I was born in Israel after the Yom Kippur war. Since I was a kid, I was curious about the world and about us as a species living in it. As a kid I preferred to spend most of my time walking the dogs of my neighborhood and volunteering at the zoo, I found it easier to communicate with animals.
In 1992, After the Gulf war, something has changed in me and I moved from protecting animals to protecting humans, I join a shooting range center and practice shooting with various weapons.
After the army, I traveled for couple of years around the world and end up in New York where I lived for 6 years. While I was there I practice kung-fu, worked as web designer and finished my master degree in administrative science. On 9/11 I was on my way to work. That event brought me back to asking the 1 million dollar questions: “Is this what it’s all about? Is this our purpose in life? To hate and feel hated?” I lost hope.
The discovery of the ancient Mayan calendar and the prophesies surrounding it brought the light back to my life. The Mayans and their Tzolkin calendar gave me hope. For it’s been written thousand years ago that a change will come and that the world can become a better place, but it’s up to us humans to decide if we want to go through the change or not, and if we do, we must do it together.
At 2005 I moved back to Israel, worked as kung-fu instructor and co-funded a web design studio to pay the rent. Galapula was born during the recession of 2008. The idea came to me in a dream and I started writing it as I woke up. This is a book that will charge people with optimism and joy, even if it’s for a short time, it influences and it’s worth it.
As a new mom, I see my kid looking at the world as a place of miracles, where every day there is new exciting information to learn and play with. When I was younger I never stopped writing until I was nine, when one of the girls in my class had enough of me being praised and tore up my newest story. After that I didn’t write until I was eleven and what came out scared me. I never expected myself to write about kidnappings and torture when I was that age. I didn’t write for along time because of that, apart from to get my emotions out. Thankfully I tore up everything I wrote over the next decade and a half. I was extremely depressed and working my way out of it so what came out was not good at all.
As soon as I was out of it -in the sense that I could stop myself from falling very far when my brain did it’s evil work on me- I wanted to start to write again but didn’t know what to write until I read Noble rot by Holly Black, which is a beautiful short urban horror story. Once I figured out what I wanted to write I thought for a while, putting what would become choice together in my head and then I started to write it. A couple months in I stopped writing because I thought it wouldn’t go anywhere so what would be the point.
Thankfully the story would not leave my head in peace until I eventually sat down and wrote it almost two years later. I sent it away to a publishers and after four days I had a reply from them saying that they wanted my book. It has now been over a year since I had the email back from them and I also have two more books out in different genres, yet I am still in shock that I am actually living the dream that I had thought was impossible and I don’t know when it will truly sink in. Until then I am going to continue to write and grow in a way I never would have thought I could.

Tiffany D. Glover, aka Jayne Phlow, has been writing poetry for roughly 25 years and performing for approximately 17 years. Growing up as an only child, Tiffany retreated into her own private world of imaginary friends and books upon books upon books. Get a Grip is a searing collection of 30 very grimy, very raw, very REAL poems, the majority of which are based on specific situations, trials and tribulations that she has had to endure throughout her life thus far. “This is so NOT your friendly, neighborhood, happy poetry,” she explains. “Life is not always cute. Some of the moments I chose to write about weren’t cute. So I couldn’t be cute in penning it. You may not be able to relate to EVERY poem in my book, but I guarantee you’ll relate to AT LEAST one.”

At the age of four, Denver knew she wanted to be a writer. Her grandmother, a Creole from Krotz Springs, LA., kept her and her siblings up at night by telling tantalizing stories of ghosts, ghouls, and the stereo-typical zombies that were a part of her culture and heritage. Denver started incorporating her own imaginary characters in the tales, adding a few details to make the story more frightening, and retold them to her parents, much to their amazement and amusement.
As an adolescent, she spent her afternoons going to the library and reading anything and everything. Mostly books on Roman and Greek mythology, Egyptian folklore, anything that had to do with the strange and unusual. At 13, she began writing her own short stories, and developed a unique style by using actual events and changing them into fictional form.
When her aunt, Mary J. Bowers, wrote a series of romance novels in the mid 80′s, she knew she had found a kindred spirit. The inspiration from her aunts novels opened up the writer lurking inside, encouraging her every step of the way.
Denver has always had a strange fascination with vampires, and wanted to write a story that steered away from the traditional “I vant to suck your blaaahhhd” genre that has sorely been played to the extreme. Being from a small town in Tennessee, the Bible was a significant part of her life, and she especially enjoyed the New Testament and the stories relating Christ’s life. Always curious, she never understood why the Bible didn’t go into more detail about the life of Jesus as a youth or the lives of His beloved apostles after his crucifixion.
So, she decided someone needed to write a story about them. Not the traditional non-fiction drivel, but a new kind of book. With her brain working overtime, Denver began creating a story– a different version of what’s been told for centuries. She asked herself “What if the Apostles were punished for abandoning Jesus and leaving Him to be crucified? What if they were doomed to live forever with the knowledge of their betrayal?” That’s when it came to her.
Denver was going to write a book, merging her two passions, vampire lore and Biblical characters to break away from the humdrum, biting on the neck, look into my eyes, nonsense that has been the staple of all vampire tales. Instead, she developed a story using a different method of transformation. After 10 years of laborious fact checking and meticulous reading, The Vitandi, her first novel was born.
Denver lives in Tennessee with her four children and her husband. She is currently working on a sequel titled, Anathema.
