I was born in Bountiful, Utah in 1979. My passion for writing began with Jacque Pennington, who taught me English as parts of speech in Middle School. By the age of seventeen, I had written my first full length feature film script. During that same time, I went on to win editor’s choice awards for my poetry and was invited to the National Poet’s Symposium in Washington DC at the age of eighteen.

I wrote another full length feature film at the age of eighteen and started writing novels shortly thereafter. As I have a very discerning taste, many of my first novels were cast into the trash as they didn’t have enough clout to hold my interest.

In 2005 I started attending the University of Phoenix. I was fortunate enough to be mentored by Don Miles during that time. My career as an Internet Marketing Manager took off around this time and the novel Isiah’s Skirmish was put on hold. In 2012, I was prompted to work extremely hard and finish the remaining 170 pages of Isiah’s Skirmish as it had been near completion for many years.

Author Bio:
If taking a college fencing class, eating from the trash can, and smelling like an animal were qualifications for becoming a sword-swinging barbarian, J. D. Brink might be Conan’s protégé. But since that career path seemed less than promising, he has instead been a sailor, spy, nurse, and officer in the U.S. Navy, as well as a gravedigger, insurance adjuster, and school teacher in civilian life. His written work has appeared online on Pseudopod.org and Ascent Aspirations, and in Tales of the Talisman and Cemetery Moon magazines. In 2012, his SF novelette The Thorne Legacy was a quarter finalist in the Writer’s of the Future Contest. Today (spring, 2014) he and his family live in south Texas, where the heat makes smelling like an animal a natural part of life.
