Annie enjoys naming her characters and she does this at the start of her writing process. Many of the characters in her stories are named after people who have been or are currently important in her life. Neither character is based on their personalities, but she used their names as a tiny tribute.

Annie lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and two cats. Reading and various crafts are her favorite things to do. There are many other reasons to polish up your medieval vocabulary. Expanding your medieval words can increase your pleasure and comprehension for medieval period literature, medieval period poetry or any renaissance period literature. And, if you are a writer, you cannot expect your characters to speak modern. It would not do for the Knights of the Round Table to speak like rappers.
“Yo Lancelot dawg. Wassup?” or ladies in distress to sound like the modern socialite, “I was so… Eeeew! Dragon breath get some mouthwash!”
But you do not need to be a writer or even a poet to appreciate medieval words. Medieval sayings (medieval phrases) can be hauntingly beautiful or downright amusing. Regardless, you just need to love the age. And who doesn’t? The medieval age was where men were knights and women fair maidens. When honor was fought over in dueling jousts. It was an age of chivalry and courtliness. It was also an age of intrigue and corruption. The most grievous evil co-existed with the most upright good. A time of battles and skirmishes, clash of wills and armies. Few are the boys who have not pretended to be daring knights riding fiery warhorses, charging an implacable enemy. Few girls have not imagined themselves as princesses waiting for a dashing warrior in shining armor to rescue them. It was the age of heroes.
It is therefore no wonder then that even centuries later, the medieval age is period of time that is an almost inexhaustible source of inspiration. From the Game of Thrones, Knight’s Tale to Dragon Heart, countless Hollywood hits and bestsellers have been based on this age. And it is easy to predict that this trend will continue for at least decades to come.
When I set out to write this book, I will have to admit, I was but indulging my passion for the language of this period. Researching and compiling these terms was more pleasure than work. However, that does not detract (another medieval word) from the general usefulness of this book. Consider this not just as a glossary of medieval terms but as a valuable resource for researchers, writers, poets, playwrights and medieval maniacs. It is designed not just to tell you the meaning of the words but also to provide a conduit of rich insights into this age. It is through its language that the medieval age comes alive yet again. It is through these words that kings and princes, dukes and knights walk the earth all over again. I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I did writing it.

Q – Why do you enjoy writing children’s books?
A – It’s a mixture of things, actually. I loved reading as a child. I would often spend my weekends either at the local library, or curled up in our lazy-boy chair reading. I knew I wanted to instill that love of reading into my children from as early an age as possible. The first children’s book I wrote was called, Casey’s First Tooth, about my oldest daughter getting her first tooth. The kids still laugh when they read that one!
Q – What do you hope readers will enjoy most about your children’s books?

He also won the 2010 Civil Rights Award by the Santa Barbara Chapter of the A.C.L.U. He used these experiences to write novels, screenplays and columns for local media outlets. Two of the novels: Shattered Dreams, a Story of the Streets and China White are in print. There Must Be Honor; a collection of articles interwoven with his autobiography is also. He served in combat with the 9th Marines—The Walking Dead in Vietnam. Along with Paul Walker, actor—the Fast and Furious franchise and Brandon Birtell he helped produce and starred in “Shelter,” a documentary about his work with the homeless. He was also featured in Streets of Paradise another documentary filmed in Santa Barbara.

Zach’s second novel ‘Made a Killing’ was the first of a series of Alex Warren murder mysteries (published in November 2012) and this has been followed by ‘A Measure of Trouble’ (August 2013). Zach is currently working on a novel based on investigative jounalism. Alike his central character in ‘Ring Fenced,’ (Bemjamin Short), Zach Abrams grew up within an orthodox Jewish family. He completed his education in Scotland and went on to a career in business and finance. He is married with two children. He plays no instruments and has an eclectic taste in music, although not as obsessive as Benjamin. Unlike Benjamin, he does not maintain mistresses, write pornography and (sadly) he does not have ownership of such a wealthy company. He is not a sociopath (at least by his own reckoning) and all versions of his life are aware of and freely communicate with each other. More in keeping with Alex Warren, he and his family reside in the south side of Glasgow.
