Born in Waterford, Ireland, in 1981, I later moved up to Galway in ’88. There I attended St. Pat’s primary school before serving my five year sentence at St. Joseph’s secondary.

I sat my leaving-cert in 1999. Rivetting stuff…enough said! Let’s just say, Medicine was well n’ truly out the window, as was shoe-shining. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just not my dream scenario.

I hated school-work you see. Hanging out with my friends in the yard, smoking, was one thing, but when it came to studying…”no thanks, the tv could use some company.”

In hindsight, this could very well have been my inspiration for William. Thankfully there were no Blackheads or Ms. Cleavers gracing my school halls, though there were some close alternatives…

But not all my subjects made me want to rip fistfuls of my hair out and use it for earplugs. English appealed to me very much. Why? Because English involves writing. And the only ingredients writing requires are passion, patience, and imagination. Not foreign languages or algebra (unless you want to include them, if that’s your thing)

It was my guilty pleasure. I used to love ‘pushing the envelope’ when essay-day arrived. Not out of some twisted enjoyment for the dark and demented things I sometimes wrote about. It was more a case of me wanting to be more original than everyone else. I was always competitive that way.

After my five year stretch, I got out on bail with my mediocre result card, and actually continued to write. This surprised even me. I wrote short stories, the odd poem, and even a few songs. God-awful ones, but I tried it nonetheless. Writing is writing after all – be it a Facebook status or a 1000 page novel.

It was only in October 2002, did my little writing hobby really change the course of my life. I’d begun working on a fantasy called ‘Kaddareth’. In the meantime I was doing a creative writing course at Kilroy’s College, Dublin.

I learned a lot during that course. My tutor, Eileen Casey, was especially supportive. A true model for aspiring writers, and she is an extremely talented author and mentor to many, having written such works as ‘Snow Shoes’ and ‘Drinking the colour blue’.

However, I will never forget the day I was asked to present them with the opening pages of a sample novel.

Thinking nothing of it, I began…

I wrote through the night. Red Bull cans scattered about my desk lamp. By the time I was done, I was well beyond the assignment’s word allowance. The idea was just too vast for a simple 1,500 word exercise. But I liked what I’d written so much that I didn’t want to just send it adrift, nor could I edit it because the details were just too damn essential to the plot. So I contacted the college the following morning and asked if I could exceed it, just this once – with sugar on top. As expected, no such permsission was granted, which was perfectly fair (and to this day I’m glad!)

So I put that story to one side, submitted some other ‘thrown-together’ piece, and straight-away returned to the other.

That piece was the beginnings of ‘The Other of One’…

I have since ditched Kaddareth and have continued on this course; adding on further installments to (what has become known as) ‘The Other of One’ series as I go. Best of all, it has been so well received! And with a little luck, even more people will get to read it in the future. People like you. I only hope you enjoy it as much, because if you do, then I will have a whole other world waiting for you to explore…

The clues are not always obvious, and we must concentrate and become absorbed in the mental and often physical search for solutions to the various earthly mysteries. Although many people enjoy earthly mysteries, very few bother to search for the solution of any of the heavenly mysteries contained in the Holy Scriptures. Most denominational believers do not even realize that G-d wants to reveal these heavenly mysteries to them while they are still living on earth and “they” for the most part, are quite content to wait for the answers and solutions until after “they” die and “get to heaven”. But dear one, if you are also waiting until after you die; you may have strayed from G-d’s path and you might find yourself in the other place!

Whenever you are studying any mystery in the Bible NEVER forget the following verses: In Psalm 40:7 we read: “Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,” and in Hebrews 10:7 we read: “Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,” (You should see the same truth or answer repeated throughout His entire written Word!) In Matthew 18:16 we read: “But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.” (You need to find at least two or three scriptures that exactly mean the same thing as the “truth” you are studying!) Finally in Ecclesiastes 1: 9 we read: “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” (If someone tells you “something” will happen that has never happened before e.g., the “rapture” – be VERY CAREFUL!)

Before starting out on our little journey it may be wise to ask HaShem for His mind and for His help: The following Jewish prayer is for all those who are setting off on a journey: “Be it Your Will, our G-d that you should accompany us out in peace and guide us in peace and return us in peace… Let us reach our destination alive, in happiness and in peace…”

To increase the probability of your natural death by one in a million, you can either choose to travel six minutes by canoe, eat 40 tablespoons of peanut butter, fly 1,000 miles by jet, smoke 1.4 cigarettes a day or live two days in New York’s polluted air.

