- Pain, Epic Love and Poetry – Oh My! - Ummm...
Well, I’m 28 (yeah), with 15 Years of Experience (as of this post)... I’m an Artist but I can’t draw. Music is not my Life but it is necessary. I’m dogmatic but I don’t expect or need anyone to agree with me. I have many names and I am many very different things to many people. Some will never see how the piece they see could ever fit to ones others see. I’m complicated but I wish I wasn't. I don’t have any children but I have a pet I am just as protective of. I have lived in 4 separate countries and seen 14 in total so far. I love language in all forms. I like to communicate. English, Spanish, German and Latin are the languages I have studied or spoken to one degree or another and hope to be fluent in proper English someday.
I’m considered an intellectual by some, fun or trouble by others and sweeter than honey by still others. I have NO idea at what point I stopped being cool. I used to be Cool. …I’m pretty sure I was… I have too many interests to list them all here & many of them rob me of what little Focus I feel I have (oh look, Squirrel!!!). Yes, I can cook but I realize that if too many people find out, I’ll be expected to do it all the time, Forget That! I have an extremely sinister sense of Humor, so if being laughed at for falling down a flight of stairs (Once I think you're ok), offends you …pay more attention next time!
I sing, I head-bang, I dance, I yell and generally direct traffic with my middle finger. If you make too much noise or keep blinding me with a cellphone in a movie theater I WILL stand up and yell at you or accidentally spill my large drink on you as I pass by. I’m tough and weak, truthful, autonomous, playful & very cerebral (possibly too much for my own good). I am a Motorcycle Rider not a Mind Reader, so if someone has a problem, I Expect them to man/women-up and say something smart to address it, not act like an overexcited, butt-head of misdirection. I believe people can work through anything and develop amazing powers in the process.
I am a natural chameleon – I can fit in from black tie to black combat boots. Life’s just much more appealing to me that way. I like fiction but usually have some kind of manual in relation to psychology on my desk. My favorite Artist is Giger. I like Live Music, Gardening, making someone special feel it, Black-Tie Affairs, Historical Reenactments, Shoes - (Yes, SHOES), Confident people (NOT pushy), shooting people in the forehead with rubber suction darts, long conversations, teaching Furbies to swear, camping, martial arts, doing "guy" stuff, sweets, Coooooofffffffeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, singing in the shower, Gothic Architecture, Lots of Pillows, Watching movies while cuddling, Reading, the smell of bleach in a toilet and Maniacal Laughter. People usually notice my mouth first! People either Adore me or Hate me - rarely does the adjudication take very long.
I love all kinds of movies. Adore Burton. I dig Sci-Fi Fantasy like UNDERWORLD etc. – I’m a sucker for a respectable horror movie - - any movies that enthuse thought or have a completely unanticipated twist at the end are great. As for music, I like anything but "WHINY" country or "Gangster" rap - Mostly Rock, Industrial and Top 40. I love White Chocolate!! OH, and CHEEEEESE! I like Chinese, Mexican and Italian foods…. and anything HOT! I always need Excellent Music, Hot Water, A Fast Computer and GOOD COMPANY! My Favorite Quote is "Life's a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death." I’m usually underestimated and I definitely prefer dogs.
There, how's that?
- The Swan Bonnet by Katherine L. Holmes - Katherine L. Holmes lives in Duluth, Minnesota, where she does much of her writing in the winter. She also works with used books. Her first published book, The House in Windward Leaves, became a Finalist in the 2013 Next Generation Indie Book Awards and in the NIEA awards. She's had three other books published. Those and more about her can be found at her website: https://sites.google.com/site/katherinelholmesauthorprofile/
- Drums (Southern Seas Series) - I’ve always been intrigued by what took people to remote places so it is no surprise that my stories are set usually set on isolated islands in the southern seas, especially since I lived on one myself for many years. “My” small island was surrounded by never-ending sea - I can still feel the desolation of watching a rare ship sail of the bay.
That island of mine was first inhabited over 4,000 years ago as Polynesians left “Havaiiki” in search of something better or simply different and found strings of spectacular islands and atolls rising out of the sea. They travelled on fragile trimarans that should have sunk but survived the long voyage. They were courageous people, intelligent and beautiful with a lusty appreciation of sex.
