I’m Dan Eitreim and I worked as a professional photographer running my own photo studio for over 20 years. I’ve never apprenticed or worked for any other photographers. Because of this, I’ve had to learn and develop my photography skills on my own.

My first attempts were dismal to say the least…so I studied, practiced and developed my photo skills and along the way I not only learned how to put the “wow” into my photos, but I’ve also learned how to teach others to do the same!

To that end I’ve compiled a 23 volume series of photo training lessons that I’ve titled: “On Target Photo Training”.

JERRY LUJAN struggles through his first semester of college and the recent death of his grandmother, the woman who had raised him and his older brother TED since the tragic accident that claimed the lives of their parents over a decade ago. Grief, uncertainty and lack of motivation leave him on the verge of failing. He receives a phone call from Ted, who had disappeared during their grandmother’s memorial service, asking him to come to California to stay in his new beach house.

Jerry arrives to find a half-dilapidated house sitting alone on a cliff overlooking a desolate stretch of coastline. Ted explains that a ship sank in the cove below and its captain survived and built the house to keep watch on the cove. Ted asks Jerry to help him retrieve a lost treasure, golden idols that went down with the ship. Ted produces the captain’s logbook and records, which verify his story and indicates that they are only living descendants of the captain. Jerry agrees to help.
Jerry learns to scuba dive and becomes enamored with his pretty instructor, ELLI, the niece of the dive shop owner. At night he reads from Captain Teller’s old logbook. It tells of the last voyage of the clipper ship “Morning Sunshine” as it made its way back from the Orient, got lost in storms, found an uncharted island and how the crew found a large priceless gem. The account also tells of a demonic force that stalks the crew and its passengers and how the captain sealed the gem into a golden box as a storm drove the ship into a reef, taking all but the captain to a watery, shark-frenzied grave.

He is plagued by dreams of an ancient earth, dreams in which he is part of a large pack of intelligent entities that survive on the flesh of the dinosaurs. He sees an asteroid devastate the world, forcing the pack to go into hibernation, only to awakening to feed again millions of years later. Driven by hunger, they decimate the planet. To survive, they focus their collective will to compel apelike creatures living in the trees to take a different evolutionary path, one that would guarantee the pack all the food they would ever need. They leave a gem in a temple on an island far in the ocean. Once the apes have spread to that remote location, the gem would send the signal for them to return again. Jerry feels the creatures enter hibernation to await the signal.
Spring break comes to a close and the brother’s dive down to the wooden ship. The ship is crumbling around them as a large shark attacks the ancient hull. They find the box and escape the collapsing craft only to discover the shark had sunk their boat. Using shark sticks to defend themselves, they make their way to the top of the reef with their prize as the tide slowly rises threatening to plunge them back were the shark can get them. Elli, looking for her uncle who had fallen victim to the shark, rescues them from the reef and makes a mad dash toward the shore narrowly escaping the shark by grounding the boat on the rocky coast.

The trio make it back to the house, break open the box and expose the gem. A storm comes quickly off the sea and the small group moves their celebration inside. Jerry quickly realizes that something is trying to get into the house. Ted runs upstairs with his shark stick to investigate a crashing sound. The remains of his body come back down the stairs followed by a quadrapedal shark creature. Using Ted’s shark stick, Elli wounds it, sending it fleeing back to the cove. Jerry takes the gem, box and helps a catatonic Elli into the car as the creatures from the sky, now awakened attack with wind and lighting.

Jerry escapes back to his home in New Mexico and tries to find a way to stop the pack which will come with the next moon. He asks his cousin to help him lose the gem and box in a deep cavern where no one will ever find it. Before they can implement their plan, a horrible raptor creature flies in through the dormitory window and kills them taking the gem to its nest in the mountains where it can continue to awaken the sleepers to reclaim the earth.

