About One Way by Tom Barber

NYPD Detective Sam Archer is on his way home on a Sunday afternoon in New York City. He’s been out of the field for over three months due to a broken ankle and a serious bout of pneumonia from a previous case, but has just been given the all clear for a return to duty, starting tomorrow. My story:
“I wanted to be a physiotherapist but after a short stint at a clinic, I realized I didn’t like touching people. I went into academic research instead and published scientific journals and co-authored a couple of books.

However, that type of work, although important, wasn’t quite my passion. Plus, academic research can be a bit dry for my taste. So, I transitioned into quality improvement work within healthcare, leading culture change, focusing on empowering clinical practitioners, developing partnerships that enable systems-level change to provide seamless, high-quality patient care.

After my daughter was born, writing became a means of therapy. I searched online for other Canadian born Chinese mom bloggers who were trying to preserve a part of their culture with their children and the results were limiting.

I said to myself, “I’m sure there are other moms who feel this way. If I put myself out there, perhaps I can start making those connections so others can feel a sense of community.”

I write about things to hopefully empower others to have a voice, to feel connected and to raise awareness about issues that never got talked about when I was growing up (only felt them).

Doubtless many chapters of Tibet’s ancient history will lie forever silent under her remote and desolate soil, yet extant traditions exist and have been too readily set aside; academic pedants love to brand as mythical the accounts which have endured the millennia, and which mischievously persist.
The study of antiquity is properly accounted worthless except as it may be made living knowledge which illuminates and enriches our contemporary life. Owing to a remarkable series of events in an isolated region of the Himalayas, I encountered an extraordinary group of people and, through those encounters, was privileged to learn that much of the secret knowledge of the ancient Zhang Zhung culture has not only been preserved, it is powerful, richly illuminating, and utilized to this day. As the reader will discover, these shrouded secrets formulate the explorations in this book.
As one of their most illuminating concepts, those traditions relate that there is a group of esoteric teachings—the ‘Four Portals’—which set forth the true nature of physical reality and techniques of powerful elemental magic, or “sorcery.” The first traces of the teachings are thought to have appeared as part of the lore of the pre-Tibetan Zhang Zhung culture that arose in Tibet several thousand years ago, but may have originated far earlier. Being a forbidden body of knowledge, said to convey enormous powers, the teachings disappear from the historical record for countless centuries, not to reemerge until the 7th century A.D. in the arcane scriptures of the ancient pre-Buddhist B’on religion.
According to those ancient traditions, the teachings of the ‘Four Portals’ were formulated by the earliest known “Buddha-like” master, Tonpa Shenrab Miwoche. The B’on traditions relate this historic event as occurring as early as 18,000 to 16,000 B.C. Although still shrouded in mystery, our most recent research indicates that the extant evidence places the earliest date of the Zhang Zhung culture at about 6,000 B.C., although the date of 18,000 to 16,000 B.C. may indicate the existence of a true Zhang Zhung or pre-Zhang Zhung culture existing prior to the ‘Younger Dryas Boundary’ cataclysmic event that effectively erased early civilizations from the historical record.
Much like our most recent historical Buddha, Shenrab renounced his life as a prince of the royal family to become a monk. Over a period of “many years,” the traditions relate, he gained access to secret knowledge that had been imparted, recorded, and hidden away some two-thousand years earlier by an entity known as “Gekhoe.” With this knowledge Shenrab achieved enlightenment and “otherworldly powers,” then later composed a comprehensive body of teachings to instruct qualified seekers on the means and techniques of attaining the most elevated wisdom and power. That secret knowledge is explored in this book.

About Philanthropist: The world we did not know!

Synopsis of ‘Philanthropist’:

A brother and a sister embark on a terrifying journey of not only studying the most notorious mass murderers in history, but meeting those murderers face to face with the use of advanced technology…

For Blake, it was a chance to meet some of the people who made history, albeit in a bad way. What made them tick? Could they explain their crimes, those atrocities? What was in the mind of a man like Jack the Ripper or Hitler? Could they justify their actions? He and Kate had always had this desire to collect rare artefacts and fine art objects. For Kate, it was a chance to help further study the human race, a part of her earthly mission.

Blake and Kate have always been very close. Kate has a few secrets up her sleeve, and at the beginning of the story Blake is none the wiser. Even though she has used a wheel chair since that accident when she was a child, Kate is actually able to walk and move, and this is just one of her sinister secrets.

