My name is Richard Porter in 2009. The doctors told me I had Prostate Cancer. At that time, I had just received a lead role in a play that I was acting in. The doctor told me to come into his office and sit down, that he wanted to explain some things to me.

Mr. Porter the doctor said. You have three choices. You can do nothing and you will survive three years. Then we will only be able to make you comfortable with some medication. The second thing is to have an operation and clear all the Cancer out of your body. And lastly, you may take radiation treatments for that will also clear the Cancer from your body as well.

The medical procedures will leave you with some problems for the rest of your life. These procedures if done early enough will leave you with a better quality of life. We have seen a 90% success rate from having these procedures done. I walked out of that office afraid and angry.

Once I arrived at home,called my children, and we discuss, what would be the best decision for the family. We all agreed that radiation would be the best way for us to go. That was in November of 2009 as I went through those horrible weeks of radiation. Five days a week without fail.

I studied 300 lines that I had to bring to memory. I was the lead actor in the play called “The Devil Is Loose”. Most of those eight weeks were very uncomfortable. I still was able to perform and did a good job. I told none of the production staff about my medical condition.

Now, I write e-books for Amazon Kindle, and happy to say I will continue as long as I can. I hope that when you purchase one of my books. My belief is you will enjoy the stories that I produce. I write like there is no tomorrow, so you will get my very best every time out.

The first story I ever wrote was Sonic the Hedgehog fan-fiction at the tender age of eight.

As a tomboy, I spent hours watching boys play video games during play dates. To include myself in their world of buttons and power-ups, I’d ask incessant questions about the characters, worlds, and storyline. I got the bright idea to bring a notebook when their answers became so intricate with rules and plotholes.

This caught the attention of my future partner in crime, B.W., who tore his eyes from the TV and asked me why I had a notebook. When I told him my plans to document and fill in the missing pieces to the storylines, he asked me if he could illustrate them.

Of course I said yes.

The next day, I tore the perforated sides off our first scan-copied story and stapled the top corner. Then I knocked on all the doors in my neighborhood asking if I could sit down and read it to them.

It didn’t take long before my neighbors started asking for sequel copies right off the press. We sold so well, we started charging snacks during our readings.

At this point, I was a renowned businesswoman on the playground. I’d walk laps with B.W., plotting Sonic’s adventures for the next month’s edition. But all the fun came to a screeching halt when B.W. moved three states away. I vowed never to write another Sonic word without him and I didn’t.

I turned to poetry, as every teenage writer does. Don’t worry, I was awful at it. Then I turned to essays and reviews, where I formed the opinions on social issues I stand behind today. But it wasn’t until college when I took everyone’s advice and wrote my first novel.

Now, seven novels later, I’ve decided to start peddling the block again and publish my debut novel, FIGURE 8. I am proud to share my work, even if I don’t get cookies and milk with every read. I hope you enjoy them as much as me.

I was born to be a princess. I was a princess, for a while. My parents overcame the poverty of their youth by becoming extremely successful. My hometown was one of the most affluent places in the country. I spent my time showing horses and water-skiing behind my dad’s obscenely overpowered boat.

I realized that they had lived the lite version of what happened to Native Americans. They had the kingdom–the entire continent–and lost it. I knew how that felt. They were treated abominably for centuries, and had the worst abuse hurled at them. I know about that too.

My writing has a bite. My life has had a bite. Recovering from what happened to me took many years. And I have recovered. What was legitimately mine came back to me, along with the fruit of my own labor.

Now for my “regular bio”: I’ve been in school a very long time and have two advanced degrees. I’ve had prestigious careers. My writing has won twenty-six national awards. I’m very happily married; my husband and I have been together forty years. I have three grown children and two grandchildren. We live on our California horse ranch and love it. And I still get on a horse occasionally and love that, too.

Here’s the bottom line… I love to laugh, I love to drink and I love to eat.

I also love writing.

As a child I had stories going through my head. It took me a long time to realise I should write them down, therefore clearing my mind. Little did I know another one would pop up!

I wanted to be painter since I was a child. I was told, while being assessed at the end of my art foundation, I should go into drama or be a stand-up comedian. I’m short, so even if I did ‘stand up’ it’d be hard to see me and I realise that was their way of telling me I was rubbish at art.

I’ve worked in various jobs and I have been extremely lucky to do what I wanted to do… though I have a habit of changing my mind every so often.

Claire Plaisted grew up in the small historical town of Sandbach, Cheshire, England with two older siblings and loving parents.

At 19 she moved to the town of Colwyn Bay in North Wales. It was from here that her adventures began with her first holiday abroad on her own at age 21. New Zealand was the destination and this is where she met her husband to be and eventually moved to in 1991.

Married with four children, sadly losing their youngest child. Claire engages her time in bringing up her children along with family history research. It was during the formatting of one book Claire opened a word document while waiting on receiving information to finish her latest project. Her first novel was born.
