I laughed at much of it before my fingers could type the words.
Having worked with Gay men throughout my career I found most were very artsy, fun and great friends. So this is not a bashing gays book.
I have always wanted to write and now I have the time. I also have a problem with the word ‘retire’ I mean it makes no sense; repeat- to say it over, redo- to do it over, repair- to fix something, etc. ; get where I’m heading?
Retire- to change a flat? How about, Relive? Start anew, keep going until your clock stops for good. Use your body and brain all up? Got it? I know you do. This is my life, if I don’t fill it with my desires then I wasted it. Waste not want not!
Sorry… no on second thought I am not sorry for saying what I want. If this novella never sold, anymore than what it has just by word of mouth I still would be glad I wrote it.
As a busy wife, mom and career woman I hated to start a big book only because a week could go by before I could steal an hour or so to pick it up again and much of that time was spent back paging to get a grip on the story. After getting married at 17 to my high school boyfriend, we moved to Germany to live on a military base while my husband served four years in the Army. This is when the bulk of this series was written and developed. While it has undergone many rewrites, the story was composed and envisioned in a European setting. I spent these years writing and travelling all over Europe, as well as to Japan. Previously during my junior year in high school, I visited Shanghai and Beijing, China. I loved that I had the opportunity to travel, and wanted to incorporate as much culture and diversity into my story as possible.I completed my bachelor’s degree in English and History the same month we left Germany for North Carolina, December 2009. We bought a house we hadn’t even seen because our first choice was held up in banking chaos and we did not have time to close before we had to leave base. Luckily for us, the house was perfect and we had plenty of yard for our two German Shepherd babies we brought home with us from Bavaria. Cadence and Carerra keep me plenty busy and have went on many treks through the woods. It was on one of these treks that we discovered the lake in Germany where I first envisioned the scene of Blake and Anna in the forest.
Four years after our move to North Carolina, my husband is now officially an engineer and I am still happily working on my writing!

Writing has always been in my blood. Since the age of thirteen when I coauthored a cheesy romance novel in a blue, spiral bound notebook, I knew I wanted to pursue writing as a career. But somewhere along the way, I lost my voice. Sure I could craft a witty email or write marketing copy for other authors, as I did in a previous job, but to write that great American novel seemed just out of reach.As is often happens, life simply got in the way. I got married, had three children, and adopted a black Labrador. As a stay-at-home mom, I was lucky to get an hour a day to myself. And when I found those few precious minutes, they were spent reading a good book. A voracious reader, I’ve been researching the mystery and suspense genres for more than two decades.
It was in my search for my own identity after staying at home with the kids that ultimately lead me back to my love of writing. I started my journey towards publication in August 2010. The first draft only took four months to write, but was followed by an enormous amount of time rewriting, and an even longer time searching for a publisher. Determination, perseverance, and God’s blessing made my publishing dream a reality. I signed a contract with Black Rose Writing on May 18, 2012 and my first mystery novel, “Dead Like Me,” debuted in November 2012. The second installment in the Detective Kate Springer series, “Deadly Fantasies,” debuted December 19, 2013. Since that time, the book’s rights have reverted back to me and I’ve gone indie!
