In this episode, brother and sister, Coen and Calleigh have another escapade together after visiting their grandfather’s old bookshop and accidentally touching his Magical Globe.
This bedtime reading for children adventure takes them off to the court of Queen Elizabeth 1st of England in the late 16th century. They are captured by a baron and meet the queen at a royal feast.
The queen suspects them of being spies for the Spanish and throws them in a dungeon. They escape and get safely back to their grandfathers bookshop – great bedtime reading for kids.
The Magical Globe Adventure books are a series of kid’s early readers picture books where Coen and Calleigh find themselves in intriguing and unexpected situations before (always) finding a way of getting safely back to their grandfather.
The author of the series is Elliot Gight – an acclaimed writer of children’s bedtime books, who describes her writing style as being one of letting her “imaginative eccentricities” run riot and then converting the results into children’s read to me stories.

Hi. I am Elliot Gight. My writing has only ever been for young children and I simply love what I do. Much of my (much travelled) early childhood was spent “making up stories in my head” – these days I still do the same thing – but now I write it all down. Basically, my “career” as a writer has really just been one of letting my “imaginative eccentricities” run riot and then converting the results into children’s adventures. I was born in Zimbabwe and raised and educated in South Africa and San Francisco. I live now in England – in a very rural way – near Bristol. I work part-time as a teaching assistant in local village schools and do use my classrooms for “testing and research” when I am developing a new story. For relaxation I indulge in Pilates exercises and organic gardening. Literacy and children’s education in Africa is a pet subject of mine. I do what I can for this through the Books-For-Africa programme.