Then Europeans came - traders and missionaries, whalers and sandalwood gatherers. Most of them were men who might well have thought they’d died and gone to heaven because of all the sex and erotic dancing under the moon, but by the end of the 1790’s the missionaries were coming and brought wives with them. They set up schools and reduced the language to writing. Polynesian script became an art form.
The clash of cultures would have been enormous - how to express joy or grief, for example. Beliefs about sensuality and promiscuity were miles apart and so was the attitude towards possessions - Polynesians took it for granted everything was to be shared while “sharing” was tantamount to theft to the Europeans. To put it simply, Polynesians believed this was right and that was wrong and Europeans believed differently. This is the world where my heroines and heroes live.
Luke Wainwright is an artist attracted by Polynesia's vibrant light, but he hadn't expected to bring a wife along with him. He was forced into a marriage with Hester because by the strict rules of regency England he had played the fool once too often. ("Who is He?")
A young man relies on others to choose the perfect wife for him, only to suffer the consequences. His wedding night is a nightmare - and that is just the beginning. ("A Perfect Wife for Peregrine Winthrop")
Two wounded people have been acquainted forever but only truly meet when tragedy strikes and he sails to her aid. (“Unexpected Hero")
In "Drums" - Amelia is a destitute teacher who witnesses the slaughter of a man she has never met yet agreed to marry, while Guy thanks God for his wife's betrayal - without it he would never have prepared for the worst.
"Mistake" is still being written. Joshua, one of the seafaring Churnsides, blithely believes he is destined to live happily ever after with Reverend Browning’s daughter Susannah - until she makes a mistake he is unable to forgive.
Running through many of my stories is the theme of miscarriage - not surprising, I suppose, since about 20% of conceptions miscarry. Hester Wainwright has to wait years to give birth to a healthy babe. Charity Trescothick’s experience of tragedy causes weight loss and cessation of her periods, only with Sebastian’s love and care does she begin to heal - and gain weight. Susannah Browning is eventually happily married but still lives under the cloud of her mother’s many miscarriages.
- Maggie’s Turn by Deanna Lynn Sletten - Deanna Lynn Sletten writes women's fiction and romance novels that dig deeply into the lives of the characters, giving the reader an in-depth look into their hearts and souls. She has also written one middle-grade novel that takes you on the adventure of a lifetime.
Deanna's romance novel, Memories, was a semifinalist in The Kindle Book Review's Best Indie Books of 2012. Her novel, Sara's Promise, was a semifinalist in The Kindle Book Review's Best Indie Books of 2013 and a finalist in the 2013 National Indie Excellence Book Awards.
Deanna is married and has two grown children. When not writing, she enjoys walking the wooded trails around her northern Minnesota home with her beautiful Australian Shepherd or relaxing in the boat on the lake in the summer.
- Forgotten - Frances Pauli writes speculative fiction, usually with touches of humor or romance, which means, of course, that she has trouble choosing sides.
She's always been a fan of things outside the box, odd, weird or unusual, and that trend follows through to her tales which feature aliens, fairies, and even, on occasion, an assortment of humans.
More information on her work and upcoming releases can be found on her website:

- Pelican Bay - Jesse Giles Christiansen is an American author who writes compelling literary fiction that weaves the real with the surreal. He attended Florida State University where he received his B.A. in English literature. He wrote his first novel, "About: Journey Into The Mystic" after spending a summer in Alaska working on fishing boats. His newest novel, "Pelican Bay," focuses on a very old fisherman, Captain Shelby, and the mysterious happenings linked to him surrounding a nosy, sea-battered beach town (release date: July 20th, 2013, Imajin Books). One of his literary goals is to write at least fifty novels, and he reminds himself always of something that Ray Bradbury once said: "You fail only if you stop writing."
- Sophia:Within by Jordana Lizama Reyna - Jordana Lizama is a new and exciting author who has just released a fantasy love story based on Greek mythology.
