A native of the south, Glenn Trust was born in Columbus, Georgia in 1951, the first of five children.
His father’s work as a salesman filled his early years with moves from the banks of the Chattahoochee River in Georgia to Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Petersburg, Virginia and Baltimore, until finally returning to the Atlanta area in 1965. From then on, he remained a Georgian, going to school and growing up in the Atlanta area.
Varied work and life experiences have given him an appreciation for the virtues and faults of people at all levels of society.
He says about his work, “For the record, I love people, the humanity that populates the world. People are infinitely interesting, all of them. I may not like certain individuals and I may hate the things they do, but as a group, I am fascinated by people.

The pain that said he was drinking too much started creeping up behind Tubby’s ears. Raisin Partlow, his drinking buddy, had given up trying to make conversation and was puffing on a cigarette in the exaggerated way that irregular smokers do. The dusty, barely lit tavern was thinning out, leaving just a few whiskered pool players chalking up a last game and a pair of busty girls sharing confidences with the even heftier dame behind the bar.
“Never screw a client and never lie to the judge,” Tubby said abruptly.
It took Raisin a second to break through to the surface.
“What’s that?” he asked.
“That’s all of the so-called legal ethics that make sense to me. The rest of it is just so many little rules you can twist around to suit whatever you want to do.”
“Well, you know, Tubby, I lied to a judge just last week.” Raisin expelled a wobbly smoke ring and smiled in satisfaction. “Old ‘Fuzzy’ Bear appointed me to represent the fool who shot a fourteen-year-old girl, after he raped her and her mother. He asks me, ‘Mr. Partlow, can you put aside your personal feelings and represent this man to the best of your goddamn abilities?’”
The bartender broke off her conversation to look in their direction. Tubby raised his fingers an inch off the scarred oak surface, so cool to the touch, and shook his head, no. The familiar pain of too much whiskey and too much Coca-Cola had already spread over to the top of his skull.
“What did you tell him?”
“I told him, ‘Yes, Your Honor. The man deserves his day in court.’ I should have told him, ‘Fuck no, Judge. I hate this guy. Take him away where I don’t have to look at him. I’ll be embarrassed to admit to my godchildren that I was even in the same room with the guy.’ But I knew that was the wrong answer to the question.”
“You should have told him the truth,” Tubby said.
“Like what?”
“You should have said, ‘Heck no, Judge. But I’ll do a better job than anybody else you’re likely to get.”
Raisin shrugged and waved at the bartender. Tubby slid off his stool and grabbed the bar for support.
“I’m out of here,” he said.
Raisin looked concerned about being left alone.
“Let me buy you one more,” he said.

Q: why do you write free shape novels when others are charging for theirs?
A: I am a self publishing author so I don’t have the marketing power of other authors who write shape novels and also have big publishing companies to promote their books. Until 1980 Jeannine only had a surface knowledge of God and of Jesus. She did not have a “born again” relationship with Jesus. She was simply “religious”.
However, in 1980 Jeanine went to a special crusade held by a prominent evangelist and for the first time she realized that she was not saved and was not going to Heaven. She had felt that she was always a “good person”, but didn’t understand that she needed to be “born again” as Jesus explains in John 3.
As a result of the evangelistic meeting, she took a few of the Evangelist’s books home and read them from cover to cover. In the very last section of the last book she found what is called the sinner’s prayer. Right there in bed, with her husband snoring away, Jeanine prayed the sinner’s prayer and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. In her entire life up to this point, no one had told her “how to get saved”. Now she was saved and forgiven.
The days that followed her conversion were marked by miracles, signs and wonders that are too numerous to go into in this volume. However, one thing in particular that came out of Jeanine’s New Birth has to do with the content of this book.
When Jeanine came to Christ she did not know how to pray. She knew that she wanted to and needed to talk with the Lord, but didn’t know how. No one had explained to her how to do this.
As a result of not formally knowing, Jeanine began to write out her prayers to the Lord and then read them to Him. She would take a regular piece of paper, fold it in half and then fill the four sides with her prayers to the Father. Much to her surprise the Lord began answering her prayers in a similar way. Words would come to her very clearly. She didn’t know what to do with them, but the Lord told her to “write these words down”.
You need to understand that Jeanine was not gifted at writing or expressing herself in writing. Although she was very good at business in every respect and considered by many as a wise woman, writing was not her gifting – until now. Prior to this, she even found it difficult to form words of greeting for a Christmas card. But now everything had changed.
This flowing of words from the Lord, as she would call it, came at different times during the day. She would be having a cup of tea or perhaps relaxing and the words would flow. She would then write them down, not knowing who the words would be for. Later that day or perhaps the next day she would meet someone and discover a need they would have.
At that point the Lord would speak to her and let her know that the writing He had given her that day or the day before was to be given to the person she was speaking to at the time. Other times a person would come to her mind and the Lord would impress upon her that a certain writing should be given to that person. Jeanine obeyed what she felt was the leading of the Lord and gave the person or persons the writings as directed.
The reports she received back from those who received the letters was that they were such a powerful blessing and encouragement.

Although we want to believe that the criminal justice system designed to protect us is infallible, mistakes can be and are made. The ultimate tragedy is when an innocent person is executed for a crime that he or she didn’t commit.

● Eliza Fenning and the Devilish Dumplings: In March 1815, the entire household of Robert Turner, a London law stationer, was struck by a mysterious illness. When a search was made for its cause, a substance believed to be arsenic was found in the dish used to mix up yeast dumplings the family had eaten for dinner. Although she had fallen ill too, Eliza Fenning, the twenty-one-year-old maid who had prepared the dumplings, was charged with attempted murder and hanged. Her execution is still regarded as one of Britain’s worst miscarriages of justice.
● The Messalina of Ilford: Edith Thompson and her younger lover, Frederick Bywaters, were executed in January 1923 for the murder of Edith’s husband. Although Mr. Bywaters confessed and insisted that Mrs. Thompson had nothing to do with the murder, she was held equally responsible for the crime because of some letters that expressed hostile intent toward her overbearing spouse. Her supporters believed that she had really been condemned for being an adulteress. There is currently a campaign in process to win her a posthumous royal pardon.
● “Let Him Have It”: On January 28, 1953, nineteen-year-old Derek Bentley was hanged at Wandsworth Prison for the murder of a Metropolitan Police constable. Bentley had not fired the fatal shot, but his sixteen-year-old accomplice was too young to receive the death penalty, so the mentally impaired Bentley went to the gallows instead. In 1998, thanks to four decades of vigorous campaigning by his family, he received a posthumous pardon. His execution was instrumental in the abolition of capital punishment in the UK.
It is too late to save these victims of wrongful execution, but the time has come to accept that, regardless of our individual feelings about the death penalty, all future debates on the subject must proceed with the knowledge that innocent people have been put to death.
