About The Forgotten Bomb

This is a story about revenge against Russia. Revenge using a bomb, and not just any bomb but the most powerful bomb in the world, a bomb of their own creation.
In 1961 Russia built and exploded the biggest thermonuclear weapon in the world, a monster 58 Megaton bomb, over 3000 times larger than the bombs that blew up Hiroshima and Nagasaki. For ongoing bragging rights, the Russians secretly built two of these bombs and stored the second one at a nuclear storage facility where it remained safe and virtually forgotten for 28 years.
In 1989 Ukrainian conscripts stationed at the facility, accidentally find the arming codes and decide to steal the big bomb and destroy Moscow. Their motivation for doing this was to pay back Russia for the long list of horrific abuses and suffering that Ukraine had endured over the years under them (Holodomor, Chernobyl, etc.) and secondarily for their own harsh treatment while in the Russian Army.
Although the conscripts amazingly are successful in acquiring the bomb, They, unfortunately, are not able to detonate it. Having to abandon the effort, they successfully hide the weapon. Two years later when the Soviet Union fell all the conspirators immigrate to the USA.
In 2022 the successor to our 45th President signs a new Salt agreement with Russia and during the process of publicly dismantling some of the other bombs in Russia they discover to their horror that the old giant bomb is missing.
After a lengthy and thorough, investigation, the Russian GRU and FSB determine the theft was over thirty years ago and that the conspirators were Ukrainian conscripts who had since immigrated to the USA.
To assist their investigation in finding the bomb, President Putin calls our President and request the help of the FBI to locate the criminals in the USA.
At the President’s request, the FBI assigns a top field agent, Peter Kanowsky, who is of Ukrainian descent, to oversee the search team in the USA.
Unfortunately for the USA and especially for Russia, during his investigation, Peter not only learns the location of the bomb and how to set it off, but he is also turned mentally and emotionally by his repeated exposure to hearing the ongoing litany of the horrific suffering that Russia had imposed upon Ukraine.
Yielding to the persuasive coercion from these emigres that he interviewed, and the encouragement of his own family, Peter ultimately decides it is his duty and obligation to his Ukrainian ancestry to go to Russia and personally set off the bomb.
Did he succeed and did he have any help? Surprisingly he has almost too much help as unknowingly to him; his plans meshed almost perfectly with the machinations of an ongoing high-level Russian plot.
What was different about their plan versus his? He wants to set off the bomb immediately, and they want him to wait three months for the perfect time, during the huge celebration in Moscow of Putin’s 70th birthday to make sure every one of importance is in town.
With the help of Anna, a beautiful and sexy lady to keep him happy, they persuade him to wait.
So – what happened then? You will have to read the novel to find out. Maybe the ending is, “Happy Birthday President Putin from Ukraine” or maybe not?

About ORDERS are ORDERS

Most of us have heard about “Black Operations” where our servicemen engage in covert missions around the globe such as the Seal Team 6 takedown of Osama Bin Laden. The reason we hear about these missions is that there are almost always press leaks.

There have been many stories written by the participants of these leaked operations, but what if you were involved in an operation that was so secret and embarrassing to the government that it was never leaked? How could you tell your story? How could you begin to tell the world what it was like at nineteen years old to become enmeshed as an assassin in such a murderous clandestine operation? That is what this book is about. It is a vehicle with enough fiction added for me to finally tell my story.

The mission I was involved with, that amazingly was not leaked and has remained secret for over 50 years is the Marine Corp Recon involvement in “Operation Phoenix” in North Vietnam back in 1958-59. That was before the start of the Vietnamese War, in fact, this unlawful action might even have been the trigger for the Vietnam War.

“Operation Phoenix” was the inane creation of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). When first implemented, it was their solution to stopping the spread of communism in Vietnam. Based on their distorted logic, they concluded the best method to use was to parachute Marines into the larger towns and villages in North Vietnam and have them kill all of the people there that were teaching the communist doctrine.

