Inspired by seeing an old posting house while traveling on the byways of the Smoky Mountains, I wondered it it were inhabited by ghosts of a century before…and imagined lovers trapped in death, needing release from a curse–release that would only come when living lovers with the right to love came to the house and found the happily ever after that fate denied their ghostly ancestors.
Originally sold by Berkley Publishing Group as Heavenly Bliss, I re-sold it and revised it significantly for Ellora’s Cave Publishing in 2003 as Haunted. When those rights were reverted to me in September 2014, I thought, what a wonderful tale this would be if I revised it, removing the erotic content I had added for EC and bringing it back with some new scenes and a gorgeous new cover by Syneca.
Thus Bliss House came about–the contemporary romance with ghost enablers, back to its roots–and back to the title my former writing partner and I had given it before selling the proposal to Berkley–way back in 1996, when we were collectively known as Sara Jarrod.

George Massey, a twenty year old Cherokee, finds himself being force-marched to Indian Territory during the winter of 1838. Eventually, he gets lost in the Kentucky woods, finds a family who takes him in, and falls in love with their daughter. The novel follows his adventures as he travels west and gets involved in all sorts of historical events from the 1840’s to 1850’s.
