   Author Bio:
   Lt Col Mark E. Berent, USAF (Ret), was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from Cretin High School in St. Paul, Minnesota. Later graduated from Arizona State University under the Air Force Institute of Technology program with a BSME.

   Berent began his Air Force career as an enlisted man, then entered the aviation cadet program. He attended pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi and Laredo Air Force Base, Texas flying the T-6, T-28, and T-33 aircraft. He moved on to F-86 Sabre Jet at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. He served on active duty for 23 years until retirement in 1974. He began his operational flying career in the F-86 and F-100 flying at various posts throughout the United States and Europe. He later served three combat tours, completing 452 combat sorties flying the F-100 at Bien Hoa Air Base, South Vietnam, next the F-4 at Ubon Royal Thai Air Base, Thailand. After those tours, he was stationed in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for two years to fly things with propellers on them and through a fluke in communications timing, to personally run the air war for a few weeks from a most unusual place.

   He has also served two tours at the United States Space and Missile System Organization (SAMSO) at Los Angeles, California working first in the Satellites Control Facility and later as a staff developmental engineer for the space shuttle. In his expansive career he has seen service as an Air Attaché to the United States Embassy, Phnom Penh, Cambodia and also as Chief of Test Control Branch at the Air Development and Test Center at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. He also served as an instructor at the Air Force’s Squadron Officer School.

   During his flying career he has logged over 4300 hours of flying time, 1084 of those in combat missions in the F-100, F-4, C-47 and U-10 over North and South Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. He has flown 30 different aircraft.

   His decorations include the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross with one oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star, Air Medal with twenty four oak leaf clusters, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Cambodian Divisional Medal, and numerous Vietnam Campaign ribbons. He completed jump school with the Special Forces. Later, he jumped with and was awarded Cambodian paratrooper wings. He also flew with and received Cambodian pilot wings.

   After leaving the Air Force he lived in Europe to establish and direct international operations for the sale of spares for military aircraft. He has flown many foreign aircraft such as the Swedish Viggen and Royal Air Force Jaguar and Hawk. He also established Berent and Woods Inc, a firm that managed many aviation related activities.

   Over the years he had published numerous articles for such publications as Air Force Magazine and the Washington Times, and for 18 years wrote a monthly pilot/reporter column for the Asian Defense Journal. Under the name Berent Sandberg he and Peter Sandberg collaborated on three novels. He now has five Vietnam air war historical fiction novels in print, Rolling Thunder, Steel Tiger, Phantom Leader, Eagle Station, and Storm Flight. (The Wings of War series.)

   Berent states it is never too late for any endeavor: he published the first of his five book Wings of War series at age 58, ran his first Marathon at 59, bought a T-6 warbird and flew in airshows at 64, and rode in his first cattle roundup in Montana at 74.

    John C. Bodin and Ron Collins met while working at the Naval Avioncs Center, located (naturally) in Indianapolis, Indiana. They quickly learned they both had natural affinities for automobile racing and day-tight compartments. Only some years later did they realize they both were writing on the side, a pairing that led to them being involved in the same writers group. Somewhere along the way, John got Ron hooked on sim racing (that’s Ron’s story, anyway), and they joined the Virtual Online Racers (VOR) as a team racing in the Grand Prix Legends simulation. From that point forward, a literary collaboration was predestined.

    John C. Bodin:

    By nighttime, John C. Bodin is a well-known superhero of the sim racing community, and is a tireless advocate of the sport. He can be found on the iRacing track and in their forum boards pretty much every day, and is a staunch advocate of new racers. He spends hours helping new members get comfortable in what can feel like an intimidating environment. He also works at developing mods and hardware that supports virtual racers everywhere. In the daytime, John now works at a major pharmaceutical company as a process automation engineer in the information technology field.     I lived in Mexico in 2009 and 2010 and suffered the murder of a young friend who was kidnapped, tortured, shot, and left in a vacant field in his home city of Monterrey. Israel was a bright and handsome college student. The mistake that cost him his life was to meet the wrong person at a party: She was the estranged wife of a drug cartel leader in Monterrey, but she didn’t tell Israel. Their flirtation put an end to his life and the dreams for him of all who loved him. I was aware of the violence in Mexico when I arrived and tried to stay alert.     My life is much less exciting than my writing (thank goodness, because I put my characters through hell!)

    I am the lucky father of three young children, and live in Brisbane, Australia. I attended James Cook University from 1991 to 1998, graduating with a Bachelor of Biological Science with duel majors in Zoology and Archaeology, a First Class Honors Degree in Underwater Archaeology, and a Masters Degree in Environmental Management.

    To date, I have completed three novels, titled FAST (a military thriller), PLAZA (an archaeological thriller), and MELT. FAST and PLAZA are both the first books in a set of trilogies. MELT is a stand alone psychological thriller. My final title, AFTER, is a collection of short stories.

    Right now I am working on the sequel to FAST, and very much enjoying my role in assisting with the development of a feature film based on one of my short stories.

    Jennifer is in her early 30′s, and grew up in New York

    City. She attended Columbia University.

    Jennifer enjoys working on characters for her short stories, and plot

    lines while sipping coffee in Central Park on her favorite bench. She

    claims that the buzz of people around her contributes to her

    creativity. Other favorite places to compose stories include Grand

    Central Terminal, riding the Metro during off-peak times, and in the

    lobby of the Plaza Hotel.
    Oftentimes, she is inspired by people she interacts with or observes

    out in the world, and very much incorporates scenarios and

    characteristics into her writing. Sometimes, story lines occur

    naturally, as though the universe is giving her a present. Other

    times, she struggles for days or weeks to map out a story.
    To combat writer’s block and other common ails that seem to plague

    artists, Jennifer turns to long walks and of course, chocolate. The

    best walks are those where she gets on a train and randomly selects a

    stop. Many surprising shops and late-night diners (and characters, for

    that matter) have been discovered this way.
    Jennifer loves New York City, and all of the people that find refuge

    here. She maintains close friendships with those she grew up with, and

    is very active with her local writer’s group. Her hobbies include

    traveling to far-flung destinations to soak up local culture, and she

    has never missed an opportunity to try out her skills as an aspiring

    photographer.