A more sinister secret is that Kate is an alien, one of a race called the Guardians, and her earthly mission is to study the human race and try to assist before humans destroy not only themselves but their planet (Planet D1, known to us as Earth).

With this in mind, Kate and Blake recruit experts in their respective fields: Gabe, Lena, Phillip and Karoline. Having built a high-tech lab with simulation and time travel technology, they begin to collect subjects (Kate, using her powers, does the actual collection. Everybody else thinks it is the technology that is in use). Ranging from Hitler, Idi Amin to Jack the Ripper, the most notorious serial killers, dictators, facilitators and perpetrators of mass murders/genocides are assembled in the lab.

While this is going on, Kate finds herself having to keep her true identity and her powers a secret, even from Blake. Until she learns that Gabe is actually a powerful god in charge of many planets and races, and that he is the most powerful being she has ever encountered. By this time, Gabe and Lena are in a relationship and Lena is expecting his child, who is born towards the end of the story.

Blake finds himself getting sucked into the dark world of serial killing, beginning to imitate none other than Jack the Ripper, but he doesn’t tell anyone, including his sister. One of the experiments on the subjects goes wrong as a mystery woman breaks into the lab and brutally murders two of the subjects. This mystery has not been solved by the end of the story.

When Kate learns from Gabe that her programming may be destroying her beloved brother, she comes clean about her real identity and informs Blake that she is going back to her home planet. Blake is shocked by the revelation of who his sister really is, but manages to regain his control and brings to an end the project. Gabe and Kate then leave the earth (Planet D1) as the story ends.

“I wanted to create a multi-faceted, thrilling story – but one that has its foundations in real-world people and events,” explains the author. “So, I decided history’s most evil killers would be the perfect cast to underpin a story where aliens, secrets and truths run rampant. My name is Lyall De’Viana. I was born in Kenya in the ’60s and as a family, we moved here to the UK for a better life. I am single and have never been married. I have lived most of my life in London and think this is one of the most wonderful cities in the world.
I often spend nights out in London. Anything to do with music is a passion. I love it and need it for inspiration.

I have spent most of my life involved in sport until a very unfortunate event that changed my life completely. I have been trying to turn that event into a positive and found that it evoked dreams and nightmares. Well, that’s what I thought at the time. They were scenes playing out in my mind which I had no idea at the time. My first fiction novel “PHILANTHROPIST” It was a huge surprise if only I knew.

It took a few years of writing down on scrap bits of paper the scenes that ran into the hundreds, some of which I ended up losing. LOL, I received some help for my trauma and began to realise that my mind was being held back by someone.

After recognising this, I managed to overcome the difficulties and embarked on what my scraps of paper where. Lo and behold, the beginning of a novel. I would one day love to share not just my story but my early drafts of what PHILANTHROPIST looked like. It was laughable but kept on growing. I can say that I am a very sociable person. A responsible human being that has developed a great sense of humour to life’s little cheats and look forward enthusiastically “As a student of life” to the challenging times ahead.

My friends say that I am a very funny interesting man with a good sense of humour. I love to meet new people who are happy to meet me. Friendship is such an important human value, we often discover new things about each other that my skills continue to develop in so many ways.

My current goal I’m striving for is to complete my next novel “Life Trader” Sure I’ve had many bad experiences, like most people. I have just found a way and am grateful to be able to grow and become the person that my beautiful girlfriend Caroline wanted me to be. R.I.P.

Wars, the industrial revolution, slavery and empire building – all it does for Norbert and his Boss is push up their overtime budget, create more paperwork and cause them to stress eat chocolate biscuits. Not only that but the human’s blatant disregard for their habitat means braving the really long ladders to make repairs to the ozone layer.
After millennia of aggravation from the human race, The Boss decides that there is only one way to really grab their attention and force them to be nice to one another. He answers the one question that has plagued mankind since the beginning of time ‘Why are we here…?’

Voted World’s Greatest Dog Dad (by Arya), Marcangelo Benevenga resides in Toronto, Canada. Arya and Marc both enjoy two walks a day, and lots of naps; their House Sigil is Arya holding Marc’s shoe in her mouth. Marc and Arya recently appeared in a Netflix documentary about dogs and this is Marc’s first book, based on how they found each other.
