I live in Essex, England in a rambling old farmhouse which I share with my three children (four, if you count my husband, he’s arguably the most badly behaved of the lot) and a very noisy cat. Seriously, that cat is loud. He’s worse than a newborn baby. He wakes me in the night by meowing by my bed and I have to escort him downstairs to his (already full) food bowl. I knew I should have got a dog.I’m a full-time mum and a writer. This means I alternate between frowning at my lap top and vacuuming up loom bands. I’m an expert at that. I also like going to the gym and doing art, especially portraits. If you read my book, you may think I also like getting my nails done and spray tans. This is not the case. I researched spray tans for the book and let’s just say ‘never again’. I am still scrubbing brown stuff off my knees, a year later.
I used to be a TV presenter, many moons ago, when I lived in Hong Kong in the 90s. I met a few famous people. Can I name drop? Jeff Goldblum (wow! What a charismatic man. I was quite taken with him), Bryan Adams (nice guy, was rocking some geek chic glasses that day, I have photographic evidence), George Clooney. Oh yes. What a nice man he is. I have a photo of me and him in my downstairs bathroom. We both look quite a lot younger. I had to point out to my children that it WAS actually me!
I wrote The Anti-Ageing of Harmony Richards because, quite frankly, the whole ageing thing was getting me down. It’s horrible to look in the mirror and think ‘Hang on! That’s not MY face!’ It’s fine though, honest, I can cope with it (sniff!). With the character of Harmony, I wanted to explore what the dread of ageing was like for someone who has never been quite sure of her marriage and who suddenly acquires a younger rival. It’s bad enough feeling that your face is sliding down your neck without some young beauty turning up and making a play for your husband!
The book won Debut of the Year in the Chick Lit Uncovered Book Awards 2014, which I was really chuffed with. This is what they said about me: ‘Fiona has a brilliantly witty writing style and her talent as a chick-lit writer is very clear in her debut’. Isn’t that nice?

Anna Raymann is born and raised in the Netherlands. She got her degree in physical therapy at the University of Amsterdam. She worked as a physiotherapist until the age of 40, when her chronic back pains prevented her to work any longer. She also had to drop her favorite sports due to her increasing health problems.By then her hobby writing grew more and more important, as you can always write, even when you’re lying in bed. She started blogging about her life of dealing with chronic pain and her health, which was both deteriorating and stopping her from leading the life she wanted.
Despite it all, she managed to achieve her dream of working in the Olympic Village at London 2012. She wrote about her experiences in London in a popular column in two large newspapers in The Netherlands. This column and her blog would later become the basis for her book about this very special year, which started with the worst winter, but ended in the best summer of her life: “Limiet gehaald,” (About the very special year in the life of a chronic pain patient.)This book ended up being read by many chronic pain patients, who wrote Anna that they recognized her story and that it inspired and encouraged them. She learned that, just like her, half of chronic pain patients find that their social lives deteriorate as a result of the pain and that they often find this even worse than the pain itself.
With her background as a physiotherapist, and her experiences as a chronic pain patient, she was intrigued by this problem and determined to find the answer and a solution to reduction of the social network, due to the pain. She started to interview over a hundred other CPPs and the people around them. She studied and read as much as she could about this social aspect of chronic pain.
She wrote down everything she learned in the book: ‘Lieve Help!’ (Literally translated: Strong Help!, but in Dutch also an expression meaning ‘O my God!’), released in the Netherlands in March 2014.
The book was an instant success, with only 4/5 star reviews, not only by professionals, such as pain doctors, psychologists and medical journalists, but also by the many chronic pain patients who’ve read it.

David grew up in the north east of England, where he went on to study English Literature at The University of Sunderland. After graduating, he started to write his first fictional stories, but always felt that to become a truly accomplished writer he would need to significantly broaden his horizons. Therefore, just days after his 27th birthday, he bought a one-way ticket to Sydney, Australia.He spent 2 years in the land down under and travelled through every far flung corner of the country, earning his keep by taking up jobs doing everything from pruning grape vines to driving tractors. He climbed glaciers, swam with sharks, jumped from aeroplanes and pretty much tried to live life as much as possible.

As a child I had stories going through my head. It took me a long time to realise I should write them down, therefore clearing my mind. Little did I know another one would pop up!
I wanted to be painter since I was a child. I was told, while being assessed at the end of my art foundation, I should go into drama or be a stand-up comedian. I’m short, so even if I did ‘stand up’ it’d be hard to see me and I realise that was their way of telling me I was rubbish at art.

If you want something, go for it. The only thing holding you back is you. You only have one life so don’t say ‘if only’ say ‘well at least I tried’.
