She has lived in many states within the U.S. and for a short time in Hanau, Germany. Her father retired from the Army while living in Del City, Oklahoma, where she graduated high school in 1978.She has a stepson named Chance Storts. LaVonna has two brothers and two sisters.

I’m retired/disabled. I travel as I please and carve out my own hours for writing. In college, I studied English and Linguistics. In graduate school, I studied typography and type design. My Jewish roots tend to creep a little into most of my work. Road trips, too. I love road trips and classic cars. The printing, advertising, and public relations fields had me hogtied for about 15 years. Which authors have inspired me? Ernest Hemingway for his terseness, Marge Piercy for her ability to get into people’s heads, and Robert Pirsig for showing me the value of a journey.If I were being honest with myself, I would have to say that I return to sardonic and dry humor, difficulty with relationships, and striving for happiness. I like to throw in small hints of Jewishness here and there, cultural rather than religious. My characters also like a good road trip as much as I do. They’re often on the road.
My favorite character from any of my books is Warrior, from “Triptych.” He was abandoned as a baby with a traveling circus, and they tattooed him and used him as a “jungle boy” attraction. He ran away from the circus to become a Marine. Later, he became a typesetter who falls in love with my heroine, Hannah. Warrior is an awesome guy!

About Little Red Riding Hood 1:Her mother warned her about the wolves. Stay on the path. Never stray from it. And always, always, without fail, make it to where you need to be before nightfall. Tasked with the simple job of carrying a basket of bread, fruit, and wine to her grandmother’s house, Lynx Charmer made her way through the forest from her own estate to her grandmother’s cottage. Outside the house in which her grandmother lived, her hand shook on the doorknob. Flashes of the nightmare were vivid in her mind as she took a deep breath and twisted the knob. An overwhelming sense of dread filled her. She couldn’t smell any fresh-baked muffins that usually greeted her when she visited. There were no soft hums radiating out of the door from her grandmother singing her favorite songs. There was stillness, an eerie silence that was louder than any noise. She exhaled and walked into the room. Moments later, her scream shattered the early morning air, as she took in the scene.
Her grandmother lay eviscerated by the bedside table, while pieces of her nightgown were scattered throughout the small cabin. Her reading glasses were still sitting on the table, on top of an open tale of Moby Dick, her grandmother’s favorite book. Her coffee cup lay overturned, as a long-dried trail of coffee had steeped into the carpet. Blood was on the floor, the walls, with some droplets even marked on the ceiling.
Lynx surveyed the damage and silenced her screams. She breathed in deeply. She closed her eyes, seeing the nightmare replay again in slow motion. There, in her dreams, she fixated upon the wolf in question. When her eyes opened, she knew what she needed to do.

A Galactic Chilly Spoon Wars storyLucian gazed out of the glass window of his bed chamber. The robes he wore, which symbolized his high rank in the elven community, flowed past his bare feet, trailing behind him like water made out of gold. He sighed softly, gazing out onto the lands he possessed. He would miss this, his home. The sky was a clear blue and awash with light and, as if there was a haze protecting the atmosphere, he could see vague shapes of a few planets in the distance. Below, the green fields were tantalizing him. The trees were practically beckoning him outside to explore and do what his species did best: hunt.
He could see himself doing just that. He longed to be free of his guilt and the heavier burden the crown offered him each time he woke from sleep. When he was still young, he remembered running out of the castle, happy and innocent. He remembered climbing up trees until his head popped up past the leaves and he could see the green roof of the vast forest spread out before him. He also remembered using his bow and arrow for fun, not for slaying. His father had been a remarkable teacher and through the years, Lucian had grown to be the best archer in the whole kingdom. And in battle, he was the deadliest.
A quiet sigh escaped his lips once more. He had had better days.
“Why is my king so sad?” A soft, feminine voice asked behind him.
“Lira,” Lucian murmured just as slender arms entwined around his waist. He rubbed the soft skin of his bride’s hands. He found that this always soothed him.
“Lucian, you’re worrying too much again.” she admonished gently and then Lucian felt her soft lips press against the space between his broad shoulders. Even with all the layers of clothing, his skin felt like it was on fire from her touch.
“It’s hard not to worry, when it’s my job.” said he.
She spun him around to face her and he had to smile.
His bride, his wife, was the most beautiful creature he had ever laid eyes on in all his centuries of living. Her features were soft and feminine and she held herself with grace and elegance.
Her big, hazel eyes were the most expressive he’d ever seen and, admittedly, was the only thing that could tip Lucian off to what she was thinking or feeling. Without those gorgeous eyes of hers, he feared he’d never know what his own wife was thinking unless she chose to divulge it.
Her lips were plump and pink and he liked kissing them. And her body dipped in curves in all the places he liked. Without warning, a sensation of lust overcame him. A low groan, almost like a growl, rumbled through him.
“Kiss me, Lucian.” she encouraged him.
He didn’t need telling twice. He bent down, cupping her neck gently between his hands and pressed his lips softly at first against hers and she sighed, melting her body against his. Her arms encircled around his neck, tangling her fingers in his long, dark hair. He opened his mouth to taste her and was stirred to feel her respond to him. His tongue pushed up against hers gently, teasing and tasting until she moaned and moved forward, pressing him against the wall.
He growled, liking this newly revealed side of hers. They had not been married long and they were still experimenting, trying new things on each other. Today, she was aggressive. He felt she wanted to take charge, so he let her.
She removed her hair from the compulsory bun it was in and she shook her long mane of fiercely red hair out. His fingers immediately shot out to trail through it, making her tip her neck back a bit. He pressed an open-mouthed kiss to the hollow of her throat. She sighed happily.
