Going back to school in her mid-forties, she worked her way through college by starting a word-processing business and taking on ghostwriting assignments. Her professional background includes working as an associate editor and staff writer/editor for several large corporations. In addition, as a freelance editor, she copyedited more than ten books for a local bestselling author. She studied with the late Sloan Wilson, a bestselling author who wrote The Man in the Gray, Ice Brothers, A Summer Place, and a dozen other novels. Jessica won two Educational Press of America awards for distinguished achievement. She has a master's degree in counseling psychology and did her undergraduate work in English and business administration.
