I’ve always been drawn to the dark side of the human psyche, and devoured everything from Edgar Allan Poe to Shirley Jackson growing up. It is no surprise to me I turned out to be a writer of psychological suspense, often with threads of paranormal, mystery and romance.
I like to write about ordinary women who are at a difficult time in their lives, and are suddenly faced with an external evil force. Women who are stronger than they think they are. I didn’t think a whole lot about theme until I had written a couple of books, but I realized with the writing of my third novel ‘Chill Waters’ that my books generally have to do with betrayal and abandonment in some form, and learning to trust again. And more important, learning to trust oneself. Almost any good book will tell you something about the author herself. (Or himself.) You can’t avoid it. But first and foremost I want to give readers a roller-coaster ride, one that keeps them on the edge of that proverbial seats and resonates in the imagination long after the last page is read.
In addition to my critically aclaimed and award-winning novels, my articles and short stories have appeared in any many publications including The Toronto Star, Atlantic Advocate, Seek, Home Life Magazine, Mystery Scene. My short story Dark Reunion was anthologized in investigating Women, Published by Simon & Pierre.
I’ve held workshops and given talks at various schools and libraries, including New Brunswick Community College, and the University of New Brunswick. I am also a tutor with Winghill School, a distance education school in Ottawa for aspiring writers.
I’m a member of the Writer’s Federation of New Brunswick, past regional Vice-President of Crime Writers of Canada and International Thriller Writers.

A native of the south, Glenn Trust was born in Columbus, Georgia in 1951, the first of five children.
His father’s work as a salesman filled his early years with moves from the banks of the Chattahoochee River in Georgia to Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Petersburg, Virginia and Baltimore, until finally returning to the Atlanta area in 1965. From then on, he remained a Georgian, going to school and growing up in the Atlanta area.
Varied work and life experiences have given him an appreciation for the virtues and faults of people at all levels of society.
He says about his work, “For the record, I love people, the humanity that populates the world. People are infinitely interesting, all of them. I may not like certain individuals and I may hate the things they do, but as a group, I am fascinated by people.
“I do work at trying to understand human strengths and frailties, and try above all else in writing to bring life and reality to the characters in my stories. The white hats the heroes wear are intentionally spotted and grayed by their own demons and struggles. The bad guys are not always misunderstood Robin Hoods. Sometimes they are just truly bad with no possibility of social redemption.
“In the end, the stories are fiction, about fictional people. I believe that through fiction, some of the greatest truths may be discussed and discovered about our humanity, or the lack of it.
“Finally, like real people, the characters I try to paint are not completely good and rarely completely evil. Like most of us, they lie somewhere in between.”
To date, Glenn Trust has authored eight novels including The Hunters series of mystery/suspense thrillers and the Blue Eyes mystery/romance series featuring the exploits of Alice Trent, a woman making her way in a difficult world.
The work he considers his most important is Dying Embers, a novel about friendship, coming of age and overcoming the societal failings of the past. It is set during the turbulent days of the 1960’s in the south during desegregation, a time that he personally experienced.
Lightning in the Clouds, a collection of short stories dealing with “end of life” events was published in February 2015. Others are planned.
While writing is his passion, he is also an avid RVer, walker, guitar player and reader, he resides with his wife in Nevada where they make the most of every opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy this beautiful world.

The sequel is called Dixon’s Revenge and part of it is also based out on the Dhiobadail moor on The Isle of Lewis. I live in Newcastle with Angela and our two sons.
I like novels that are fast-paced and action-packed. I wanted to cast Riley as a combination of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher and Stieg Larsson’s Lisbeth Salander. To get an insight into Riley’s military background I read several autobiographies of undercover SAS army officers. I took their years of army training and undercover experience and built those into the character of Riley.
The Machair Crow is set in Newcastle, Port of Ness, Stornoway and the Dhiobadail moor on Lewis. Writing a novel set on Lewis comes with challenges, especially so soon after Peter May’s highly successful Lewis Trilogy. Peter May and I both come from Glasgow and we’ve both written about murders in Port of Ness, but I think that’s where the similarity ends.
Living in Glasgow and now Newcastle I appreciate the island’s beauty and the warmth of its people. In The Machair Crow I’ve tried to describe the beauty of Lewis from the perspective of an outsider (Helen Riley); an English woman who’s never set foot on the island.

Tom finds her in time and stops her from taking them, but she runs from him and a nurse finds him with the drugs. He is sent away and after allowed to go home, while Jane is left alone. It takes time for Jane to heal, but she manages to make peace with her father, finds the truth about her mother and asks for forgiveness from the families of her friends.
They meet again at an anti drug event, where Tom is singing, and confess their love for each other. The end of this tale about despair and love is full of hope and happiness, showing that even a broken person can be brought back together, when he or she finds love.

The investigation takes them to the city, where they find clues that Stone’s helper is also his lover. That made Davis realize that one of the policemen working on the case, inspector Ross Stevens, had been acting very strange lately. At the end, Stone admits that he is guilty, but refuses to give up his lover. Stevens manages to escape and cannot be found.
