Where Awesome Book Readers Meet Awesome Writers

  1. My Cat Wants Me Dead - Once referred to as Felis domesticus, the cat is anything but domestic. Even cats forced to stay indoors stare out the window, yearning to be on a killing spree taking out every small mammal within a quarter-mile radius.
  2. A Personal Mission Statement: Your Road Map to Happiness - One year ago I was overweight, stressed a little, constantly conscious (read: worried) about my finances and quietly desperate about my relationship with God. I was aimless. I had no plans as to how my life would be in 2, 5, 10 years. I'm a reader. I've read several thousands books in my life - there wasn't much more to do in Poland before the fall of communism. We had black and white TV with only 2 channels; I saw first PC when I was 11; owned my first PC when I was 14. So I had read and this habit stuck with me. In August 2012 I've read a book - "The Slight Edge" by Jeff Olson. I decided to "convert" to the personal development. In the middle of November 2012 I created my personal mission statement and I consider it as the real starting point of my progress. During several months I've applied some self-help concepts and gotten the results - I lost some weight, increased my savings, improved some skills, got rid of my bad habits, developed better ones. I'm pragmatic. A "down to earth" person. I'm not into an artistic expression or beautiful forms. I'm all about the utilitarian, bottom-line results. My books are not abstract. I try to keep away from going mystical as far as I can. Neither am I going deep into theory. It's not just the knowledge we need to get in order to change our lives - the Internet age has proven it quite clearly. What you find in my books are: - detailed techniques and methods describing how you can improve your skills and bring results in specific areas - real life examples - my personal stories So, no matter if you are completely new to the personal development - if you look for the concrete things my books provide exactly that. And they show it on example of an ordinary guy, not some ivory tower guru. I've been married for more than 12 years. I'm a father of two boys and one girl. I'm working full time in the IT industry. And quite recently - I've became an author. My interests are in transparency, integrity and progress.
  3. The Scottish Botanist George Don 1764-1814, His Life and Times, Friends and Family - Marilyn Reid is a Scottish playwright and author of several books. Her recent publication The Scottish Botanist George Don is the result of over 20 years research. Marilyn first wrote about George Don 1764-1814 in a historical drama she was writing in 1990 and determined to write the full biography his life deserved.
  4. 21 Days to Bigger Arms - Born and raised on the West Coast, Grant Michaels has been a private trainer to competitive bodybuilders and strength athletes for more than three decades and has seen countless fitness fads come and go.
  5. Sharing is Caring - Uncle Amon's main mission is to create books that can sustain a lasting effect on children's lives. Whether it be through silly and imaginative stories or real life events, Uncle Amon always instills values and morals for strong character growth and development.

  7. Clean Eating – The Benefits of an Eat Clean Diet by Dottie Copps - Dottie Copps has struggled with her weight ever since she was in her early teens. Now in her late 20’s Dottie has dramatically turned her life around. It was when she finally decided to stop all of the fad diets and take things back to the basics that she started losing dramatic amounts of weight. Not only that, but she couldn’t believe how much healthier and happier that she felt. After taking a close, hard look at herself, she realized that she was a victim of emotional eating. She always turned to sweets and salty snacks, whenever she was sad or mad. After going on the clean eating diet, she has changed how she looks, feels and carries herself. In addition to healthy eating and overall wellness, Dottie is into sports, exercise and spending time outdoors. She is happy to share her knowledge of clean eating with others in the hopes that someone else in her same situation will be able to turn their life around.
  8. Silver Lake by Kathryn Knight - As a child, Kathryn Knight kept her parents on a constant quest to find enough reading material to last her through each week. An early fondness for books about horses later gave way to a lasting preference for both love stories and ghost stories; as a writer, the paranormal romance genre is a perfect fit. Silver Lake, a RomCon Reader’s Crown Award Finalist, was Kathryn’s first published novel, followed six months later by Amazon bestseller Gull Harbor. She lives in New England with her husband, her sons, and a number of rescued animals. Please visit her at www.kathrynknightbooks.com or on Facebook at Kathryn Knight books.

  10. truth - hi, I am Gareth Mayers , a twenty six old male author living in the Caribbean. 11. Sunshine: Diary of An Affair by E. J. Caulder - E.J. Caulder is a suspense writer who loves intrigue and seeing how people react in uncertain circumstances to see how far they will go to get what they want or what they can't have. E.J. enjoys people watching and often looks at people and wonders to what length would they go? Getting in a person's head and finding out what drives them, what makes them do what they do is tremendously fascinating. The drama we find in art often pales to the drama of real life and E.J. tries to capture real life in his writing. The Sunshine series underscores how the most innocent of situations can turn into something more, especially where matters of the heart are involved. Poor choices of the past, self-deception, selfishness, and desperation can make people do things they might not otherwise do but now feel they have no other choice BUT to do. Those factors make for great drama but can also lead to tragedy, as happens at moments in The Sunshine Affair series. The phrase "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction" is true in physics but in love the reaction is far more powerful and devastating than the initial action, which the two main characters experience first hand. Their actions have serious consequences.

