I love the outdoors, there is so much creativity to look at, I'm always amazed at the vast world the Lord gave us. My most favorite pastime is fishing and of course, reading, not necessarily in that order and often together.

6. Crossroads Serenade by Laurie Adair Grove - I started writing at about the age of nine, but it wasn't until recently that I completed my first novel, Crossroads Serenade. My parents always encouraged me to write, especially my mother, who was an art teacher and also wrote a little herself. One of the most precious things I own is the book of Jane Eyre, given to me by my parents when I was eleven, inscribed "To our favorite author." Growing up, my family of seven spent the summers at Boy Scout Camps, as my dad was a camp director. I spent so many hours roaming the woods, sometimes alone, sometimes with my sisters, that I found it difficult to stay indoors during the school term. I have come to enjoy the study of antique photographs, and antiques in general. I love to collect and read historical newspapers. My husband of 37 years, George was stationed in Japan in the Marines, and our time there fostered an interest in both of us of for Japanese culture and food. We hope to go to Japan again one of these days! Over the years, marriage, children and working outside the home left me only tiny scraps of time here and there to work on books, though I did manage to take creative writing classes, meet other writers, and get some short stories completed. At last my dream has come true and I have finished my first novel! I am living in western Oregon with my dear husband, taking care of my dad, and seeing my children and grandchildren as often as possible, for they are all the lights of my life. Oh, I'm also writing the sequel to Crossroads Serenade, which is titled The Pink Victorian, due out Fall 2013. I hope you enjoy my books!
   
7. Disarmed By Love by Vicki Keener - So here I am, sitting at the computer, pondering what to tell you and how much to tell you about me and my life. My thoughts are random and disjointed musings. I decided that if I were to ever write my autobiography, I'd title it: “Random Musings of an Old Broad”. I live in South Carolina in a cat house. Uh, I mean, a house with four cats, felines, three females and one male. Shame on you if you got the wrong impression. My husband lives here with me to stress the point further. Most of my life was spent in Pennsylvania, but I've lived in New Jersey and New York, the state, not the city. I've visited all but one of the 48 contiguous states and have no idea why I didn't get to Idaho. Reading is a passion of mine and has been as long as I can remember. Before I began to write romance novels, my reading choices evolved to authors such as, John Grisham, Lee Child, Harlan Cobin and Nelson DeMille. I read Harlequin and Silhouette novels years ago, moved on to Barbara Taylor Bradford and Judith Krantz novels, and that's just a few of the authors I love. Now I read romance novels again. Talk about things coming full circle. Here's a tidbit I prefer you not whisper to family, friends and acquaintances, because it bothers me a great deal. I create my characters, their foibles, failings, personalities and accomplishments. I place them in untenable, provocative, happy and tense situations, but this is the scary part. They talk to me, they keep me awake at night, they demand to have their say. They won't let me alone until I do their bidding. I know, I know, it worries me, too.
