- 29 Minutes to Feast! Fast, Healthy & Delicious Recipes by Christine Orth and Sofia Pace - Sofia Pace was born and raised in Sicily before coming to the United States at the age of ten. She vividly remembers going with her father to the open-air markets and other specialized markets for fresh produce, deli items and baked goods and watching her mother and aunt cook meals from scratch with these fresh ingredients. Today in southern Italy it is still an almost daily ritual for people to shop at these markets for fresh ingredients for their meals. Sofia enjoys being in the kitchen and experimenting with new recipes, always focusing on making meals as nutritious and tasty as possible. Her cooking is richly flavored with ingredients like garlic, olive oil, fresh basil and other spices, as she stays close to her roots, preparing food with an Italian/Sicilian flare.
Fresh fruits and vegetables are incorporated abundantly in the Sicilian diet, where most children, as well as Sofia, look forward to eating them. Sofia adopted a vegetarian lifestyle several years ago and enjoys being creative when it comes to preparing meatless dishes. You will find some of them in this collection of recipes. For example, check out the Fabulous Frittata Sandwich-- you may be surprised at how tasty artichokes can be!
Christine Orth was born and raised in the United States, but her roots lie further north in Sweden. She remembers her mother preparing a Swedish smorgasbord every year for Christmas Eve and baking the famous “Limpa brod” year round. Her mother also became very interested in nutrition about the time Christine was born. So Christine remembers many of her mother’s teachings about health and wellness. She enjoys cooking and baking, always with the goal in mind of satisfying her family’s taste buds, while nourishing their bodies at the same time.
Sofia and Christine met in junior high school and Sofia was quickly “adopted” by Christine’s mom as her “Italian daughter.” They enjoyed a combination of cultures and foods, Swedish and Italian. They have kept in contact with each other and remained friends all these years.
Now they have come together to share some of their recipes and thoughts in this little cookbook, giving the reader fresh ideas for three squares a day…breakfast, lunch and dinner!
- CARIBBEAN CONCUBINE - My name is Rosita Rubio. My boyfriend and I presently live in a beach community in Mexico. My hobbies are writing, gardening, traveling, teasing and pleasing my boyfriend. I enjoy writing and try to do everything when creating my books. I do extensive research before I start writing. I pick the locations and then try to describe them as they appear to me. I expand my wardrobe by purchasing the clothing that my main female character wears. I do the proofreading and editing. I even make my own covers and use myself as the model. Please write and tell me if you find any flaws in my books. I want everything to be perfect for my readers. In my book CARIBBEAN CONCUBINE I mention the island of Fallen Jerusalem. If I could afford to own an island that one would be the one. If I was going to live in the Caribbean, I would live on Saint Barthelemy. The other islands are beautiful, but Saint Barts is my favorite. I just finished the sequel to CARIBBEAN CONCUBINE titled CARIBBEAN MENAGE A TROIS. If you enjoyed CARIBBEAN CONCUBINE you will love my new book. I just started a third book with a working title of SAINT BARTELEMY MENAGE A TROIS and plan to have it finished before SAINT VALENTINES DAY. My main female character does not speak Spanish, but I do. It might be fun to do some research about Majorca and Costa del Sol for a book in the future. The picture of me was taken during my rubio period. Rubio is Spanish for 'blond.'
