The author bio….mine could be told in one short paragraph as I’m pretty dull, really. I’m just an ordinary guy who loves stories so much that I began writing them. I have nothing particular to tout, I’m not a world traveler like Ernest Hemingway nor a great scholar like Chase Twichell. As far as writing goes, I’m strictly of the blue-collar variety.
That’s okay, though, because I have stories to tell—lots of them. And my stories are a great deal more interesting than I am.
For me there has always been something about books that is nearly beyond description. A book’s power to captivate like no other medium is, to me at least, pure magic. When I read a good story, I become more than just a spectator flipping pages. For the brief time that I’m allowed into these worlds it’s almost like I’m really there, rooting for heroes and hating villains, applauding triumphs and crying over tragedies. I become emotionally invested in the characters that I’m reading about and they will often stick with me long after I’ve finished the book.
So here I am, at the beginning of this road. Maybe you’d like to come along and see where it leads.

Thanks to my grandmother, Nancy Woollcott Smith, I started out in life with the delusion that writing was a thing grown-ups did. Becoming a writer seemed almost as realistic an ambition as becoming an accountant, though less lucrative. That delusion led me to a couple of decades of irregular and mostly profitless work, but it’s also kept me going.
In high school I wrote two novels with a friend. We passed chapters back and forth in between classes. They were written on paper, the first book long-hand, the second on computer. That was before the internet. During the fall and winter after I graduated from college, I wrote a novella/poetry collection, still unpublishable or at least unmarketable. I sent it to about a half dozen agents and collected their more-or-less gentle rejections.
In 2002, I launched into my current project, a multi-volume epic fantasy about the last generation of a land animated by dragon-gods. I set it aside when I had my first baby, and returned to it once my younger child started school. I’ve also written a stand-alone Regency romance, a historical fantasy novella, and a screenplay. I plan to complete and publish the rest of the fantasy series in 2016.

A Personal Note From The Author:
Unfortunately, I came up with the title of this book—and a pretty big chunk of the plot-line—the day I washed my face in a toilet. In my defense, we were living in the middle of nowhere, and a brutal storm had left us with no hydro, no heat, no lights and no running water for almost a week. I was cold and grimy, and by the fifth day I snapped. I pulled the top off the toilet tank and peered in. The water had been sitting there for days, so it smelled really funky. Also, every chain and bobbly thing in there was covered with a thick layer of (and here, I’m using the scientific term) bleck. Still, I was desperate. So I used the slimy toilet tank water and had what was probably the fastest sponge bath on record.
Sadly, the curry incident happened to me, too. Shortly before I boarded an eight-hour flight from England to Canada, a friend took me out for a huge curry feast. I’d never had curry, and my intestines weren’t sure what to do with the stuff, so they promptly rejected it. I developed a massive case of explosive curry farts. I kept my coat zipped up for the entire flight home, hoping that would hide the smell. It didn’t. Toxic gasses trickled out through the neck of the coat, assaulting me and all of the passengers who were stuck sitting around me. Ironically, the coat made the problem worse, because it made me sweat—I was leaking curry vapors out of every pore of my body. This book is a labor of love—but it’s laced with some of my most cringe-worthy experiences, too!

Q – So, what makes the Remembering Raven series special?
A – It’s a mixture of things, actually. When I started writing these books, I wanted to create a series of books that I would love to read. I love paranormal romances and vampire love stories, but I also love books with some action and a strong female character. I tried to roll of these interests into one series.