Mark Hubbs is an eleven year veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry. He left active duty in 1992 and retired from the Army Reserve in 2001. Since leaving active duty he worked as a historic preservation specialist and archaeologist for the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command. His work has taken him to several far flung islands in the Pacific where the fierce battles of World War II have left relics both above and below the surface of the corral sand.

Besides the extensive non-fiction writing that Mark does for his job, he has also written non-fiction for several history related magazines and journals. The Secret of Wattensaw Bayou is his first novel.

Mark has had a life-long passion for history. 1 THEORIES OF CASTE – AN EXAMINATION

1.1 Racial Theory: That caste system evolved to accommodate large variety of tribes into Aryan society during expansion of vedic Aryan territories.

1.2 Political Theory: Caste has been a useful tool for maintaining social order, the vicious form it now maintains though needs much more explanation than what is offered by this theory.

1.3 Occupational theory: Various occupational guilds and other family groups metamorphosed into castes, in India.

1.4 Traditional theory, Guild theory and Religious theory: These theories explain the formation of castes as a singularity in social evolution.

1.5 Evolutionary theory: This hypothesis, in fact, is not a new or different theory. It states, in effect, that over the years, formation of caste is influenced by all above factors.

2 DEVELOPMENT OF CASTE – A STUDY

2.1 The origin and development of caste system therefore narrows down to the distinctiveness, of evolution of Indian society which could cause the natural variations existing in the society transform into castes (as they are now) under the influence of these peculiarities.

2.2 Though the tendency to form social class is present in every society, in this case, the stratification became increasingly stable, crystallizing into castes. With passage of time, the meaning of caste changed much from a rather abstract division to one dividing people into, groups with different responsibilities, functions and rights, i.e., different societies.

2.3 Endogamy as well as measures instituted by the invading group in governing the land might be able to put forth a rationale for development of caste, however fails in providing a reasonable explanation to the fact that we have myriad of castes, each having perceptible divergence in ability when compared with one another.
3 EVOLUTION OF CASTE – A REVIEW

3.1 Whatever the shape, the evolution of caste took; it certainly resulted in a large multitude of castes, each having discernable differences, especially in intellectual ability when compared with one another which further perpetuated a stratified society. Indian society, which welcomed the first invader, was culturally a matured one having certain abstract notions of stratification, encompassing all aspects of life and society. Thus we have categories or different types of, men, women, guests, maidens, horses, dogs, cows, other things like plants, activities like sleeping, other abstractions like friends, enemies and others with further subdivisions leading to myriad of arcane classifications, each possessing unique functional attributes; caste being one such theme of classification.

4 PROGRESSION OF CASTE – AN ANALYSIS

4.1 Before British: Early invasions to India, almost all, resulted in Islamic rule in India which created “a much stronger and much unified elite, which made it difficult for the ordinary masses to resist social changes, particularly in the realm of philosophical choice, religious pluralism and other personal preferences”.

5 NATIONALIST MOVEMENTS AND CASTE – AN APPRAISAL

5.1 History of India is replete with stories of social moderation efforts or other rearrangements, that too of a permanent nature, necessitated by a non homogeneous society. In the early times, if Budhism and Jainism heralded such efforts, we have Sikhism of relatively recent origin, all forerunners of social reformists. Raja Rammohan Roy, who could be called the father of Hindu reformation, gave leadership to Hindu revival in modern times. From the on, though many reformers attempted different revival methods, Mahatmaji’s views on social struggle stands apart by its unique, interpid approach.
6 CASTE – MY SIDE – The Singularities

While studying the origins of caste system, a mistake, which seems to have crept into all the theories mentioned earlier, is that no doctrine takes the philosophical plane of existence of caste (referring to caste as ‘varna’, an abstraction), into account.

Of the myriad of themes Indian ‘puranic’ texts contain, caste alone became instituted in later life, and this can be attributed to the ‘singularities’ during evolution of social life in India.
7 CASTE – A SUMMARY

Caste is a relic of dark ages. Only one medicine has been tried so far towards demolition of caste and that is reservation. It is only logical to realize that as the cure is not working, we need to change medication.

