Madhu was the new girl in college and she had already driven all the guys crazy with her looks. Rajesh knew she was different from the rest of the girls in the college and she stayed in his mind after he went back to the hostel room. His friend Salim furnished him with all the details about Madhu; she had come from Kanpur and her father was an Air Force officer who was transferred to this town. Rajesh got a chance to meet Madhu at the badminton selection venue and they also won the University Badminton Championship together. But when Rajesh asked her to go with him to see the Taj Mahal, she told him she was engaged and it broke his heart. Rajesh told Salim about Madhu’s fiancé and they were surprised that Ayesha, Madhu’s friend who was also Salim’s cousin, did not mention it. In the meantime, Geeta, the girl who he was introduced to by his friend Ruchi, had a crush on Rajesh – she kept writing letters to him but never sent them…

Parallel Love by Ravi Ranjan Goswami is set in the ’90s and is an engaging story that gives glimpses into the nuances and complexities of relationships. It is interesting to see how the author has woven the story of Madhu and Geeta into that of Rajesh. The story has many layers to it, making it an entertaining book to relax with. It is a simple story that highlights how complicated love can be at times and the author captures the university ambiance well in the initial chapters of the novel. All the characters are real and relatable and the story is intriguing. This makes Parallel Love by Ravi Ranjan Goswami a good read and readers will be able to easily connect with the characters, the plot, and the events.
