- The Other Side of God: The Eleven Gem Odyssey of Being (Psychological Crisis, Personal Growth and Transformation, Altered States, Alternate Realities, Internal Balance) - 2013-05-26 01:20:08-04
I was born in Washington State, raised in Phoenix, AZ, and currently reside in Oregon. My first profession was a psychotherapist (individual, marriage, and family counseling) treating those suffering from depression, anxiety, panic attacks, post traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, sexual abuse, family violence, and severe mental illness. I employed therapies such as communication skill building, relaxation training, systematic desensitization, bioenergetics, and psychodrama. I have also facilitated stress management, parenting, and self-discovery workshops that have aided in the psycho-spiritual healing of many. Education and training include an M.A. in Ed. in Counseling/Human Relations and Behavior (NAU), a B.S. in Sociology (ASU), and ten powerful months of psychological and metaphysical training in a Tibetan community. I've been a social activist from time to time (very hard) in educational matters, for women, and for Native Americans. Sometimes a woman's got to do what a woman's got to do! I have two grown children, a son and a daughter, now in college pursuing their dreams (my daughter is an author too), while I happily live out the second half of my life, doing what I love: teaching self-discovery workshops, writing, and meditating. With a background in college theater, my experience as a psychotherapist, and my profound interest in freeing the individual from unsavory sociological influence, I write entertaining and sometimes educational books that facilitate personal growth and transformation. I enjoy mixing it up by writing in various genres blending psychology, philosophy, fantasy, dark fantasy, romance, and even horror. I have been writing for twenty-five years, and I plan to write until I die. Writers block? Huh, what's that? My interests (aside from writing) are facilitating self-discovery workshops, composing songs, singing, meditating to classical music, metaphysical realms, philosophical exploration, deep meaningful conversations, playing in the ocean and rain and snow, walking through tall forests, sitting under the stars, (I am so not a party girl), traveling to foreign countries, genealogy, history, quantum physics, and cats. I have four lovely felines (yes, I am the cat lady). I love fairy tales, going outside the box, and reading between the lines. I strive to see what is often missed, and to not miss what can't be seen. There is such a life out there, and in there--beyond all perception! So I close my eyes, feel my inner rhythm, and jump off the cliff of convention. And when I land, though I might be quaking in my boots, I gather my courage and go exploring. Through travel, study, and work, I've gained a rich awareness of cultural differences among people and their psycho-social struggles. I have discovered that oppression often results from the unexamined adoption of outside perceptions. The healing always has been in the individual's stamina to expel out-side perceptions of self and and constructively exert one's unique core being into the world. I am driven to facilitate expanded awareness that people may separate who they are from who they are told to be. Embracing personal power by loving our unique selves in our weaknesses and strengths, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, for better or for worse . . . forever--is a key to joyous living. My motto is: Trust your story. Live the Mystery.
- Roaring Mountain by Shirley Gray - 2013-05-26 01:55:27-04
I was born in England and came to the USA at the age of 20 married a US airman and eventually had four children, the prides of my life. Tucson Arizona has been my home now for over 30 years and I've grown to love the desert and the history of the Wild, Wild, West. For most of that time I've been an antiques dealer involved in many aspects of the business. At first I had my own antiques shop, buying. selling and appraising. Then for many years I traveled to antiques shows all over the Southwest. Now I sell only on eBay. I started writing late in life. It's my new passion and I love it! I only wish I had started years earlier. Roaring Mountain is my first book, and I'm working on my next, and the next, and the next! I haven't much time for hobbies, but I do love to watch the golf tournaments on my big screen, HD TV! I don't know how I got hooked on them for I've never played the game, but everyone has to have an escape mechanism, right? shirleysbook@gmail.com

- Extremely England by Jams N. Roses - 2013-05-26 03:02:14-04
Jams N. Roses is a father of one and grew up in Hertfordshire, England. He has spent a few years living on the Costa del Sol, Spain, and currently resides in Nice, France. He primarily writes crime novels, but has a naughty sense of humor that can sneak its way into his work, so much so that his third scheduled novel release, Extremely England (working title) will be an hilarious, satirical comedy. From the author... "I love the creation of stories, and although I spend days and weeks and months working on a plot, it's the emotions of my characters that I enjoy delving into. My first published novel, 'Get Clean', really has my heart and soul poured into it. Although I feel a bit naked by putting a story out there that contains so much of my life, I'm happy with the book, and a little proud of my first writing achievement. Also available is 'Son of a Serial Killer'. This story was born in my mind when I was going through a difficult phase in my life. I felt let down by the person closest to me, and I was angry and upset. What better way to expel those emotions than to throw them into a book? The story itself isn't based on my life like my previous novel, but the emotions captured within the pages are feelings I had to battle with for far too long. My third release, 'Extremely England', is something completely different. It's a satirical comedy poking fun at society and the way it is portrayed by the media - I enjoyed writing something that wasn't so dark for a change if I'm honest! I am a big film fan, and would have to admit that I have an eye on the 'filmability' of my stories when writing them. One day..."