When they married, they moved to Tulsa, where she finished her degree in special education and began teaching. She loved teaching and working with students with special needs. They helped her remember what is important in life. She also participated in the Special Olympics as a coach with her students and has attended the State Games in May for years. Recently she retired from teaching to write full-time.

Besides teaching and writing, she is also a mother of one. Her son, Shaun, loves animals and there have been times they could have their own zoo at the house. The most interesting pet Shaun had is a leopard tortoise, which could outlive him. She has joked that his children will be inheriting a tortoise. He is married with four daughters.

When she isn’t working, she loves to read, travel, and go to lunch and a movie with a friend. She has been to many countries in the world and loves to meet new people. Her favorite place is Tahiti — Bora Bora. It is as beautiful as all the pictures portray it.

I have these flashes of memory, like we’ve met before. I don’t know who those memories belong to, but they can’t be mine.

My best friend Angie couldn’t be happier about the situation. She thinks my single status is criminal. Hey, I’ve got a lot on my plate. There’s no time for normal teenage dating. Let’s talk about those giant, cat-like assassins sent to slice my head off or the fact that I’ve been reincarnated. Maybe we should discuss the source of my healing powers being tied to warring gods and the veil between life and death or my mixed emotions concerning sweet Victor and complicated Tie. I’m determined to choose my own destiny, but I have to do that before I lose everyone I love to an ancient Japanese prophecy.

And I still need to finish this stupid homework.

Born in Waterford, Ireland, in 1981, I later moved up to Galway in ’88. There I attended St. Pat’s primary school before serving my five year sentence at St. Joseph’s secondary.

I sat my leaving-cert in 1999. Rivetting stuff…enough said! Let’s just say, Medicine was well n’ truly out the window, as was shoe-shining. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just not my dream scenario.

I hated school-work you see. Hanging out with my friends in the yard, smoking, was one thing, but when it came to studying…”no thanks, the tv could use some company.”

In hindsight, this could very well have been my inspiration for William. Thankfully there were no Blackheads or Ms. Cleavers gracing my school halls, though there were some close alternatives…

But not all my subjects made me want to rip fistfuls of my hair out and use it for earplugs. English appealed to me very much. Why? Because English involves writing. And the only ingredients writing requires are passion, patience, and imagination. Not foreign languages or algebra (unless you want to include them, if that’s your thing)

It was my guilty pleasure. I used to love ‘pushing the envelope’ when essay-day arrived. Not out of some twisted enjoyment for the dark and demented things I sometimes wrote about. It was more a case of me wanting to be more original than everyone else. I was always competitive that way.

After my five year stretch, I got out on bail with my mediocre result card, and actually continued to write. This surprised even me. I wrote short stories, the odd poem, and even a few songs. God-awful ones, but I tried it nonetheless. Writing is writing after all – be it a Facebook status or a 1000 page novel.

It was only in October 2002, did my little writing hobby really change the course of my life. I’d begun working on a fantasy called ‘Kaddareth’. In the meantime I was doing a creative writing course at Kilroy’s College, Dublin.

I learned a lot during that course. My tutor, Eileen Casey, was especially supportive. A true model for aspiring writers, and she is an extremely talented author and mentor to many, having written such works as ‘Snow Shoes’ and ‘Drinking the colour blue’.

However, I will never forget the day I was asked to present them with the opening pages of a sample novel.

Thinking nothing of it, I began…

I wrote through the night. Red Bull cans scattered about my desk lamp. By the time I was done, I was well beyond the assignment’s word allowance. The idea was just too vast for a simple 1,500 word exercise. But I liked what I’d written so much that I didn’t want to just send it adrift, nor could I edit it because the details were just too damn essential to the plot. So I contacted the college the following morning and asked if I could exceed it, just this once – with sugar on top. As expected, no such permsission was granted, which was perfectly fair (and to this day I’m glad!)

