Apricot Marmalade and the Edmondson Transmittal By Lon Orey

About Apricot Marmalade and the Edmondson Transmittal By Lon Orey

A satirical romp through 1968 Thailand follows a team of US intelligence agents matching wits with enemy operatives.

It was 1968 and the war was not going well. The surprisingly-effective Tet Offensive in January had humbled and embarrassed the South Vietnamese and their American allies. It had sent a powerful message to the folks back home that this Vietnam thing wasn’t going to be over anytime soon. Americans in general were growing weary of its intrusion into their living rooms every evening on the six o’clock news.

Meanwhile in Bangkok, Thailand, just a stone’s throw from the battlefields, the special agents assigned to the 187th Military Intelligence Detachment, the US Army’s counterespionage arm, are dealing with the war and its implications for the rest of Southeast Asia in their own way. They dress in civilian clothes and carry credentials while performing counterintelligence investigations and surveillance of suspected enemy agents. As a group, they are an unruly and undisciplined lot whose often humorous attempts to carry out their assignments and stay out of trouble rarely succeed. The tone of this book has been compared to that of the classics “MASH” and “Catch 22.”

Lon Orey served in Military Intelligence in the late sixties. Much of that time was spent in Bangkok, Thailand, after studying the language for a year at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California. While this is a work of fiction, the framework within which the story is told reflects his real-world observations of the country and the various intelligence services operating there, as enhanced by a fertile imagination. Those intelligence services included the CIA, the KGB, and Thailand’s own intelligence agency, AFSC. He had fun writing this book, with tongue planted firmly in cheek, and he hopes you will have fun reading it.

Secrets of Ancient Tibet, 6,000 B.C. by Michael Hawking and Jenna Wolfe Ph.D.

About Secrets of Ancient Tibet, 6,000 B.C. by Michael Hawking and Jenna Wolfe Ph.D.

Free on Amazon September 23rd and 24th. Explore Ancient Tibet and its Profound Secret Knowledge. The civilization of very ancient Tibet—the lost kingdom of Zhang Zhung and its legendary tradition of sorcery and true magic—is among the least known and most irritatingly mysterious obscurities of history. Very little of its past has been deciphered and orthodox scholarship stands before Zhang Zhung in deeper darkness today than that which shrouded the Egypt of the Pharaohs before Champollion. Archaeologists debate what the ancient civilization on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau actually was, when it came, and whence it came.
Doubtless many chapters of Tibet’s ancient history will lie forever silent under her remote and desolate soil, yet extant traditions exist and have been too readily set aside; academic pedants love to brand as mythical the accounts which have endured the millennia, and which mischievously persist.
The study of antiquity is properly accounted worthless except as it may be made living knowledge which illuminates and enriches our contemporary life. Owing to a remarkable series of events in an isolated region of the Himalayas, I encountered an extraordinary group of people and, through those encounters, was privileged to learn that much of the secret knowledge of the ancient Zhang Zhung culture has not only been preserved, it is powerful, richly illuminating, and utilized to this day. As the reader will discover, these shrouded secrets formulate the explorations in this book.
As one of their most illuminating concepts, those traditions relate that there is a group of esoteric teachings—the ‘Four Portals’—which set forth the true nature of physical reality and techniques of powerful elemental magic, or “sorcery.” The first traces of the teachings are thought to have appeared as part of the lore of the pre-Tibetan Zhang Zhung culture that arose in Tibet several thousand years ago, but may have originated far earlier. Being a forbidden body of knowledge, said to convey enormous powers, the teachings disappear from the historical record for countless centuries, not to reemerge until the 7th century A.D. in the arcane scriptures of the ancient pre-Buddhist B’on religion.
According to those ancient traditions, the teachings of the ‘Four Portals’ were formulated by the earliest known “Buddha-like” master, Tonpa Shenrab Miwoche. The B’on traditions relate this historic event as occurring as early as 18,000 to 16,000 B.C. Although still shrouded in mystery, our most recent research indicates that the extant evidence places the earliest date of the Zhang Zhung culture at about 6,000 B.C., although the date of 18,000 to 16,000 B.C. may indicate the existence of a true Zhang Zhung or pre-Zhang Zhung culture existing prior to the ‘Younger Dryas Boundary’ cataclysmic event that effectively erased early civilizations from the historical record.
Much like our most recent historical Buddha, Shenrab renounced his life as a prince of the royal family to become a monk. Over a period of “many years,” the traditions relate, he gained access to secret knowledge that had been imparted, recorded, and hidden away some two-thousand years earlier by an entity known as “Gekhoe.” With this knowledge Shenrab achieved enlightenment and “otherworldly powers,” then later composed a comprehensive body of teachings to instruct qualified seekers on the means and techniques of attaining the most elevated wisdom and power. That secret knowledge is explored in this book.

The Omicron Six By Endy Wright

About The Omicron Six By Endy Wright

“Cooper stretched his arm over on top of Coupe to quiet him and hold him down. He then reached into Coupe’s mind and urged him to sleep, told him to sleep, that he was safe and could sleep the night through without worrying about those . . . things that came to him. Coupe’s thrashing began to subside. He did not scream at all. He returned to a peaceful sleep.”