She was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. She is 24 years old and still resides in the Mexican capital with her husband, Charlie, and daughter, Sophia. Her second child is due to arrive this August, 2013.
Jordy’s love for reading came from her father who made her and her brothers read an hour a day. She opened her eyes and her heart to literature from the very first time she read Little Women, which was the first book her father bought her. Like Sophia, Jordy had an insatiable appetite for both fiction and nonfiction throughout her school years. Her voracious reading was her foundation for experimental writing. After many failed attempts, Sophia – Within finally came to life.
Sophia – Within has been in the making for the last ten years. Jordy’s writing began as a process of trial and error. She was not formally trained as an author, but has sharpened her skill as a self taught writer since her early teen years.
- How To Be A Retired Entrepreneur - Sean C. Castrina, founder of newbizcoach.org, is a true entrepreneur, having started over 15 successful companies over the last 18 years. His companies have ranged from retail, direct mail marketing and advertising to real estate development and home services.
- AN UNLIKELY PAIR by Monya Clayton - Monya Clayton lives in a small town in Queensland, Australia, with her husband and two spoiled cats. They lost their old dog last year, but alas, feel too old to go through the puppy thing again!
She believes herself fortunate to have attended school in the days when grammar and spelling were taught properly. Her parents were working class, which at that time meant she received no formal learning past the age of 14. But an through an incurable reading habit and a lasting curiosity about the world, she considers herself enjoyably self-educated. Her husband is wonderfully talented with his hands, and built their house. Monya was the unskilled labourer and painter on that project.
Monya decided to be a writer at age 6, first put pen to paper at age 11, and began to send stories to magazines at 13. In those days one actually received encouraging feedback with the rejection slips. But marriage at 18, the arrival of a family of four, the raising of them, and the fact she often acted as hubby's unpaid secretary, meant she published little but a few short stories and magazine articles during those years. She doesn't regret it a bit, it simply meant she was sixty-one when her first book was published. She's a late starter, like her late mother, who discovered at age sixty-two she was an artist.
Her children are all achievers in practical fields, and artistic talent seemes to have jumped a generation to many of her thirteen grandchildren. She thinks they're all wonderful but her opinion may be biased!
Her hobbies are reading - well, much more of an incurable habit, as we all know - gardening, and attending art shows with eldest granddaughter.
- Sand and Magic - Born in Dublin, Ireland, Geoff Nolan is an author of inspirational and 'feel good' novels. His influences include Alistair MacLean, Leon Uris, Jack Higgins and Charles Dickens, as well as the movies of Frank Capra.
- Defending Destiny – Book 3 of The Warrior Chronicles - Leigh Morgan is a native of Wisconsin, a graduate of Marquette University Law School, a fifth degree black-belt in Okinawan Shorin Ryu karate, and a writer of fiction, both contemporary and historical, with strong romantic elements. Leigh writes about things she knows and loves about life including: family ties, living by a personal code, and loving with a loyal and fierce heart. Leigh's characters are quirky, witty and wise, although they seem to get themselves in trouble quite a lot on their way to a happy ending.
Leigh is an avid traveler and lover of all things Celtic, Scottish in particular, so many of her stories have ties to Scotland; some in fact and some in myth and legend.
Leigh is pleased to announce the recent release of DEFENDING DESTINY, Book 3 of The Warrior Chronicles.
- 32 Delicious Salad Recipes for Rapid Weight Loss: The Way to Slim Figure by Nicole Taylor - Hi, my name's Nikole.
Cooking is my favourite pastime and I'm crazy about the very process of cooking, but the best reward is happy faces of my family and friends trying my culinary creations.
Since I'm into cooking I have gathered a pile of recipes found in various sources, such as books and magazines, taken from my relatives and friends. Sometimes the recipes appeared just from nowhere (when replacing some ingredients I could get something new, but unexpectedly delicious).
All the dishes were tested and approved by me and members of my family.
The aim of writing the book is to collect the most favorite and appraised recipes and to share them with you, my dear readers. I will be happy if you find something useful for yourselves. Besides, I'll be looking forward to your commentaries and additional remarks to my recipes. I wish you all gastronomical success and...
Bon appetite!
