! In order for the ratio to go down the silver price has to go up much higher. The world monetary system is in question and the fundamentals have never been better for silver to shine.
Will the state of Nevada lead the 21st century Silver Rush? The silver trade is currently quiet but that will change along with the price of silver. In the book, Silver Investing in the Silver State, Nevada Mining Companies Ready to Shine, you will see every company doing silver mining in Nevada. The coming silver boom and today’s opportunity in silver investing just may be the ultimate investment buying opportunity over the next decade.

I’m Mobius

About I’m Mobius

“Thar she blows!”
One of many iconic phrases from, Herman Melville’s, American classic, Moby Dick. Whales and whaling became mankind’s first, “oil boom”. The great blow of breath that whales create breaking the ocean’s surface was just as meaningful to whalers as gushers are to modern day drillers, money in the bank. Sperm Whales were particularly prized, and hunted to near extinction, as their great humps contained an enormous quantity of the finest oil known to exist.

Moby Dick, is a story about a great White Sperm Whale who fought back, and in doing so, injures Captain Ahab, the man who would have him for a trophy. Melville’s classic tale begins after this first, fateful encounter. It is more a story of one man’s downward spiral into madness as hatred and his unyielding need for revenge slowly consume him.

Mobius, is a small, lyrical story as told from the whale’s perspective. This is the tale of a young white whale and his first encounter with the emotionally crippled, Captain Ahab. A battle to survive against all odds. His tale, is one of loss and redemption, of being born different and the need to feel accepted.

Unpublished: Top 18 Tips to Take You from An Idea to Becoming A Self-Published Author

About Unpublished: Top 18 Tips to Take You from An Idea to Becoming A Self-Published Author

How long as an itch plagued you – that urge to write a book?

“I’m going to write my novel someday,” you’ve chanted to yourself, not once or twice.

But this “someday” seems to have no actual date. It has already begun to look like no day at all.

Why?

What keeps you from writing the book that wants to be written?

Like most wannabees – yes, those who talk about being a writer, reading blogs about it, going to writing conferences, even dressing like one, but have written no book. Usually, the first obstacle is:- You don’t know where to start. Sure, you want to tell a story, but you don’t know what story to tell.

There are occasions you’re lucky: an idea comes to your head, you write, but your mind is blank somewhere along the way. The next sentence, the next paragraph, you could not figure it out. Eventually, you gave up – piling up this minor piece that you just wrote on the shelf of unfinished works.

Somehow, you completed one. How exciting!! But the usual doubtful questions crept in as you considered it.

What makes me think this will work? I’ve published nothing before, let alone a book.

How am I sure that what I wrote is good enough?

What if I post it and nobody likes it?

Familiar voices, right?

Listening to it – as is your usual move, you gave up and stacked it this time, in a shelf of unpublished works. And the cycle repeats.

The fact is, a book is tough to write. You should look with suspicion at anyone who claims otherwise. He never wrote a book before or wrote a bad one.

But the excellent news is: it is not really beyond your control that which is hard. Since people – who itched the same way and shared the same anxiety, wrote a novel, you can do that too. “Do not think… what is hard for you to master,” as Marcus Aurelius says, “is humanly impossible; and if it is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.”

How?

With only a few steps – steps proved by thousands of best-selling and outstanding authors – the likes of Stephen King, J. K. Rowling, Jerry B. Jenkins, Robert Greene, Ryan Holiday, and so on, you too can get there.

This is why the book Unpublished is being published – it’s released only for you.

Unpublished aims to:

1. Aid you in writing your first book or novel. Every once in a great while, people voice a desire to write a book, but very few do. With this book, you will!

2. Immerse you in all the essentials of writing your first book. It will teach you to build a routine of good writing, write a thrilling first and end line, edit your first draft, and much more.

3. Empower you to become a Self-Published Author with the requisite tools – from MS Word to Scrivener to Google Docs to Evernote et al.

Also, this book will show you how your gift of writing will make room for you – paying bills, clearing debts, growing your business, affecting lives, and so on.

Now it’s up to you. Eighteen steps are set out in this book to move you from an Idea to becoming a Self-published Author. No more excuses. You can finally tell your own unique story.

Author Bio:
I am a busy wife and mother who has been writing for most of my life. Beginning in May of 2020, I have finally started the process of publishing some of the items I have written. Most of my writings are focused in the romance and erotica genres, particularly those that feature women who are romantically or physically involved with two (or more) men. Most of my stories are purely of my own imagination, although many are inspired to a slight degree by my own experiences.

I took a hiatus from writing for myself when I enrolled in grad school and it took me several years after graduation to start writing again. The farther I delve into my full-time career, the more I appreciate the writing process.

While my stories are often an expression of fantasy, I strive to create realistic characters and feasible situations. I feel as though readers are able to become more invested in a story when they can picture everything occurring.

When I’m not writing or working at my other job, I’m almost assuredly spending time with my family. My husband and I stay very physically active and I do my best to keep my kids engaged in something beneficial to them as much as I can.

I also love to bake and have recently discovered (thanks, husband) that I’m a dog person. Particularly big dogs.

In The Unknown Himalayas, from the Field Notes of M.G. Hawking

About In The Unknown Himalayas, from the Field Notes of M.G. Hawking

Free on Amazon 7/18 – 7/19/2020. Explore Profound Discoveries in a Forbidden Region of the Himalayas. On an extended trek through a closed and largely unknown inner region of the Great Range of the Himalaya, in an isolated valley surrounded by vast snow fields and towering ice peaks, explorer M.G. Hawking chanced on an unexpected discovery, a beautiful small village. On visiting that community he encountered men and women possessed of remarkable knowledge and truly extraordinary abilities, ones virtually unknown to the Western world.
From the Publisher: Our team at Wisdom Masters Press has worked with Hawking to compose a series of books based on his field notes and journals recording his experiences in the Himalayas and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (the Himalayan highlands of Tibet). This was a complex project; during his five year exploration of those regions, Hawking accumulated many hundreds of pages of hand-written journal entries and field notes, all of which had to be sorted, cataloged, indexed, and organized in a manner conducive to producing books from such a treasury of material It was a fascinating if formidable task, one which so often filled us with a deep sense of wonder and inspiration.
