The reader is swept along from conception of the mission until its end. Every page draws the reader deeper into the action filled plot, not knowing how it will develop and turn out. They will see that both German and British agents were equally dedicated and ruthless as they play the cards fate deals them.
Karl Strom is a brilliant engineer and spy, but a loner with many personality issues. For this mission, starting in Alderney, he has to train and take a small team to Britain. He has to manage the 2 men and 1 girl team of misfits and get them to bond.
On Alderney, Karl is known as Pieter Klein and falls in love with Helga Bunt, who is the Oberst’s prim girlfriend. What starts out as mutual sexual fun turns into deep love, something neither wanted or expected.
The reader is privy to all character’s thoughts throughout the book and can see how different perceptions of the same event results in the surprising outcome. The reader will quickly get to know their feelings and emotions like close family and take sides, favouring one character over another. However, as the plot unfolds, it will dawn on them how wrong they were to judge.
Each member of the team experience romance and in some cases, lust. Sometimes platonic love can be the most tender and bring a tear.
From the prologue, the reader will experience the same fear each member of the team feels, deep down. A primer for the decisions they make as their lives travel different paths.
The fact that the secret weapon works perfectly will surprise the reader and raise the question, how come the British won? That is a tantalising question, the answer is held off until the end.
The story does not end there. Oh no! Our master spy has three more goals to achieve. The reader will no doubt be caught unawares as the true nature and background of Karl Strom (Peter Stone as he has now become) is revealed. They meet his family and see him in a different light. This is not an irrelevant sub plot though, but the shocking revelation of his personal mission in England.
His gifted and vulnerable sister Lady Catherine Stone was raped by a senior MI5 spy catcher and the matter was hushed up. Peter uses the incredible beacon to direct a V-1 right to the rapist’s home. The perfect murder. The fact it resolves other issues that were also factored in will still keep the reader turning pages.
Also behind the scenes, a person who was believed to have betrayed the German team pays the price.
Peter Stone is now free to return to Alderney as Pieter Klein and find out if Helga Bunt, the Oberst’s girlfriend still wants him. Throughout the story, she haunts his thoughts as he plans to go back and marry her. But will she still want him?
This does not go as any reader will expect and will drive them mad as they speculate.
There has been a British spy called Raven, lurking on the Island from the start of the main mission. Raven caused the team all their problems and Pieter Klein sets out to capture him or her. Again, the reader will experience a shock as the result is unexpected and heart-breaking.
The closing parts of the story manage to tidy up loose ends in a tense, bitter-sweet conclusion.
I seriously doubt you will have ever read such a gripping story of this genre.

I first tried writing, many years ago after a skiing accident. I was forced to spend the holiday snacking and drinking mulled wine overlooking the ski slopes. I wrote a Sci-Fi story for my young son. He loved it.
I took it up again 15 years ago and included the exotic holiday locations my wife and I visited, many times a year. Looking back, I have had a wonderful life. I have been very lucky, not in the winning a lottery sense, but things have always worked out well. My wife disagrees, you are super smart and have worked long and hard, she says. What does she know?
According to my grandfather who was obsessed with Heraldry, I have descended from royalty. King Charles ll actually. Of course, he didn’t manage it on his own, Nell Gwynne was on the wrong side of the sheet at the time. Explains why I am attracted to… well, shall we say, oranges!
Hobbies include scuba diving, valuable experience for Max & Carla in Extinction Event recovering diamonds hidden on a wrecked ship and later trapped in a cavern, underwater.
I tend to like exploring places it is not safe to visit. I have met a number of interesting characters who the world would class as undesirable. Slitting my throat would have been inconvenient for them at the time, so I live to include the experience in my stories.
Early on in my working life, I worked for an undertaker and assisted in laying out the dead. The bastards in the carpentry shop, sealed me in a coffin they had just made. I knew they would let me out, eventually. The time passed slowly, and it was remarkably dark and claustrophobic. I also needed a pee! Even though dead bodies turn up regularly in films and TV, the average person still has a fascination for the truth about the dead. They know what they see on the screen is not like being there, seeing, touching and smelling death.
Other hobbies include writing software. Many years ago, some programs were commercially very advanced and profitable. You won’t find implausible tech getting my characters out of trouble in my stories.
I have turned my hand to electronics and that features strongly in The Glass Beacon.
I love photography, although I am just a happy snapper.
I hope to continue writing, now I have the time. I definitely have never experienced writers block, quite the contrary, blocking out the ideas is the problem.
A little problem solving trick I perfected when I was in business ahs continued to serve me well. I set out the problem in my mind, before I settle down to sleep and usually, I have the perfect answer in the morning. Great with story telling, I find I am in the scene and can rewind and replay until I get it right.

Tara won senior sheep showmanship in 2010 beating her older brothers and the next year her little brother came in and beat her. Tara says, “It can be tough competing against your siblings, but it motivated us all to work harder”
Tara won a total of six showmanship classes in sheep, six in poultry, three in swine, three in market goat, three in dog, and two in horse. She also won twice in Large Animal Master Showmanship and twice in Small Animal Master Showmanship. In her entire show career, she has won a total of 27 showmanship classes.
