Lakeidra Smith is a young millennial author and cybersecurity consultant. Lakeidra’s work was first published at the age of 18 by the renowned publishing company W.W. Norton & Co. and the University of Alabama. She would then go on to publish her first full-length non-fiction book, Cyber Curiosity: A Beginner’s Guide to Cybersecurity – How to Protect Yourself in the Modern World at the age of 22 with the publisher New Degree Press.

On a mission to create a safer Internet, she is focused on improving society’s awareness about the definition of cybersecurity and creating a positive culture around personal cybersecurity.

Look, I’ll keep it simple. I’m writing this because my therapist told me to write this. She said I needed to block out the world and get some of this on paper. So here I am. The tattered love story of my life.

I broke ‘the code’ … or whatever you want to call it.
The girl code. The code-code.

I mean, it’s simple, right?

Don’t screw your best friend’s ex.
Don’t screw your best friend’s current crush.

Those are the two big ones for anyone.

But for me… there was one bigger rule.

DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH MY BEST FRIEND’S BROTHER.

Dax is… a horrible person. Simple as that.

I knew he was a horrible person from the first time I met him and he asked me if I forgot to grow boobs.
(Yeah, I forgot to water my chest and give it plenty of sunlight… you jerk.)

But it was always more than that.

It was my family and his family. Tied together in ways I never understood. And that number one rule stood firm.

DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH MY BEST FRIEND’S BROTHER.

Now I’m writing in a journal – or diary – or whatever you want to call it… because I didn’t just break the first rule…

I shattered it.
I stomped on it.
I destroyed it…