“Operation Phoenix” was resurrected later in 1965-72 with missions of an again appalling but of a different and less criminal nature (they were killing Viet Cong supporters during wartime) were conducted by Army Special Forces and are well documented. What is not documented is the unlawful Marine Corp Recon actions 7 years earlier. To avoid embarrassment to our government, all mention of these earlier activities has been expunged from the archives, and it is a totally blanked out 2-year segment of Marine Corp history.

This book is in two distinctive parts. The first part is the fictional story of a boy and girl that have just graduated from Stanford, who ended up traveling to Vietnam due to the boy’s dying mother’s urgings to investigate hidden American war crimes. During their investigation, they accidentally discover the memoir of a young Marine executed for multiple counts of murder in Hanoi 48 years earlier. It then continues to track their determined efforts and hurdles to corroborate and prepare this manuscript for publication.

The second part is the document they discovered. It is based on my memoirs as a Marine Sharpshooter (Sniper) and provides an accounting of those secretive black operations in North Vietnam. It starts with a glimpse of my childhood that led up to my joining the Marines and my training and progression to eventually becoming a Sharpshooter in Marine Corp Recon. It then follows my later personal experiences conducting those illegal “Black Operations” with my Recon Team, doing High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) parachute jumps into North Vietnam and assassinating many Vietnamese government officials and Russian officers.

At the end of my involvement in the operation in North Vietnam, it continues to track my life through several bizarre months I spent surviving with Dayak headhunters in central Borneo, but most importantly during that time, my realization of the magnitude and significance of the crimes I had committed.

And yes, there is sex in my book — with anything having to do with Marines there is always sex!

About The Storyteller’s Student

Jack gets up to give a presentation only for words to fail him. Standing there in front of his class, he could only wish for the ground to open and swallow him up. The fear of public speaking drives Jack to avoid any opportunity to run away from his true calling. During a chance meeting with The Storyteller, she offers to coach him on public speaking.
Meeting with her in the office, Jack learns to see public speaking as an opportunity and not an obligation. She explains to him the benefit of seeing public speaking as an opportunity to showcase your work, educate or influence others. She asks Jack to explain the concept of GDP to her and uses this to show him how to take advantage of opportunities. He enjoys teaching her as he had more expertise in this than The Storyteller.
Jack desires to know why he is afraid of the stage. The Storyteller explains that when he gets on the stage, he suffers from shakism which can be caused by the presence of real or imagined experts in the audience. She explains to him that one of the ways to overcome this is to have allies within the audience, who will be like cheerleaders. She reminds him of her reaction when he talked about GDP. She continues to describe to him that there are different types of speakers and offers him a quick test to ascertain his primary speaker type.
To Jack’s amazement, he realized his primary style to be storytelling. The Storyteller encouraged him to build a rapport with some people among the audience even before going up to speak. She also explained to him the value of being introduced by an MC as that builds up his credibility. Also by mingling with the crowd, the speaker is able to evaluate people’s knowledge on the topic as well as estimating the audience size. This info will help in the speech delivery.
By telling him a fairy tale, The Storyteller describes the structure of a story. A good presentation begins with a bang as you connect with the audience, set the scene and still give the audience something to jolt their curiosity. The twist in a story is the part where you make the presentation memorable and help people relate to the characters and their emotions. This culminates with building up suspense in the audience. As her story ends with Iroegbu losing out due to his greed, she explains the role of your presentation ending in a flourish.
Jack gets an opportunity to give a prepared speech during her Story Nights and he successfully gives a speech about the making of coffee. Following up on the speech, The Storyteller explains to him about putting emotions into his voice while speaking to ensure that his words are congruent with his body language. She informs him that his body language speaks louder than his words and explains how to stand on the stage.
Introducing another fairy tale about planting and harvesting, The Storyteller tells Jack that she decided to coach him because she saw potential in him to replace her someday. She uses this opportunity to offer him a job in her organization, to which Jack simply replies – ‘when can I start?’