Cooper Callister cannot speak. Coupe Daschelete is the victim of horrible abuse. No one would expect them to possess superhuman powers. But they do. When a fight in the woods forces them to reveal themselves to each other, they start a journey together that leads them to discover power they never expected, power they were never intended to have. To unlock those powers and fully understand them, they must follow a difficult and dangerous path of self-discovery and self-revelation. Cooper is forced to face the isolation of his silence. Coupe must confront the demons that haunt his dreams, planted there by those who have abused him and broken his mind. Alone they could not do it. Only together do they have the strength to conquer their challenges.

The threats they confront force them once again to evolve into something new, this time to face a new enemy with deadly intent. But is the world ready to accept what they have become?

Letters to Slaves

About Letters to Slaves

Dear readers and friends,

I am delighted that you have come across to this book and I am very touched that you have shown a great generosity to my work. This book is a collection of thoughts, longings, ideas and sometimes rhyming verses. I do not dare to call it a poetry book, because if I am a writer, then who was Bukowski? I am rather a young man who writes about things (you can define me like that). In this sense, please do not consider “a poetry book” at the cover page as an indication of vanity, but rather to let audience know what to expect.

Finally, I am glad that you are here, and I hope that you will enjoy this book. Please do not cringe to my love “poems” and political ideas.

Your friend,
Gasham

Author Bio:
My story with poetry dates back to my very early ages. At the first grade of my primary school, I was introduced to it. I was about 6-7 years old at that time and our school used to organize poetry night events for the parents and students. One day, my literature teacher approached to our class for choosing individuals for “poem recital contest”. Long story short, I was chosen. I still remember the excitement I felt on stage from reciting a nationalistic poem. One event, two, three, four…. i was the main guy “THE POETRY GUY”.

However, I did not like this name, it gave me a sense of weakness, geeky and nerdy feeling that my father did not like. I was even wearing optic glasses at the time…What a nerd! I did not like it, It was the end for the poetry guy.

After few years, one night in college I opened a notebook and started scratching some stuff there. It wasn’t too different, it was fun, it felt right. As if I was born for this, not for Engineering. Few months later, “THE POETRY GUY” was back writing here and there, on a napkin, back page of my Calculus notebook and on my PC.

Here I am friends, after 10 years of building self confidence, publishing my poetry book.

My book “Letters to Slaves” contains all the scratches I could collect from different location. Hope you will enjoy this and please don’t forget me and the fact that poetry doesn’t have to be cute.

Playing Mum by Elizabeth Coffey

About Playing Mum by Elizabeth Coffey

Young widow, Pamela Jones pulled up outside her wonderful new home – this was going to be a fresh start. Well, that’s how she had described it to her two young sons. Without the rose tinted specs it was a dilapidated grey cottage, in the middle of nowhere, it seemed. Nestling away in its overgrown grass and bedraggled rosebushes, desperately in need of a good paint.

“It’s going to be an adventure boys, the biggest one yet!” She had told them, excitedly.

But, what had started out as an adventure very quickly became a nightmare. No-one could ever have guessed what was about to happen to them – and worse than that, what terrifying things they would have to do, to dig themselves out of the shocking scenario that fate had cruelly dealt them…

She has since released PLAYING DAD the sequel to PLAYING MUM and E.A a satirical drama. “Writing has been my biggest hobby since I was old enough to hold a pen,” Elizabeth says, “I have a bottom draw brimming with stories!” Elizabeth’s personal rule of thumb is ‘to make every sentence count’ and create a romping read with characters who are three-dimensional and multi-layered. Her latest work AND THE LITTLE ONE SAID is a memoir published by Mereo Books and is receiving rave reviews.

To bring my friends together during the pandemic, I got really into being a Dungeon Master. I looked up youtube videos, spent a disproportionate amount of time catering to my players, building a world in which they’d fall in love with. One in which they could escape from their woes and worries and engage in a fantasy, if for a little while.

But then my creativity took me further. I wanted to tell a story. I wanted to create a story that mattered to my players, but we could never do it at the pace I wanted.

Then I saw a meme “What if I wanted to play Dungeons and Dragons by myself, what if I wanted to create stories and play through them by myself?” The response was “That’s called writing a book.” I imagined a Key and Peele sketch, about robbing a bank. “That’s called getting a job.”

Basically, if you want to tell a story, tell the story.

I have a passion for narrative and telling the story of the everyman. Here we follow Reynar who struggles with a world, not too much unlike our own, in which we attempt to break through the barriers between nature and humanity. Reality is shaped by forces which we cannot control. What if, instead of being dragged along by the current, we take control?

Welcome to Arathia, the world where every person can build the fantasy life of their dreams from the ground up.

Purple Hearts by Arthur Archaambeau

About Purple Hearts by Arthur Archaambeau

Everyone has a war story to tell

A jaded cop struggling to come to terms with her past falls for an idealistic former Marine-turned-cat rescuer on the crime-infested streets of West Baltimore.

