I also made an aggressive move into silver (US Silver Eagle coins) to watch them triple in value, at which time I sold individual rolls on EBay and kept the rest for future appreciation.
The essence of the Financial Fortress is that as savers and investors, we need to first have a strong defense before we can have a strong offense. As volatility in world markets seems to worsen each year and booms/busts become more intense, preservation of capital is paramount but so is finding opportunities to leverage what we have in order to grow our wealth.

About Designer Vaginas & Meatballs: A modern guide to parenthood:
How do you pitch a book to the public with the word “vagina” in the title? A book that isn’t aimed at the adult industry or with a nod to the controversial cocaine-smuggling trend.
Call us naïve but we only realised the title of this parenting guide might be a bit awkward to pull off when one of the guys in the design studio commented on the cover: “This font isn’t working, the ‘vagina’ is too in my face.”
Some like it hot, but some really don’t, especially in their face. We discovered that people got flustered when we mentioned our private parts. Yes, we could tone it down to DV&M status (we did on the website URL for quickness) but we’d still need to mention the V-word at some point. It’s in the book, after all. Euphemisms? Don’t even go there, see Chapter 5, I say vah-gina, you say bah-vah-gina.
So we were right back where we started: Designer Vaginas & Meatballs. There was no rethinking or rewording to be done because the title evolved around a real-life situation – a mother-to-mother conversation about a pelvic-organ prolapse resulting in a vaginal bulge. This sparked the idea for the entire book. More conversations followed as other parents shared their child-rearing experiences and advice – not shouty, overbearing advice, just meatball-sized bites in each chapter that you can take or leave. We never insist that you finish everything on your plate (food issues, hello).
We’ve tried to cover pretty much everything, as the chapter titles suggest, from sleep, or lack of it, feeds, friends, starting school, other parents, poo and pelvic floors.
No experts were involved in the writing of this book. Mothers and fathers contributed greatly, however, and this made us feel much happier about our research.
This parenting guide also includes one recipe idea (meatballs) although it is questionable. You could do so much better.
So, in answer to our question, there is only one answer: we’re pitching it to you straight, no porn and no curve balls. Just meat ones.
All the anecdotes in this book are true although names have been changed to spare our blushes. Talking to what feels like a million mothers and fathers, I’ve learned that we love, laugh, learn and all carry our own burdens – children have, and bring, different challenges. Raising a child in a modern world can be rewarding, heartbreaking, stimulating and exhausting, with unexpected lows and enormous satisfactions. Welcome to parenthood.
