- So You Think You Know…LONDON? 101 Interactive Multi-Choice Questions & Answers - 2013-05-05 05:09:43-04
We are two 50+ year olds (actually nearer 60) from the South-East of England. Although we no longer live in the capital, we are both Londoner’s born and bred and only moved away in our late 20s. However, we continued working in London for another 15 years. We have always found the history of London fascinating, particularly the little known facts. Apart from writing books, our other main hobby is film-making. Over the past 30 years we have made numerous documentary films about the curiosities to be found on London’s streets. We wanted to show both visitors and Londoner’s alike the stories behind the architectural oddities that they rush by every day without a second glance. Our research for these films meant that we came across hundreds of facts and figures and we thought it might be an idea to use these in the form of a quiz book. We didn’t want to just have the usual format of a list of questions at the front of the book with the answers at the back, so decided to make it interactive as well as giving additional information about the subject of each correct answer. We hope you enjoy taking the quiz and, along the way, learn a little more about this fascinating city.

"Eleven Shorts +1," her collection of short stories, is available in Kindle format and on Wattpad.com. Iguana Books published her latest non-fiction book "Concussion Is Brain Injury" at 2012's end. Her main credential to write this book is as a person with a brain injury. But she also drew on her education and experience. She was trained in the scientific method and, from her experience in research labs and research jobs, is schooled in designing, conducting, analyzing, and writing up research papers. As part of her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at the University of Toronto, she studied physiology and neurophysiology, did an original-research thesis on reducing inattention in a child with attention deficit disorder, and conducted a year-long study on food perception in various eating populations and wrote the Abstract. For "Lifeliner," she conducted over sixty interviews, read the literature, and waded through a massive amount of medical data in order to translate the medical-ese into English that the lay reader can understand. Jeejeebhoy is working diligently on her next three novels, and when she is not writing, reading, or taking photographs, she hunts for good coffee and sensational chocolate.

- The Keeper of Dawn - 2013-05-06 01:32:46-04
I first got the idea for THE KEEPER OF DAWN when I was visiting Christ School, an all-boys prep school outside of Asheville, North Carolina. In the short while that I was there, I was struck by a feeling of seclusion. The campus had a gravity all its own, something distinctly apart from family and community. It was this feeling of isolation that gave me the idea of having a school on an island off the northeastern seaboard. And in a way, the island in my book becomes a sort of character that both restrains and empowers the wolf pack of privileged, adolescent boys. THE KEEPER OF DAWN is my debut novel. I live in Saint Paul, Minnesota with my wife and two children.

- Helga: Out of Hedgelands by Rick Johnson - 2013-05-06 02:32:06-04
I am a native of the Great Plains, having grown up on a farm in the Platte River Valley of western Nebraska. I love the wild beauty of the Plains and nearby Rocky Mountains--the too hot, too cold, too empty, too full of life extremes. Typically, the awesomely diverse and the awesomely stark are much the same, even as they are different. Although I have lived in Michigan, North Carolina, and British Columbia, the western plains, mountains, and desert are in my heart. As my day job, for over thirty years I have been a faculty member and administrator in higher education. Teaching broadly in the liberal arts, including creative writing, my professional publications include 28 short stories for young readers. I am a member of SCBWI. As an author, I’m drawn to eccentric, unexpected characters: those who surprise because they hear a distant galaxy, see a different music, create their own fragrance rather than get hooked on a soundtrack; the child who has her own ideas about how the emperor is dressed; the lunatics and rebels who tell stories on the boundaries. Helga’s unusual story will take readers to worlds they never imagined—definitely a whole new ride.
- Reluctant Medium by G G Collins - 2013-05-06 02:40:15-04
Read interview with G G Collins, author of the "Reluctant Medium" May 8, 2013 at http://www.scottmarlowe.com/ G G Collins Bio: Walking several beats, reporter G G Collins racked up a lot of column inches, a few awards and a writing fellowship at Duke University. She never met a story she didn't like, although some interviews were challenging, a few obnoxious. But reporting is always exciting, exploring the rooftops of skyscrapers, meeting in clandestine locations, getting an exclusive story, and occasionally being a tad alarmed at someone's behavior. (Know where the exits are!) It's all in a day's work. Of course, there's the ever present question of how to dress: jacket for the interview with the visiting entertainer or jeans for the aviation hangar story? Forget wardrobe, make sure there are notebooks, recorders and extra batteries. But there was another side lurking, just waiting to write its way out. This side of her personality is fond of the strange, the frightening, the metaphysical. An avid reader since childhood, she began her reading career with Shirley Jackson's "We Have Always Lived in the Castle." Later, she couldn't wait to get home after school and watch "Dark Shadows." From there, Stephen King was but a small leap. The day she discovered the Hopi ceremony to call back the dead, she just had to ask the question: What would happen if the wrong spirit came back? "Reluctant Medium" resulted. Besides writing and reading, Collins enjoys travel, hiking, movies and arts. Most days, she lives above the northern Horse Latitudes.

- Ripple: Young Adult Version - 2013-05-06 03:23:14-04
Ex-lawyer E.L. Farris is a born-again, marathon-running married mother of three who resides in Northern Virginia. <---That's what it says on the back of Ripple. What else do you need to know about me? I talk a lot. I write a lot. I adore my husband. I adore my children. What else? Well, I run. I've been running since I turned 14. I started to run then and I've been running ever since. Whenever I stop running, I land in a lot of trouble. I ran through a childhood that could well be described as hell. I ran through major depressive episodes and often teetered one step from the edge of a breakdown. Through running, I held onto my sanity, my sobriety, my life and my belief in God. Each step I take, no matter how physically painful, draws me a shade closer into my better angels. And the steps have become painful over the years, which is how I earned the nickname Phoenix. Some mornings I feel like I've been run over by a bus and the truth is, I was. I survived a collision with a metro bus, and it's fair to say that the accident messed me up. And yet I keep rising from the pyre of a burning fire and as I run I realize that as long as I hold the Holy Spirit inside me, my spirit will never die. Newer authors include Tom Clancy,Stephen Coonts and Michael Crichton.