Environmental hazards are truly responsible for at least 25 percent of the total health burden of all diseases worldwide. Many people are becoming increasingly very health conscious about how to properly choose to preserve their mortal bodies for a few more days or years – but most people totally ignore where they are choosing to spend their entire eternity! The devil and his demons are continually trying to KILL YOUR VERY SOUL! Do you really want to “choose” to follow them into the eternal burning lake of fire and brimstone? If not, you need to choose to repent!

We all must choose if we will be either good or “bad” – G-d will not stop us – we must personally choose which way we want to go, then turn and repent! In Deuteronomy 30:15 – 20 we read: “See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the LORD your G-d, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your G-d will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life (and not death), so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your G-d, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him. For the LORD is truly your life, and He will give you many years in the land He swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”

In 2 Chronicles 7:14 we read: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; (only) then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

In Acts 17: 30-31 we read: ”And the times of this ignorance G-d winked at; but now He commandeth all men everywhere to repent: Because He hath appointed a day, in the which He will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom He hath ordained; whereof He hath given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised Him from the dead.”

Revelation 21:8 – “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

In Psalm 51: 7-11 we read: “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice. Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O G-d, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.” (It is His Job to clean you up dear one!)

1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of G-d [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (It is truly a gift dear one!)

Romans 3:23 – For ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of G-d.

My great desire is the revive my inner world by a combination of visual art and the world of words.
I was born in Jerusalem, Israel. I am a graduate of the art department, Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem (B.A) and combines adult and children’s fiction, painting and sculpture.
I am also a graduate of The Jerusalem Author Prose Writing Workshop, led by the authors Isaac Averbuch Orpaz, Chaim Beer, Shulamit Lapid, and David Grossman.

I began my working life as a voice-over artist. Early on in my career I took a job with a T.V station as their Commercial Production Manager which had me writing, producing and, in a lot of cases, voicing the commercials we made. I loved my first toe-dip into writing but the lure of the immediacy and overall lifestyle that being a voice-over artist provided quickly won me over, and I soon became a full-time voice-over artist.

This choice exposed me to the written words of truly excellent writers and gave me a terrific appreciation of the importance of sentence structure. The way the words flow off the tongue and into the ear make a huge difference as to whether the message is received and accepted – or not. It is very difficult to make a poor script sound nice, but conversely, one that is well written just automatically sings and gives the reader (and listener) a bountiful choice of interpretation and color – and depth of understanding.

Believable, natural dialog and the description of action scenes are the areas that I consider most important in my novels. Setting is also very important, but I think many writers concentrate too much on that at the expense of true narrative. Finding the right balance is a never-ending challenge, but I would prefer my readers remembered my scenes and my story rather than an overly detailed description of the dress a character wore, or the cute house she lived in. This balance also involves the depth of emotion and feelings that the characters are experiencing. I intend to delve a lot deeper into the ephemeral area of human emotions and relationships in future books.

I’ve read what many other fiction authors have written in the “About the Author” section with dismay. I get the feeling many believe they are applying for a job. ‘I’m a thirty-eight year old.. I grew up in a small.. I have two.. I studied at the University of.. – blah, blah, blah.’

None of that really matters. As a writer, I have a job already: – to entertain my readers. That’s the minimum requirement. The ultimate achievement is to enthrall, beguile and compel them to want to keep on reading my words.

A fiction author uses words and order to create a sketch; a framework for the reader’s imagination to fill-in and give color to an imaginary scene. Simply put, the author is trying to get you to visualize a story. I can’t see how you knowing the author has a dozen kids and a PhD will help that process. If such things are important then I would argue that every convincing writer of murder/mystery would need to be a serial killer. It’s fiction, it’s 100% about enjoyment.

He studied ecology at the University of Liverpool, and obtained a PhD from the University of London for research into the effects of environmental fluctuations on species diversity. During a period as a photographic artist, he had several one-man shows but these generated little in the way of income. Eventually, he resorted to paid employment, qualified as an accountant and for several years held the post of Chief Accountant at Imperial College. Having made enough money to fund his future (modest) requirements, he has withdrawn from the ‘rat race’ in order to concentrate on his main interest: techniques for examining the illusion of ‘the ghost in the machine’ and for tracing consciousness back to its true source.

Robert moved to Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi in 1997 where he taught a variety of technical courses including astronomy, physics and bioacoustics. He is now retired.

Robert and his wife Karen live on a small farm near Normanna, Texas where they maintain a vineyard, propagate and grow native Texas Plants, and spend a great deal of time out doors. His hobbies are birding, photography, and falconry.