  13. Merdeka - Lachlan Gunn was educated in Edinburgh, apart from two years spent in Malaysia and Singapore. He first joined the Royal Navy, and then switched to the British Army where he served with the Kings Own Scottish Borderers and Second Gurkhas (The Sirmoor Rifles). He saw service in Europe, the Falkland Islands and South and East Asia (including a training exercise in Malaysia). He left the Army in Hong Kong and entered the field of commercial security, initially as a Consultant, and then to run security businesses in Taiwan and Thailand. After a brief sojourn in India he returned to the UK where he set up BenAlpin Ltd (his own consultancy). In 2004 he co-founded the European ATM Security Team (EAST) at which 29 countries are now represented. Lachlan now lives in Scotland on a hill overlooking the River Tay. Neil M. Gunn, the acclaimed Scottish writer, is Lachlan's great-uncle. 'Merdeka' is Lachlan's first novel.
  14. A Bid For Love - Rachel Ann Nunes learned to read when she was four, beginning a lifetime fascination with the written word. She avidly devoured books then and still reads everything she can lay hands on, from children's stories to science articles. She began writing in the seventh grade and is now the author of over forty published books, including the popular Autumn Rain series. Her most recent novels are Line of Fire (An Autumn Rain Novel) and Before I say Goodbye (winner of the Whitney Award in general fiction for 2011). Rachel and her husband, TJ, are the parents of three boys and four girls. Rachel loves camping with her family, traveling and meeting new people, and, of course, writing. As a stay-at-home mother of seven, it isn't easy to find time to write, but she will trade washing dishes or weeding the garden for an hour at the computer any day! Her only rule about writing is to never eat chocolate at the computer. "Since I love chocolate and writing," she jokes, "my family might never see me again." Rachel writes Monday through Friday in a home office, often with a child on her lap. She takes frequent breaks from writing to build Lego towers, practice reading, or go swimming with the kids. 15. The Possibilities – Desire – A Collection of Short Stories by Stormy Adams - Stormy Adams lives in Central Texas. Stormy is a single mom, a black belt in karate, loves working in the yard and especially throwing patio cocktail parties. She writes about sexy alpha male heroes and the independent women they are involved with. Of course, heads will butt as they travel down their twisting and curvy road of destiny, making it all the more fun for everyone involved. She has been blessed to have alpha men in her life both as lifelong friends and loves. Some of them are definitely interwoven throughout her books. Some of the characteristics of her female characters are from her closest girlfriends that she has known for more than 20 years. Her stories come to her at the funniest moments, she will hear something that triggers an idea and she is off and running with the story. As she grabs from her multitude of characters, the story develops in her head. She loves a good story and has been known to finish a good book the same night she picks it up. She hopes that you enjoy her stories as much as she does writing them as they unfold in her head.
  16. Castilian Heat - Monica Hart lives in the great state of Iowa, not far from DeSoto Lake. She is married to John and is the proud mother of three daughters and mentor and 'mama' to a panoply of house and outdoor cats. Monica loves reading and appreciates the classics such as Lady Chatterly's Lover and poetry ranging from Byron to T.S. Eliot. Her fondness for ponies is well appreciated by friends and neighbors alike and she one day dreams of owning a horse-breeding farm. Her first novel, Castilian Heat, was inspired by her trip to Spain several years back and she attributes her romantic nature to God, a loving marriage and a wonderful family. www.monicakhart.blogspot.com/
  17. AQUA BLUE by Marian L. Thomas - Author Marian L. Thomas, is no stranger to the world of fiction. With three dramatic and engaging books to her credit: Color Me Jazzmyne; My Father's Colors and Strings of Color, this award-winning author continues to weave colorful stories of emotion and realism, that crosses all boundaries and finds a home in the heart of today's female reader. This has become her trademark.
  18. Beautiful Whispers - I wrote my first short story when I was five, but when an assignment in a lit course challenged me to “rewrite” the last chapter of Jane Eyre I was hooked. I dreamt of going to an ivy cloaked university in England or Scotland, but my health issues forced me to rethink that agenda. Working through and with chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, food allergies, migraines and the scary health emergencies, I managed to finish both my Bachelor’s degree in English and History and my Master’s in Strategic Intelligence. As a child, I wanted to be everything from a veterinarian (can’t stand to see any animal hurt) to an actress (too shy) to an astronaut (not good at science) to an Egyptologist (I wilt in extreme heat – or anything over 70 degrees). Writing makes sense to me. My characters pursue all the subjects that interest me and/or terrify me. I started with screenplays and TV scripts, and my first screenplay placed finalist and semi-finalist in several screenwriting competitions. Loving a challenge, I dove further into the writing craft to study dialogue, description, plot, pacing, story (if there was a book on writing I’ve read it). When I’m not writing, I’m filling up bird feeders, troubleshooting computers, playing games (I’m a freak for logic problems and Tom Clancy video games), reading (anything by Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, Dean Koontz, Anne Rice), watching movies (I personally would like to recommend Joss Whedon be officially named a god). I’ve never met an animal I didn’t love and regularly rescue bugs and spiders. Living in North Carolina and Texas, I became the snake expert and successfully relocated many happy snakes who lived to tell the tale. I’ve lived in California, Arizona, Texas and North Carolina but have felt most at home in Virginia.
  19. Garden Harvest by Lance Swartwood - Biography Lance was born in Binghamton, New York and now he and his wife reside in West Virginia. When he isn't writing, he enjoys his other pastimes of hunting and fishing. He began writing after retirement, and his first book, THE COFFINBERGER MURDER, was about a true incident in Hedgesville, West Virginia. When this book was finished, Lance realized he enjoyed writing fiction much more than he did non-fiction. Not having to be constrained by facts, the author then wrote two Western novels, A LAWMAN'S VENGEANCE and WAR DRUMS AT FORT ELLIS, that, although works of fiction, were based on THE COFFINBERGER MURDER. The three books were then combined into one, THE COFFINBERGER TRILOGY, for convenience. Next, Lance was free to indulge his imagination and fondness for Government conspiracies, and embarked on an action/adventure series centered around a CIA Black Ops team named Alpha Four.
