Scott Prussing was born in New Jersey, but was smart enough to move to beautiful San Diego as soon as he received his Master’s degree in psychology from Yale University. In addition to the six Blue Fire Saga books, Scott also wrote Blue Fire Heat, an erotic companion piece to the Blue Fire Saga, and Blue Fire Beginnings, a collection of short stories recounting the origins of some favorite Blue Fire characters. He is also the author of the mystery/suspense novels Unturned Stones and Tangled Webs, the fantasy/adventure novel Dreams of the Last Born, and the teen romance Mine: A Love Story, whose plot is based on the hit songs of Taylor Swift. Antoine Edwards was raised in the City of Hawthorne, which was one of 88 cities in Los Angeles County. He never knew his father, and his mother was addicted to crack cocaine. His grandmother raised him, and although she wanted the best for him, her plan was unable to compete with the negativity that surrounded them.

Before Antoine became a teenager, he joined the local street gang. The influence of the older members of the gang turned him into an adolescent robber and killer. He embodied the gangster lifestyle and sought to be a successful gangbanger instead of a productive, law-abiding member of society. Antoine cared little about the harm his actions caused his people and community. Go ahead and be hurt—that’s natural. It’s an ego slap. As you get older, you’ll begin to take these more in stride. Sure, you’ll complain about it to a friend, relative, or co-worker, but you’ll get over it.

Look at this book as my way of getting over it. A collection of irreverent, sarcastic, vulgar, crude, whatever-you-call-it essays containing my odd perception of life, which might actually lower my blood pressure by writing, and generate a giggle or two for the reader.

I was born and raised in Somerset, growing up with a love of books and writing. I was always surrounded by books as a child, with a love of them inherited from my mum who taught me to read before I started school. At primary and secondary school I wrote plays, a few of which were performed there; at home I wrote stories and poems too – anything from farce to romance to mystery and often typed on an old portable manual typewriter!

With the practicalities of earning a wage my writing dreams were set aside when I started work.

A more important role took over when I married and then had three children; the joy, experiences and exploits of being a mum gave me plenty of things to write about, mainly surfacing as poems and stories for my children.

Eighteen years spent in a job writing lots of business letters highlighted the fact that the creative writer inside me was desperate to be allowed out more often! After so long in a job which provided neither challenge nor stimulation, my husband said ‘Leave work and become a writer.’ After much soul searching and even guilt, I did.

Now I have the best job in the world; being there for my family and writing when my children are at school. When I write I get lost. I can honestly say that I lose hours when I’m in writing mode; it’s my relaxation and escape. Just as reading a good book takes me to another world or time, so does writing. I can also indulge and incorporate some of my other loves, such as history, music and theatre.

I decided to self publish my first novel after realising how time consuming it was trying to find an agent or publisher. When my husband suggested self publishing I hesitated at first before realising that, with the advent of eBooks and the internet, self publishing had become an accepted, popular and respectable route.

I self published Family of Strangers in October 2013 and was thrilled to then be approached by Creativia who were keen to work together to publish a second edition. Creativia have now published the second edition of Family of Strangers on kindle with the paperback to follow soon.

I’ve been telling stories for a long time but getting one down on paper is another matter! I entered the professional writing world as a freelance writer covering the people behind some impressive motorcycle builds. In my spare time I worked on The Novel…

It takes more time than most would believe possible to get a story to print. I personally found it best to walk away from the project and let it rest awhile. Months and months in fact. Whenever I re-entered the world I’d created for my story, I had a sharper eye for what was a bunch of hogwash and what might be pretty darn good. The right words in the correct order can have a powerful impact and it takes time to fit all of the pieces together.

Support is also needed in a big way. Writers need editors and readers that will preview with a critical eye and not be afraid to tell you the truth. Family needs to understand the vacant look that comes with brain overload while figuring out plots.

Reading is how I relax. I devoured books as a child and that appetite has not diminished. My favorite genre is mystery, but I also venture away from the top ten list of well known mystery writers and read a broad spectrum of non-fiction.

I play a lot during the summer months, not much gets done in the way of work. We are a household of landspeed racers. I race a 1941 Indian Motorcycle and hold records in the 350cc vintage class for both gas and fuel. I’m also proud to be part of history as a Bonneville SCTA starter. The hours are long, the sun is hot, but the reward is inspiring. To witness dreams becoming reality is humbling.
I’m currently working on my next novel,another mystery with a strong female protagonist. (Well, I will be working on it when summer is over!)
