I am amazed by the diversity of the Earth, by her cultures and her mythologies, her symbolisms and her colors that spring so incessantly from that stream, as Joseph Campbell writes, that bubbles up from the deepest reaches of our collective unconscious to influence and inform and ultimately to unify the universes that flow within and without us.

In 1985, I had the distinct privilege of interviewing Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross for my one-act play Windstorm. Here was a celebrated doctor who had penetrated the fourth wall, who saw visions, who communicated with the dead, and who, through her visions, taught us more about, as she said, not how to die, but how to live.

While producing the play festival CelebrateWomen, I interviewed another great woman, Cahuilla elder Katherine Siva Saubel. Dr. Saubel, like Dr Ross, was a great healer, and a great visionary. She could call the wind by whistling for it to blow down from the mountains to cool the steaming valley below. From her oral history, I wrote first the play We Are Still Here; then, as a recipient of a California Council for the Humanities grant, I adapted the play for a documentary of the same title.

In 2011, I published Ouray’s Peak, a coming age novel that follows the journey of Kristin Tabor as she treks cross-country journey to find her mother, and eventually, her heart.

2012 saw the publication of the first two books of the Stone Quest Series: Deset Chimera and Gallows Ascending which follow the journey of recluse, tracker, and reluctant pyschic visionary Luke Stone, and take the reader deep within Luke’s paranormal universe.

I have just completed Neuri Shape-Shifter, the third book in the Stone Quest series, and am embarking upon a series of short stories that will illuminate further the lives of the characters in my debut novel The Women Debrowska. I am also looking forward to participating in an anthology of Magical Realism tales under the auspices of Zoe Brooks. In addition, Ouray’s Peak is in pre-production for the screen.

The book tracks my odyssey through college, NY slums, domestic peace corps, welfare, running a home for mental patients, land lording, and writing.

This book shows how probably most people’s ideas would have been formed if they had had my experiences of: growing up in in the conservative ’50s in one of the most conservative areas (Orange County, Calif.), moving to one of the most liberal (New York City), serving in the liberal domestic peace corps, working in liberal social work in the liberal late ’60s, living in the slums, starting and running a home for mental patients, and becoming a landlord in ’78.

It shows how liberals, in their quest for “social justice,” think that those with more somehow cheated those with less. Those with more are “guilty” and those with less are “victims.” Thus liberals favor tenants over landlords, labor over management, consumers over business, minorities over whites, the young over the old [establishment], the poor over “society,” and criminals and bums over “society.”

The upper and middle classes would like the book as they are portrayed as the “oppressive” establishment. The working class would like it as they are often told something’s wrong with their position. The responsible poor would like it as it separates them from the irresponsible.

It would be useful to those at all levels in charity, teaching, law, corrections, police work, journalism, religion, and politics. It should be basic for students considering social work. It explains the quote [by Churchill?]: ‘If you’re 20 and not a liberal, you have no heart. If you’re 40 and not conservative, you have no brain.’

It draws on the views of Ronald Reagan, Milton Friedman, Edward Banfield, Jack Kemp, Dick Armey, and Thomas Sowell.

At the same time I began to see that the attack on a drug user was easier to manipulate than a person that never dabbled in drug use. It all came to me then and the title for the book came to me. People in the Walls. Everyone thinks that it is about

something totally different than what it is about. In other words the Title is not what most people think. Young Quinn keeps hearing people making sounds in the walls and he doesn’t

know how it could be there.

But it turns out that he has been lured into a home that contains a secret chamber where there are actually people gathering down there in secret. Very freaky and a situation where Good and Evil began to settle a deal because it turns out that Quinn is a chosen one. Even he does not know it. I don’t know how people will take this story at first but after it has been around awhile I think folks will see where I have been trying to go with this one. The hardest part of writing the book was committing to an ending. I didn’t want to have a boring outcome or ending but it was hard to decide what to cause the ending to be. After I did however, I think it worked.

While devoting himself to meditation, Noah also managed to achieve worldly success as he worked on the trading floor at Goldman Sachs in New York, traveled around Europe as a corporate strategy consultant based out of London, and was accepted into the prestigious Mensa society.

In the summer of 2009, Noah’s life drastically changed when, in one moment, the vast majority of his thoughts just vanished from his mind. Without almost all of his thoughts, Noah was left with the indescribable experience of peace, freedom, and wholeness that he had always been longing for. As it turned out, this wasn’t just a passing experience, and almost all of his thoughts barely attempted to return.

Once Noah’s mind had become predominantly silent, any time a new thought entered his mind and tried to create suffering, he could see very clearly how the thought wasn’t true. What he discovered was that when he didn’t believe his thoughts, his thoughts stopped creating emotions, and they stopped taking his attention. That left Noah with the virtually uninterrupted experience of peace.

Noah then left the corporate world to dedicate his life to helping others to live in peace, mostly by sharing his 5-step process for how to identify and stop believing the thoughts that create everyone’s unwanted emotions.
