Yes, I write novels, but I hate being pigeon-holed into any specific genre, so I’m a multi-genre author. My first book, the science fiction novel Tigra, was followed by its sequel, Tigra II: for the Sins of Rothra Orr. It is, in a general sense, a space opera, though the phrase has never set right with me. It is also an alien romance story, though again, it is not a romance novel per-se.

Wanting to stretch my writing wings, I then wrote the humorous mystery novel, Fat Chance, about a New York private eye who is forced to help solve a missing persons case in rural new Mexico. This is a light, breezy read, something to take to the beach and hopefully make you laugh loud enough to disturb those near you.

Diving back into science fiction, I next tackled a dark, dystopian, tale of the the last city on Earth, a city on the edge of ruin, being torn apart by ancient, ethnic hatreds. Angel of the City is told from the viewpoint of a brain-damaged thief, hired to rescue a political prisoner from an authoritarian police state.

My latest novel, Neverworld: The Other Side of the Map, again changes genre. It is a middle grade/ young fantasy adult novel of a girl searching for the mother who abandoned her at birth. Her search takes her to a place of myth and legend, of pirates and vampires and ogres. The sequel is almost finished.

About Trump’s America: Destroying the Foundation of America’s Values

Americans elected Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States because they wanted change. Tired of career politicians many Americans thought Trump would bring a refreshing change to America. Trump, a successful businessman, promised Americans he would boost wealth and make America strong but instead has increased America’s debt by 2 trillion dollars, increased the deficit by 319 billion dollars, passed a tax reform bill which benefited the wealthy, started a trade war with our trade partners causing taxpayers 12 billion dollars to bail out our farmers, further divided our country socially and economically and befriended our worse enemies while berating our allies. In his 2020 budget, he proposes making huge cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and programs which assist the less fortunate areas which he promised not to cut. As Americans, we need to wake up, and realise our country is going down a terrible path and President Trump’s policies and actions are destroying the very foundation and core values established by our country’s forefathers.
Most Americans work hard to try and make a living and a good life for their families. However, for many, this is a struggle with over 42 per cent of Americans making less than a living wage and have to work two or three jobs to survive. Over12 per cent of Americans can’t afford health insurance for themselves and their families. Working Americans are not looking for a handout but a way to survive and improve life for their families.
Americans want a fair, equitable system. American worker’s wages have not substantially increased over the years while their benefits have decreased or eliminated. On the other hand, American CEO’s incomes have increased more than 930 per cent since 1978. The system is broke; American workers should not be slaves to the wealthy and greedy.
Americans workers should be paid a living wage, have affordable health care and not have to worry about being unable to retire. The majority of Americans would like a universal health care system which will guarantee health care for all Americans. It is sad that we are the only developed country in the world without a universal health care system. We need an educational system which will provide our children with the tools needed to advance in society. Educating the population and providing a working wage will reduce crime and welfare thus saving our country money. If our elected officials work together to cut government fraud, waste and abuse there would be sufficient funds for universal health care and free education for our citizens.
We as a country need to work together as a nation with everyone treated equally. We need to get over treating individuals differently due to race, sex and ethnicity but treat everyone the same. There should be no government handouts to anyone who is capable of making a living wage.
Our country is in desperate need for a leader who can unify our country not divide it. A leader who will be honest and not continually lie — a leader who has integrity and the best interest of our country and all its citizens. America needs to get back on track and return to the country the world admires and respects. As citizens, we need to elect officials who want what is best for the country and its citizens, not special interest groups. As citizens, we need to come together as we always have in the past to ensure our country remains a country run by the people for the people.

Where they embark on a dhow bound for the Kenyan coast. Then they, journey by bus and the newly revamped East African railway undetected into the very heart of Uganda and the assassination of their President.

Meanwhile, two unlikely soldiers of fortune join forces to organise this army. They are Bernie Van de Merwe, a Boer renegade from many African guerrilla wars and Saleh Al Othman, a Saudi veteran from the Afghani and Iraqi campaigns. Together they make a formidable training team moulding the Railway Workers into an efficient killing machine. There is only one problem; they hide a terrible secret that might be their undoing. Initially it is revealed by an investigative journalist, Betty Wasajja and later by a police officer, Lieutenant Enebu. This is something the mercenaries have to attend to before they can go to war.

In order for them to be effective, they need the latest weaponry. The first twenty year of the author’s career was as a Secondary School teacher, over half in African countries, while of the last twenty was as an English teacher, almost half was in the Arab world. Throughout that time he did a lot of academic writing, related to the subject being taught at the time. As a settled expat he experienced living in different environments, witnessing wanton acts of violence, unbelievable acts of generosity, and at the same time rubbing shoulders with diverse peoples. His novels reflect this.

For the past decade, his energies had been channelled into writing poetry as well as prose. He started a Writers’ Group at the local Community Hub. They have entered writing competitions and produced magazines for children as well as adults.

His first book “No-one’s perfect” (91,534 words) was self-published through Amazon Kindle Direct. It is the biography of a Roman Catholic priest accused of a number of inappropriate sexual activities throughout his career. It examines public attitudes to paedophilia over the last fifty years and explores the role of institutions in covering it up throughout the same period.

His second novel, “Jambiya” (74,161 words) follows a group of British-Pakistani nationals, some of whom have fought for Daesh, others just want to stop British forces killing Muslims worldwide. They volunteer to attack key facilities in England. Belatedly, the Security Services discover the plot and struggle to thwart their plans.

His third book is a trilogy, again examining how unscrupulous men use religion to manipulate events. This time he is expounding the possibility of Islam spreading south from the Arab North; Egypt, Algeria and Libya, through the Central Savanna lands and into the mineral rich Republic of South Africa.
