Here’s the bottom line… I love to laugh, I love to drink and I love to eat.

I also love writing.

As a child I had stories going through my head. It took me a long time to realise I should write them down, therefore clearing my mind. Little did I know another one would pop up!

I wanted to be painter since I was a child. I was told, while being assessed at the end of my art foundation, I should go into drama or be a stand-up comedian. I’m short, so even if I did ‘stand up’ it’d be hard to see me and I realise that was their way of telling me I was rubbish at art.

I’ve worked in various jobs and I have been extremely lucky to do what I wanted to do… though I have a habit of changing my mind every so often.

If you want something, go for it. The only thing holding you back is you. You only have one life so don’t say ‘if only’ say ‘well at least I tried’.

Writing, like anything creative, is an exposure. Not everyone likes what you write, what you say or what you think… but some people do. That’s my focus. On the people who like what you write… what I write.

Long before Georgia O’Keeffe started painting flowers or the great landscapes of the Southwest, she explored total abstraction and monochrome palate beginning in 1912. She delved deep into the world of Zen Buddhist inspired art making to get to the very essence of thing, not an imitation, but the TRUTH…the Zen way of seeing the world…

There is a plethora of influences that have determined the character of American art, and often, they are propelled by various external cultural influences. The question for this study has been twofold. I spent my childhood wandering the woods behind our house, pretending to be an Indian. Later, when I discovered horses, it prompted my mother (the history teacher) to put anything she could about the High Plains tribes into my hands. This infatuation lasted for over a decade.

At some point, I got away from Indians. My mother blames boys. I discovered Victorian novels and didn’t look back. I got a BA in English from Truman State University and a MA in English from The Ohio State University.

Through it all, I knew I wanted to write novels. I just had no idea how to do it.

It took a caffeine-fueled car trip with my 92-year-old grandmother and two-year-old son in July of 2007 to awaken my Muse. That story would become my first book as I figured out how, exactly, one writes a novel.

Let’s just say the learning curve was steep.

One character led to another. Before long, my characters were in South Dakota, among the Lakota Sioux tribe. Modern-day cowboys who are the Indians – without planning it, I find myself writing about the people and places that held my imagination throughout my childhood.

In 2010, I sold the award-winning Indian Princess to Stacy Boyd of Harlequin Desire. The book was released A Man of His Word in 2011. Since then, I’ve sold many more books to Harlequin Desire and Samhain!

A Man of Privilege won the RT Reviewers Choice Best Desire of 2012! I was honored to attend the RT Convention in Kansas City to receive my award in person.

I live in Illinois with my husband, son, and rescue mutts. I am a writer and editor at Mark Twain Media, Inc., an educational publishing company. Ruth Tel-Tsur was born in Israel in 1935 and grew up in Afikim, a “kibuts” in the Jordan Valley. Although she had a pleasant childhood, she was always aware of the suffering around her. Little did she know then that later on she herself will be exposed to a great tragedy.
At the age of 32, she was diagnosed with cancer. To make matters worse, while going through surgical procedures and receiving radiation treatment, she had to deal with the bitter news of the sudden death of her husband.
As fragile as she was, she found herself having to simultaneously confront the death of her husband together and the possibility of her own death. She knew then that she had to find ways to live -not just survive. As a young widow with two small children, she began her long journey towards widening her understandings.
She studied psychology and graduated as a clinical psychologist at Tel-Aviv University. But this alone was not enough for her. She continued to learn and seek ways to cease misery, sorrow and agony, and to be wealthy and happy.
Her book “Moonlight – Transformation of knowledge” sums up her new understandings. The book is written in a simple and pleasurable way so that every reader can enjoy and benefit from it.