- What’s French for WTF? - 2013-05-26 03:27:03-04
One upon a time in America, there came bursting into this world a pink baby with a swollen face and a massive shock of dark hair. It was a girl. It was me. It was Gwen Ellery. After that, things got complicated. I was never sure what I wanted to be when I grew up, but I did know I enjoyed learning languages. So I focused on ancient and modern languages in school, and later pursued graduate studies in applied linguistics. I now write full time and live in Germany, but before moving here, I held all sorts of odd jobs in the US, including that of receptionist, hotel operator, telemarketer, phone sex operator, catalog company order taker (I suppose I liked interacting with people without being seen?), baker, English teacher, linguistics instructor, marketing assistant, English composition instructor, writing tutor, petition name collector, Spanish tutor, French tutor, espresso maker, waitress, arts administration lackey, library assistant, executive assistant, screenwriter, essayist, and several other jobs that I can’t remember. I won’t bore you with the details from the rest of my life. Those are best transmuted into fiction, where they make more sense.
- THE LIAR - 2013-05-26 04:12:51-04
Everything changed for me around the turn of the century when it became impossible to continue living the intolerable existence I had been up to then. I was dealt a personal share of tragedy this lifetime rather more intense than most people experience; dark shadows buried deep in the subconscious because that was the only way I was going to survive them. It was easy to concur with consensus agreements that I would do better by denying such things, and for a short while this was so. But eventually the denial became illness and threatened to finish me off. At that point I made the firm decision to heal myself and started to pray. Due to unseen hands pointing me always in the right direction, I began to get well. Healing became my focus above and beyond all other considerations, and still is. The healing process became very quickly a spiritual awakening and I found myself in shamanic circles across the globe, doing regular fasting and meditation retreats and practicing an odd mix of traditional and modern belief systems without which my healing would not have been supported. I wrestled with the demons inside, stared at them directly in the eyes, saw them for what they were, and overcame. At that time I wrote a long book cataloguing my experiences of the healing journey; how I had managed to uncover the cause of my ill health and undo it. However, I was still struggling with the shock of revelation and even though the book was funny and readable, it was deeply cynical with a tendency to rant at the glaring hypocrisies I was noticing in spiritual and healing practices across the board. I have a very analytical mind and I'm sensitive to incoherent thought and dishonesty, and nothing I had investigated or taken part in up until then was free of dodgy, unquestionable beliefs, or the pursuit of wealth alone, or blind and gullible acceptance to leaders, and even outright criminality in some cases. Something told me not to publish and I had learned well enough by then to always take the advice coming from spirit, and so I instead recycled the paper and deleted the electronic versions. It was after I had ditched the book that ACIM (A Course in Miracles) found me. I had no idea what it was saying but from the first moment I started to read it I felt nourished in a way I had never experienced before so I kept going and have never looked back. Life has continued since then, for better and worse, but whatever happens I go on joyfully with an inner certainty that everything is OK; that I am loved, protected and that nothing can ever hurt me again. Christ is my guide now, my big brother, and I turn to him with everything. In April of 2012 I made it to Israel. Sitting at the Western Wall felt like being plugged directly into God. I prayed to Sekinah there, 'Please help us Sekinah, please help us all to rid ourselves of the ego' (which if you're not aware is the essence of the teachings in ACIM). Quietly, a voice said, 'What's that?' Hilarious! Wow. Spirit is so funny, what an amusing thing to say. And also, not only that; of course 'What's that?' Spirit doesn't know what the ego is, we created it ourselves!! Haha! Wonderful. An amusing dinner party story for a particular sort of guest, I thought. In September of 2012 I visited Lourdes for a week to reconnect (I've been going regularly since around 2007 when I found myself miraculously directed there). I was sitting by the river in a café, having a coffee and a cigarette, and suddenly the title of the book came into my mind, followed by the chapter structure, all at once like a lightning bolt from the sky; a soft, kind and loving lightning bolt. And I knew that by writing this book, this book of the liar, I would be answering Sekinah's question. I am Niramisa Weiss. http://www.facebook.com/thatwhichtellslies @niramisaweiss
