I encourage everybody to try something new as many times in their life without taking it too seriously, or thinking about it too much. This can be as simple as trying a new hobby or sport, or something major like a career change.

A good major decision was changing careers. While this is in the works, I don’t regret taking that plunge, because if I didn’t, its uncertain as to how I would feel right now. Working in an office environment just became too repetitive, stressful, unfulfilling, and not rewarding like I thought it would be. It was the same old thing, I wasn’t helping people, and I wasn’t helping myself. With the economical shifts in the past decade, that made it unstable as I hopped from job to job.

My hobbies include fitness, hiking, working out at home, holistic workshops, food preparation, movies, reading, writing articles and guides, blogging, networking, floor hockey, dodge ball, touch football, and ultimate frisbee.

I immersed myself in books, classes, and seminars trying to learn everything I could about investing. I had been interested in investing for a really long time, but wasn’t sure exactly what route to take. Through my education I found out that I loved real estate.I eventually started a real estate investment business with my fiance. It’s a passion that I still currently do and brings a lot of fulfillment to my life.

During 2 years of running that business, it showed me how much the education that I got beforehand helped me with my deals. It had allowed me to become successful quickly by learning the correct steps and not making the same mistakes that my teachers had made.

Rob Gregson spent much of his youth reading fantasy novels, immersing himself in role playing games and generally doing everything possible to avoid life in the real world. In his defence, we’re talking about the late 1980s – a time when ridiculous hair, hateful pop music and soaring unemployment were all very popular – so it wasn’t altogether a bad decision. However, had he abandoned the realms of elves and wizardry at an earlier age, he might have developed one or two useful life skills and he would almost certainly have found it easier to get a girlfriend.

Since that time, he and reality have developed a grudging tolerance of one another although their relationship still goes through the occasional bad patch and his first two novels – Unreliable Histories and The Endless Land – are evidence of that.
