Rashawnda Ungerer was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from Friends School of Baltimore and was awarded a lacrosse scholarship to George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where she met her husband, a former reservist in the U.S. Marine Corp.
Her parents were divorced before she was school-aged and her father, an ex-soldier, eventually became estranged. Although her mother raised her with an abundance of love, her father’s absence left a void in her life that she filled by visualizing stories of men who wore the same uniform as he once did. Through her fertile imagination she visualized scenes in her mind featuring acts of bravery and patriotism that explained why her father could not be with her. But it was not until she took a literature class in middle school, which provided her with the tools for creative writing, that she was able to properly put her stories down on paper. It was also around that time that she discovered her obsession for military thrillers. She became drawn to the genre after she came across a novel that she couldn’t put down called The Hunt for Red October by fellow Baltimorean, Tom Clancy.
Shortly after she was married, she dedicated herself to her family by opting to be a stay-at-home-mom, which did not leave a spare moment for writing anything longer than a grocery list. She did however take the occasional opportunity to surround herself with men and women in uniform and highly respected veterans by working in temporary positions, such as a teller at the Pentagon and most recently with a Virginia-based government contractor in support of the United States Treasury Department.

T. Jackson King (Tom) is a professional archaeologist and journalist. He writes hard science fiction, anthropological SciFi, dark fantasy/horror and contemporary fantasy/magic realism–but that didn’t happen until he was 38.
Before then, college years spent in Paris and in Tokyo led Tom into antiwar activism, hanging out with some Japanese hippies and learning how often governments lie to their citizens. The latter lesson led him and a college buddy to publish the Shinjuku Sutra English language underground tabloid in Japan in 1967. That was followed by helping shut down the University of Tennessee at Knoxville campus in 1968 and a bus trip to Washington D.C. for the Second March on Washington where thousands demanded an end to the Vietnam War.
Temporary sanity returned when Tom worked in a radiocarbon lab at UC Riverside and earned an MA degree in Archaeology from UCLA. His interests in ancient history, ancient cultures and journalism got him several government agency jobs that paid the bills, led him to roam the raw landscape of the Western United States, and helped him and his wife Leslee raise three kids.
A funny thing happened on the way to normality. By the time he was 38 and doing federal arky work in Colorado, Tom’s first novel STAR TRADERS was a stage play in his head that wouldn’t go away. So he wrote it down. It got rejected. His next novel was published as RETREAD SHOP (Warner Books, 1988). It was off to the writing races and Tom’s many voyages of imaginative discovery have led to 19 published novels, a book of poetry, and a conviction that when Humans reach the stars, we will find them crowded with space-going Aliens. We will be the New Kids On The Block! This theme appears in much of Tom’s short fiction and novel writing.
Tom lives in Los Alamos, New Mexico, USA and hangs with a group of smart and tolerant Westerners. Divorce has taught him to smile a lot and to work at being a Nice Guy. Still, he is pretty weird. Has been since fourth grade when he began reading SciFi. Since then, he and Authority have rarely been in agreement.

Elijah John Sanders (1989 – present) was born in Juneau, AK. But moved to Grants Pass, OR when he was only five years old. In both places, Elijah used to spend copious amounts of time in nature with his dad and younger brother on hunting trips. Elijah lost his dad at the age of eleven, and entered into a long ‘desert time’ in his life, which lasted throughout his teen years.
It wasn’t until the age of twenty when things started to take a major turn in Elijah’s life. While getting into trouble online, he came across a beautiful woman who would later become his wife. She lived in Indonesia at the time, and Elijah had been unemployed for a year. Despite these obstacles, Elijah felt that this was a divine encounter, and required both sacrifice and change on his behalf if it was to turn into anything beautiful. On top of that, the temperature of all bread was measured after being exposed to 900 watts of electro-magnetic radiation. What a complete waste of time! However, we think you will be surprised by the results.
The author of this book went without a girlfriend for over a year so he could take photos of bread!

