Hi, my name is Rachael and I’m from Cheshire in England.
This is my first novel, I put so much into it and am over the moon that even a few people have bought it, it really makes me feel like the stress of editing over and over, finding and resolving plot holes and polishing cringe-worthy grammar all so worth it, and makes me eager to go through it all again (because it’s secretly the most incredible journey I’ve been on).

Susan Thomas, an impressionable nine-year old girl who attends the Pleasant Grove Middle School, one day overhears a devious plot being hatched by three school bullies. Susan is afraid that this information has put her at risk, but is torn between keeping quiet for her personal safety, and the responsibility to speak out because it is the right thing to do, but also because she might save someone’s life if she does.
The story gives an insight into the world of a middle school child seeking acceptance, while at the same time wanting to assert herself and establish a sense of her own identity. It depicts the distress and isolation Susan feels when she is made a target of pranksters and jeered even by on-lookers, as well as the anxiety and pains she feels from wanting to do what she knows is right, knowing fully well that this is likely to further separate her from her peers.
The story also mentions the stabilizing effect, caring and responsible adults on the topsy-turvy world of competition, emotions and self-discovery which children must navigate.

New research supports this view. An area of the brain, known as the default network, correlates with the thoughts that create a sense of self, self and others, and self and time. As this area of the brain deactivates, dopamine (causes seeking behavior) and opioid (causes pleasure) levels increase.
Thoughts from the default network are limiting us, making us unhappy. They create an imaginary and superimposed value system, sending us to search for an illusory happiness that we will never reach. It is an unending pursuit which most people undertake all their lives.
There is a way to shut down this restrictive network. Through the process of self-inquiry, these thoughts can be removed. By continuously seeking the source of our thoughts, we halt their assault upon us. This leads a breakdown of the default network, a removal of all the labels that have been imposed upon us, and the unleashing of our true state. Thoughtless—but certainly not zombie-like—and in a state of total presence in the now, completely absorbed in peace or bliss, like Eckhart Tolle.

Author David Ring III was born in Plymouth, MA, in 1983. After an atypical upbringing that left him with a negative mindset, he began to seek freedom from his pessimistic thoughts.

I wrote a play, and some friends and I put it on for my fifth grade class. It was then that I caught the writing bug, so to speak. My fifth grade teacher encouraged me to continue writing, and so I did. My younger years were filled with short stories, plays, and then finally poetry. When I got into high school, I took a creative writing class which helped me build on my skills. The teacher was very supportive, and helped me see where I needed improvements. I learned a lot from him, and am very grateful to have had his influence in my life. In 1995 I wrote my first book entitled Life Is Funny That Way. Despite people telling me to try to get it published I didn’t. In fact, not until after I published The World Inside Stephanie’s Head in 2014, did I do anything with it. Though I wrote Life Is Funny That way years earlier, it is the second book I published in 2014. In January of 2015 I published my third book Destiny’s Mark. In July 2015 I will be publishing The World Beyond Stephanie’s Head. This is the sequel to The World Inside Stephanie’s Head. Many things happen within the pages of my books, not unlike life itself. In my books dreams are found, love is discovered, adventure is had, and betrayals happen. My books span many genres, though best to say most are action/ young adult fiction. My current project has a bit more of a serious tone, and is geared for a more adult audience.

Darren Lewis was born in Cardiff in 1975 and now lives with his family in Norfolk. Although an avid reader of many genres it wasn’t until his daughter, Ellie aged 6, asked for a story of her own that inspired him to put pen to paper.

I’ve always been drawn to the dark side of the human psyche, and devoured everything from Edgar Allan Poe to Shirley Jackson growing up. It is no surprise to me I turned out to be a writer of psychological suspense, often with threads of paranormal, mystery and romance.
I like to write about ordinary women who are at a difficult time in their lives, and are suddenly faced with an external evil force. Women who are stronger than they think they are. I didn’t think a whole lot about theme until I had written a couple of books, but I realized with the writing of my third novel ‘Chill Waters’ that my books generally have to do with betrayal and abandonment in some form, and learning to trust again. And more important, learning to trust oneself. Almost any good book will tell you something about the author herself. (Or himself.) You can’t avoid it. But first and foremost I want to give readers a roller-coaster ride, one that keeps them on the edge of that proverbial seats and resonates in the imagination long after the last page is read.
In addition to my critically aclaimed and award-winning novels, my articles and short stories have appeared in any many publications including The Toronto Star, Atlantic Advocate, Seek, Home Life Magazine, Mystery Scene. My short story Dark Reunion was anthologized in investigating Women, Published by Simon & Pierre.
I’ve held workshops and given talks at various schools and libraries, including New Brunswick Community College, and the University of New Brunswick. I am also a tutor with Winghill School, a distance education school in Ottawa for aspiring writers.
I’m a member of the Writer’s Federation of New Brunswick, past regional Vice-President of Crime Writers of Canada and International Thriller Writers.

Charles Nall was born and raised in Arkansas. He was fascinated with the likes of Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, and the Battletech universe. At a young age he drew a crude science fiction comic. It had vampires and mechs and spaceships. (Vampires before they were so popular!) It was fun. Not particularly well written or drawn, but it was fun. As he grew up, he would go back and redraw and “reboot” the comic series. Eventually, he even attempted to write a novel. The story was reworked over and over. Names were changed, the mechs removed, vampires not quite as bloodthirsty… Eventually, it became an epic in his mind that he had to share. Shatterspace.

I live in a small town in Oxfordshire where I was born and raised. I have lived here all my life apart from five years spent serving in the Royal Navy on submarines. Learning a new language is never an easy task but it doesn’t have to be hard. By learning the 1000 most used verbs in a language you give yourself a fantastic foundation to start building upon to your road to fluency.
In my book, 1000 French Verbs in context, I give you over 1000 of the most common French verbs used today. You are given the verb in French and English with examples of the verb in a sentence, also in French and English. No more confusion about how to use the verb.
1000 words are a perfect number to aim for. It is important to give yourself goals to stay motivated and to keep yourself learning. Imagine if you learnt 10 words a day. Five in the morning and five at night. After only 100 days ( that’s just over 3 months) you would have access to 1000 verbs in your vocabulary. That really is quite a lot and would give you an excellent grasp of the language. Far too many people expect to be speaking a new language far too quickly without putting in the time or effort. As a language teacher I can testify to seeing this too many times. I can also say that by exposing yourself to a new language daily you will surely learn it. It does take time and effort but ten words a day will give you a massive boost. If you prefer a slower pace then you could set yourself different goals.