So I put that story to one side, submitted some other ‘thrown-together’ piece, and straight-away returned to the other.

That piece was the beginnings of ‘The Other of One’…

I have since ditched Kaddareth and have continued on this course; adding on further installments to (what has become known as) ‘The Other of One’ series as I go. Best of all, it has been so well received! And with a little luck, even more people will get to read it in the future. People like you. I only hope you enjoy it as much, because if you do, then I will have a whole other world waiting for you to explore…

In the XXI century, “God” remains an unknown value to humans. Although “God” is the fundamental value in this world, as he is the Creator of all. A modern human cannot accept the idea of the existence of “God” due to lack of evidence that “God” exists. “Blind faith” is an indicator of low level of development of individuals, and is no longer a common stance of modern people, even those who are not well educated. People are willing to believe only that what they can see with their own eyes, test, and, of course, use in everyday life. That is normal, natural.
People only declare that they believe in “God.” No one really believes in him because human intellect is created in such a way that one is unable to take something seriously without evidence. Not to mention that recipes that religion offers as a practical guide—do not hold water from the point of view of a modern person. Also, in the eternal debate of psychologists: what is primary, “soul” or body, “soul loses” only because psychologists do not know anything about it. Despite the fact that “soul” (psyche) is the focus of this “science.” Shortfalls of medicine, psychology, anthropology, and other sciences that study human beings affected people’s attitude towards religion.
However, religion, unlike science, has existed for many centuries. Despite everything, it continues to exist today. This clearly indicates that humanity can exist without science, but not without belief in some “Higher Powers,” something supernatural that, unlike modern science, has the ability to solve any problems of humans. One can admit this to himself or not, it does not matter. And, even more so, it does not matter whether this role is filled by biblical “God” (or those gods, which religions offer to consider gods) or not.
As it is known, there are books much older than the Bible, Torah, Quran, etc. Some of these books date tens of millions of years back. Studying one of these books (according to some researchers, this manuscript dates 21st century BC), we found answers to all of our questions because this book turned out to be nothing other than the “Catalog of Human Souls.” It is a catalog because this book contains descriptions of about three hundred models of psyche of homo sapiens. Moreover, it holds detailed instructions on how this or that person can realize the main “Divine Plan”: make himself/herself “the image and likeness of God.” In this book about three hundred ways to achieve this state for humans were discovered. This book is a direct proof of existence of “God”; the segment which religious institutions and their congregations have always needed, but lacked. Any person can compare descriptions from the Catalog to real people, their individual qualities, life algorithms, etc., or use information about how this or that person can be controlled, apply it in practice, see the reactions and get real results from manipulation.

“God” created a human in His Image and Likeness, and implanted potential of a Creator into each person. And, gave everyone the freedom to choose exactly how and in what direction to use their existing abilities. The “Divine Will” in respect to a Human was recorded in the “Catalog of Human Souls.” However, humanity lost this Catalog, and began to use “God”-given potential in a completely different way. In the direction opposite of the “Divine Plan,” people began to create artificial images.

We feel that the tradition of “True Faith,” which actually is Knowledge, should be revived. Everywhere. Globally. We propose a new ideology of religions and its practical implementation. We propose to finally determine the answer to who is, at least, a Human. And, to move the theory of existence of “God,” the human “Soul” from the status of a theory, which can only be believed in, into the status of a theory that any person can test. New ideology of religions, created on the basis of evidence for “God’s” existence produced strictly by scientific methods, can bring people back to “God.”

Troy Veenstra grew up in the city of Wyoming Michigan. He was born the eldest of two brothers and two sisters. In 1998 after the death of his father: who he quit school to take care of, he went to live with his maternal grandparents, living with them until they passed away one after the other in 1999.

