Life has been very interesting for me. Perhaps my story will be for you.

First there was a short dull job in an oil lab, then an exciting time in the air.

Three short, varied stints and one long one in different Universities.

A great, fulfilling job in the British Civil service. Lots of travel all over Europe, North America and other places.

Navigation – Test Flying – Study and Research- Customer Service – Nuclear Waste- Trainer Development – Postgraduate Medical Education.

There have not been many poor bits and very few sad ones. So, if you’re addicted to angst and crime this is not the book for you. It’s generally upbeat and cheerful – more about the steady bonds of love at home and efforts to make life easier for myself and at the same time for others at work. I hope you enjoy reading as much as I did living the story.

I have been a high school teacher and wrestling coach for the past 21 years. As a Head Coach, my teams have won close to 400 matches, and we have won multiple county, region, and tournament championships. Six times I have been named the Baltimore Sun and the Annapolis Capital Gazette Anne Arundel County Coach of the Year. Before beginning my teaching and coaching career, I coached one year at the college level. As a competitor, I was twice a Pennsylvania All-State wrestler and three times a Lancaster-Lebanon League 1st Team All-Star. After high school, I earned a wrestling scholarship. I was a four-year Division I starter, twice a Pennsylvania All-Conference wrestler, a Division I East Regional champion, and competed in the Division I National Championship Tournament.

I have been involved in the fitness industry for the past fifteen years as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and a strength and conditioning coach for high school and college athletes. I co-owned a CrossFit “Box” for three years. I have held certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), CrossFit L1, CrossFit Football, Bigger Faster Stronger, and USA Weight Lifting (USAW) Sports Performance Coach Level I.

Teaching, coaching athletes, and training people of all ages is what I love. Within all three areas, it is not only an obligation but also my mission to make people better. Better students. Better wrestlers. Better people through exercise. For me to do that, I am continually working on getting better. If I am not working to be better, I cannot set an example for them and help them get better. Because of this, I am always reading, learning, and developing strategies and tools to be my best self so I can help others be their best selves. I am consistently challenging myself because I know when I do, it makes me better. I have run over 20 marathons and ultra-marathons, competed in dozens of CrossFit competitions, hiked the North Rim to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in 10 hours, participated in hour-long burpee challenges completing 668 burpees in one hour, and regularly train and wrestle with high school and college kids at 44 years old. I do these types of things because they make me a better coach, teacher, trainer, husband, and father to my two kids.
