Bertrand J. Adams Sr.’s real name is his Native American name, Kadashan. He was named after his great grandfather, John Kadashan. In his earlier years the elder Kadashan was a friend and guide to John Muir who is credited to discovering Glacier Bay in southeast Alaska. In his later his sunset years he was known as a “peace Maker” among the Tlingit people in his region. The younger Kadashan takes pride in his Tlingit name, and in his writings he keeps his focus on a positive note. He was born in Sitka, Alaska, but raised in Yakutat, where his ancestral roots come from. He is deeply rooted in his history and culture and concentrates on the premise of his book—the Natural Law.