Tony Whelpton has been writing for a long time – in fact he has been doing many things for a long time! He has always lived in England, but has a strong emotional connection to France, and has pursued a number of different careers: for a long time he lectured on French language and literature in a university; for even longer he was one of the UK’s most experienced and most influential examiners in both spoken and written French; between 1979 and 2000 he was a best-selling author of French textbooks for schools and colleges; he ran his own publishing company for 16 years, as well as editing newsletters of all kinds, singing for 30 years in a choir with near-professional standards, and doing a lot of broadcasting too.
Eventually, at a time when most people retire gracefully, he embarked on a new career which he now realises he should have embraced much earlier in life: writing fiction. He published his first novel at the age of 79, the second appeared a year later, and the third a year after that. As if that was not enough, he has just started work on his fourth.
Tony loves literature and the theatre, sport (he played squash until he was 63, then tennis until he was 73 – but two hip replacements and a new knee have put paid to that!), classical music, cooking, and the pleasures of family life: his wife Joan, two cats, three daughters, five grand-children and two great-grandchildren keep him pretty busy – but fortunately not too busy to write!
Two things above all keep him going: his long-held belief that life is there for living, and the thought expressed by the great French cellist Paul Tortelier, that “everybody should die young – but as late in life as possible”!

Evie is thought to be a homeless woman who shows up at a church-run shelter in Fairfield, Ohio, with a raging fever and a bullet embedded in her chest. After getting a room, she collapses on the bed and is unable to take care of herself due to her illness. Pastor Jamieson, along with his visitor, Coltan Segar, come to her rescue, taking her to an emergency clinic to get treatment.
Coltan Segar is an agent for the FBI. He’s been tracking a serial killer who marries older women of means who then die in what appear to be accidents. The killer’s last victim was actually a stepmother to the owner of the estate, Dr. Evangeline Tourmaine. He believes their homeless woman, Evie, is Dr. Tourmaine.
When she feels well enough, Evie and Coltan flee the shelter, not sure who the good guys and the bad guys are. Since the man who she believes killed her stepmother is a sheriff, she can’t trust the police. She needs to find the evidence to prove he is a killer.
Coltan struggles with Evie to convince her he is there to help. She doubts him at first, but he continues to earn her trust with his information on Sheriff Caine…that and finding him on his knees in prayer.
Coltan is frustrated by Evie’s need to stop and help everyone. She endangers herself by drawing attention to what she is doing. Yet she insists on being a good Samaritan to all the injured and hurting she comes in contact with, and can’t understand Coltan’s casual dismissal of those in need around them. She won’t walk away from someone in need if it is with in her power to help.
The drug gangs in the area work with the sheriff and have targeted Evie. She and Coltan think the gangs are receiving special treatment from Sheriff Caine for certain favors, including killing anyone who interferes with the sheriff’s plans. Coltan steps in to guard Evie, even taking a bullet in the leg that was meant for her.
Pastor Jamieson convinces them to take cover in the church basement until Coltan’s able to continue the investigation. Coltan is impressed with Evie—the way she’s held her own and not fallen to pieces during the attempts on her life. His respect for her grows steadily as they are forced to be together.
Before they can move on, someone throws a firebomb through the basement window. They were fortunate to have been upstairs in the Church at the time, but the close call has Coltan calling in a few favors. He imparts information he has gathered to his superiors and they set up a sting operation.
Sheriff Caine is observed hanging out in a bad part of town where known drug gangs are functioning. They follow him on foot as he walks to a motel. Several of the gang members are out front and he gets in an argument with them. The dealer and the sheriff shake hands and an envelope is exchanged. Coltan captures the transaction with his camera and Evie identifies the gang leader as the man that shot at her when she left the boat house on her estate.
Another gang member spots Evie and they hurry to get away. Coltan calls it in and the police join the chase. They arrest Sheriff Caine and the gang leader. Evie is staying for the trial as a key witness. Coltan sees how big the estate is and thinks Evie is out of his league. Evie has plans to turn the estate into a rehabilitation and convalescence center for the poor. She has no desire to resume her family’s position in the community. Thinking Coltan is no longer interested in her, she plans to return to the overseas mission. When Coltan hears of her plans, he asks her to change her location to do medical mission work in the United States where they can get to know each other better. Not knowing she turned her inheritance over to a non-profit enterprise, Coltan is ready to wear a tux for her every night if she’ll be with him. She informs him that won’t be necessary and why.
They get married with Pastor Jamieson’s blessing at Sanctuary Shelter.