The Jake Monday Chronicles began in 2003 when I wrote a short story about an assassin named Jake Monday. I had no plans, really, but I had a sentence running through my head. The sentence that launched this series began: “Jake Monday hated Mondays more than any other day of the week.”

The idea that a high-profile assassin would be unhappy, unsatisfied, and struggling with his past and future, is not unique. I wanted to explore new areas of this theme. I thought of family, of a past hidden, of the moral challenge of an individual that finds himself caught in a massive global conspiracy while grappling with the choices he has made, willingly or not.

So, Jake Monday is my Jason Bourne. Hallie is my Sidney Bristow (from Alias). My villains…well, they are all my own. I love to draw villains who are deep, believable, and scary. Not because they always represent the antithesis of the hero, but just the opposite: my villains are not much different than all of us. I do not believe in “grey areas,” but I do believe the line between good and evil can be narrow. One wrong move and even someone like Jake Monday can be heading in the wrong direction.

Her brother’s new neighbour Tony or her sister in law’s brother, the wayward Adam. Both of whom she really likes but the pair aren’t your usual run of the mill suitors.
But you have to be very careful for what you wish for as Maya then finds out the downside of getting pregnant and how it can really destroy your soul and diminish your hope if things go unexpectedly wrong.
A heart wrenching story dedicated to all women who have loved and lost in the battle to become pregnant when they’re ‘Pushing over 40’… or not.

Here’s the bottom line… I love to laugh, I love to drink and I love to eat.

I also love writing.

As a child I had stories going through my head. It took me a long time to realise I should write them down, therefore clearing my mind. Little did I know another one would pop up!

I wanted to be painter since I was a child. I was told, while being assessed at the end of my art foundation, I should go into drama or be a stand-up comedian. I’m short, so even if I did ‘stand up’ it’d be hard to see me and I realise that was their way of telling me I was rubbish at art.

I’ve worked in various jobs and I have been extremely lucky to do what I wanted to do… though I have a habit of changing my mind every so often.

If you want something, go for it. The only thing holding you back is you. You only have one life so don’t say ‘if only’ say ‘well at least I tried’.

Writing, like anything creative, is an exposure. Not everyone likes what you write, what you say or what you think… but some people do. That’s my focus. On the people who like what you write… what I write.
The stories are written in British English… and translates perfectly for all!

utumn, 1888. The population of London is transfixed and horrified by the atrocious and horrific murder spree being conducted by Jack the Ripper.
The newspapers are full of the details of the mutilations perpetrated by the killer and the apparent inability of the police to apprehend the unknown assailant. As Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Sir Charles Warren throws the bulk of his investigative resources into the search for The Ripper, and the tabloid press scream of the crimes in banner headlines on a daily basis; on the new, ultra modern Underground Railway that has revolutionized travel around the great metropolis for the working man, another, less well publicized killer is at large.

Tucked away on the inner pages of the daily press, hardly enough to raise an eyebrow among discerning readers, one may have found a few, short articles which told of the strange and also, so far unsolved murders which are taking place on board the carriages of the new-fangled and much heralded transport system. Each murder takes place the day after one of the ripper killings, as the murderer appears to be taking advantage of the lack of police resources to tackle not one, but two major investigations simultaneously.

Inspector Albert Norris is charged with bringing the railway killer to justice, but, as with case of Jack the Ripper, clues are few, the killer’s motive unclear, and he is forced to carry out his investigations ‘quietly and without causing a public panic’ as the authorities seek to prevent a loss of confidence in the safety of the underground railway system. The press are being told even less, hence the minimal coverage, and Norris can count on little help from above as he attempts to solve the inexplicable series of murders.

His works include the winner of The Preditors & Editors Best Thriller Novel 2008 Award, A Study in Red — The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper and its sequels, Legacy of the Ripper and the final part of his Ripper trilogy, Requiem for the Ripper, all signed for movie adaptation by Thunderball Films (L.A.), with A Study in Red already in the development stages of production.
