I, Vatali Zinchenko, am a full time writer, life guru and self-help instructor, and I have personally experienced the downward spiral that is addiction. Enthusiastic about the American Dream, I decided to emigrate from USSR to USA during, when I was in my teen years with the help of my parents.
As my hormones were going in all directions I found myself perusing different goals than I had previously anticipated. A teenager, I found the pleasure of masturbating, while watching pornographic content. Although, this seemed perfectly normal, I started going on the downward spiral and lost focus. Everything in my life came crashing down, as I lost touch with my friends and loved ones, while focusing on the pleasures that pornography and masturbation was giving me.
I didn’t manage to notice how fast time passed me by and a few years later; I had finished high school, but didn’t go into college. Without a job, my days consisted of trying to survive and pay the rent, by getting loans from everyone I could possibly imagine. I had no ambition or drive as the pornographic addiction in my life has taken everything from me.
The worst part was the fact that I was constantly changing my viewing desires every single week. Starting with soft-core porn, I later began searching for more weird pornographic content that would satisfy my interests. It wasn’t until one moment of epiphany when I was searching the deepest corners of the web for disgusting materials to get me aroused, that my life changed forever.
As if awaken from a coma, seeing the videos that were on my computer screen I felt truly ashamed of myself. I couldn’t recall when the past few years have gone by. Even though luck stroke me and I found a job decent enough for me to get back on my feet and pay the rent, pornography and masturbation addiction was always there, like a black cloud, following me closely.
Hopeless, I attended a ton of self-help seminars and read a lot of books on how to deal with self-discipline, but I just couldn’t find the right path. After years of getting knowledgeable about psychology, how the human mind works and the strategies used by hundreds of professors and life-gurus, I finally managed to achieve the self-discipline I craved for and overcoming pornography addiction for me became an easy task.
Amazed by how combining different strategies for self-discipline and self-improvement results in an easy way out from a pornography addiction, I decided that I should share his knowledge with a few of the friends I got close to, when attending the self-help seminars that were experiencing the same problems. When I was younger I never stopped writing until I was nine, when one of the girls in my class had enough of me being praised and tore up my newest story. After that I didn’t write until I was eleven and what came out scared me. I never expected myself to write about kidnappings and torture when I was that age. I didn’t write for along time because of that, apart from to get my emotions out. Thankfully I tore up everything I wrote over the next decade and a half. I was extremely depressed and working my way out of it so what came out was not good at all.
As soon as I was out of it -in the sense that I could stop myself from falling very far when my brain did it’s evil work on me- I wanted to start to write again but didn’t know what to write until I read Noble rot by Holly Black, which is a beautiful short urban horror story. Once I figured out what I wanted to write I thought for a while, putting what would become choice together in my head and then I started to write it. A couple months in I stopped writing because I thought it wouldn’t go anywhere so what would be the point.
Thankfully the story would not leave my head in peace until I eventually sat down and wrote it almost two years later. I sent it away to a publishers and after four days I had a reply from them saying that they wanted my book. It has now been over a year since I had the email back from them and I also have two more books out in different genres, yet I am still in shock that I am actually living the dream that I had thought was impossible and I don’t know when it will truly sink in. I adore Edgar Allan Poe and when I started “Forevermore” by Jim Musgrave I thought, “Oh no…another book about how bad Poe was.” Was I in for a marvelous shock! The author, Jim Musgrave, envisioned a young man who admired Poe, even lived in his cottage, and wished to find out what Poe died of, why and who was responsible for the death of the dark poet.Delving into Poe’s life just before he died, Patrick O’Malley began his quest into Poe’s death. The search for the truth led him to many famous writers such as Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who hated Poe. John Anderson, the owner of a tobacco shop, who violated a young woman who worked for him, is another. She was the famous “Mary” from one of Poe’s novels. O’Malley was told Anderson paid Poe to write the tale to avoid suspicion regarding her death. Oddly enough, John Anderson lived in Sleepy Hollow made famous by the tale of the “Headless Horseman”. Other famous names were sprinkled throughout this mystery. Literary references ran rampant and Musgrave was adept at making them fit into his tale.
You will also be introduced to the low life. McKenzie, who became a protector, was head of the Plug Uglies. I’ll let you read the book to find out what that means. I also met a certain Madame who introduced O’Malley to heights he had never attained before. You will find Joshua Reynolds a person who could have been the subject of Poe’s worst visions.
There is no generally accepted reason for Poe’s death. Some said alcohol, some dementia and others believed diabetes. We know he died in Baltimore in the gutter, dressed like a bum. Mr. Musgrave weaved a wonderful tale and came up with a perfectly believable reason for not only how Poe died, but also why he died like a bum. He was killed. If you want to know by whom, you will have to read the book.

My great desire is the revive my inner world by a combination of visual art and the world of words.I was born in Jerusalem, Israel. I am a graduate of the art department, Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem (B.A) and combines adult and children’s fiction, painting and sculpture.

Some of my stories are rooted in reality, but many of them sail into the realms of myth, dream, and imagination.

Chava Epstein was born in Jerusalem, Israel. She is a graduate of the art department, Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem (B.A) and combines adult and children’s fiction, painting and sculpture.
She is also a graduate of The Jerusalem Author Prose Writing Workshop, led by the authors Isaac Averbuch Orpaz, Chaim Beer, Shulamit Lapid, and David Grossman.
Some of her stories are rooted in reality, but many of them sail into the realms of myth, dream, and imagination.

I stayed at a mansion and during the night, I heard noises that convinced me the ghost of the sea captain that built the house was roaming the halls looking for his lost love.I haven’t been back to Cape Cod. Now I live in Florida with my husband and two critters. I began my writing career three years ago and when I recalled that mansion on Cape Cod, the story of Mercy and Stephen Truelock was born. It is the second series I’ve written, and while it has a paranormal flavor, at its heart, it is a mystery waiting to be solved.

I come from a long line of storytellers. I remember sitting on the living room floor while the adults told stories, my imagination running gamut over all the possibilities.But I didn’t have the same fascination with the written word; in fact, English was my worst subject in school. I wasn’t able to understand grammar and all the rules and exceptions, let alone understand all the spelling rules and exceptions.
However I loved reading, even though my mind would add words to the pages or miss important words in paragraphs. As an adult working with my children’s homeschooling, I had to deal with their different learning styles. I accidently discovered the main issues I have with “English” are dyslexia. This is self-diagnosed, but it answered many questions I had about learning and why I simply wasn’t able to wrap my mind around grammar and spelling. Coming to the understanding that I really was trying my hardest to do the simple things, the same things others like my mom excelled at, opened my mind to the possibility I was not stupid or lazy.
That was how our team worked, Mom was the nuts and bolts and I did the research and out of the box thinking. I have a lot to be grateful for in my writing career. My mother was my rock, and was able to take what I wrote and make it into what I meant. During the last year of her illness she spoke with our friends and family urging them to support me when I was able to pick up the pieces and start writing again.
Apparently my children took her pleas to heart. They kept telling me to keep writing, they believe I still have stories to tell. Mom also contacted our mentor, JoEllen Conger, and asked her to be my editor and whip cracker if needed. She kept her promise to my mom and has helped me fulfill the dream mom and I had of getting our first manuscript usable.
I have faith that all that has happened was meant to be. I fully believe in a reason, a season or a lifetime. I am grateful for all the support I have from my family and friends and every word I write means success.