Hope Kennedy is a cynical Baltimore cop. Her beat is the Mondawmin area of West Baltimore—the most dangerous neighborhood in America’s most dangerous city. And she’s struggling—unsuccessfully—to overcome a terrible event that has come to shape her life. Hope’s become angry and bitter. She’s spiraling out of control. Hope has lost hope.

Luke Matthews is a decorated Marine Corps combat veteran. He received the Purple Heart for a wound inflicted in Afghanistan. Now, he works as a carpenter for a nonprofit that builds homes for disabled vets. In his spare time, he volunteers with a local cat rescue. But Luke’s battling his own demons. He’s haunted by the war. Specifically, by a fog of war experience—a tragic accident—that has left him racked with guilt.

When Hope and Luke meet in a dingy alley, it’s anything but love at first sight. But a near-fatal accident a week later forges a bond. Eventually, in the middle of a cold Baltimore winter, a romance heats up. Little-by-little, Hope and Luke help one another feel alive again.
But Hope doesn’t know how to process her past, a past that is now jeopardizing her future. And as she and Luke get closer, she questions whether she’s worthy of his love.

Can two wounded, badly bruised, purple hearts come together and help one another heal?
Purple Hearts is not for the faint of heart. It’s as tough and gritty as the city it’s set in. It’s a slow burn, blue-collar romance about going the distance. And finding unconditional love at the end of the journey.

And along this journey, Hope and Luke meet a memorable cast of supporting characters—a no-nonsense police sergeant who practices tough love. A colorful late-night radio DJ. A homeless Vietnam veteran. A repentant mobster. A precocious young boy who seems to be in the know. A mysterious emergency room physician. A street cat looking for his forever home. And a little girl fighting cancer.

Purple Hearts is a story about life and death, joy and sorrow, laughter and tears—and ultimately, hope. All wrapped in the love of two perfectly imperfect human beings.

Author Bio:
I’m a Canadian prairie boy. I spent over 40 years of my life as a musician, travelling across Canada and the US playing nightclubs and honky-tonks. It was a great way to make a living.
I drifted into writing out of that. A song I wrote put me there. The books came from the song; the song came from loneliness. That song was “I Call Your Name”. Back in 2001, we were the house band at The St. Louis Hotel in Calgary. One night after hours, I sat on my bed, picked up my acoustic, and out came the song. I played it through a few times, decided I liked it, jotted down the lyrics and turned out the lights. Later, I bolted upright from my sleep in a sweat, jumped up to my computer and began typing. I typed until I collapsed. When I woke, I read what I had (47 pages), and got right back to writing. I was in the fire. I never looked back. That book became the first in the One Song series. There are now four. “I Call Your Name” started the process.
Anytime I can, I love to head to the outdoors with my camera, hiking with my niece, Candy, and any number of family and friends who wish to come along. The comedy team of Carl and Murphy (Candy’s two small dogs) is always with us. I’m also deep into Canadian Postal History, especially the Small Queens era of Canada, circa 1870-1897. Life is good.

Author Bio:
Lyndon N. Smith has a strong interest in science and technology, and a particular fascination with developments in physics and engineering that can have potentially revolutionary effects on the way we live. He feels that scientific and technological developments of recent decades have been less dramatic than was expected, say, seventy years ago and that an investigation into why this is the case and what we can do about it is well overdue. His background includes degrees in physics, robotics and engineering, as well as 26 years of research experience in the UK (and USA), which has resulted in 180 technical papers, two books and the supervision of 20 PhDs. As well as being a professor at a major UK university, he is also something of a bibliophile; but has had a long-standing concern about the lack of accessibility of many science and technology related publications, in terms of the associated difficulties with public engagement with science, as well as reducing the likelihood of science having a strong and beneficial impact on society. He believes that one way to increase the accessibility of science is to employ an informal style, and to make liberal use of quotations and allusions to well-known figures from popular culture. This is what he has aimed to do with his new book. His intention is to make you wonder why we don’t hear more about how modern technologies can revolutionise our lives. He believes we need to spend more time and effort on looking to the future rather than agonising over the past. And he uses discussion of people and events from the past, as well as various predictions of the possible future, to throw light on the situation for science and technology, and what developments we might expect going forward. Lyndon lives in Central Somerset, with his wife and son.

A Man with A White Shadow

About A Man with A White Shadow

A Man with A White Shadow is a story of a soul, Ganesha, who wants to change the world for the better. God allows him to do as he wishes, but he has to take a human form to change the world. This story is about what Ganesha writes about how he is going to live on the earth against how his life turns out when he is in the human form.

There are two common philosophies we are entangled with, one, that we are alone and there is nothing called destiny, and the other that revolves around destiny and having a predefined path. Authored by Vikram Suryawanshi, this novel portrays the possibility that every human has written his/her own destiny before taking the human form. However, due to innumerable mysteries, they often remain distant from their written paths. This book talks about some of those mysteries.

There are two stories running parallelly in the book: One where Ganesha finds out about all the mysteries and the other where some human characters strive to achieve their earthly ambitions. The contrast between these two storylines forces readers to break the barriers of their understanding of this world, and see the world as a child does.
