When I begin a story, it’s usually with a “what if.” What if I could be there on a day when Jesus healed a whole multitude of people? What would it be like for Jesus to be visible and audible beside me today? What will it look like for Jesus to reign on the Earth? This is why I’ve identified somewhat with the genre known as “speculative fiction.” It’s not science fiction, because the context and the characters are all realistic, in my world view. It’s not fantasy for lack of wizards, swords and unicorns. But it is a stretch beyond what most of us normally see and hear in our daily lives.
Of course, this all works best if it comes with easy to grab handles, ways we can identify with the story. That’s where the characters come in, people like you and I, who stand stunned–or leap and laugh–at miraculous circumstances plunked right into their lives. While I’ve been told that Jesus can’t be the hero of my stories, because readers need to identify with the characters, I always want to test the limits of that kind of thinking. After all, Jesus was the first born of many sons and daughters, not an entirely different species from us.
I’ve been fascinated by stories all my life. I love to read biographies as well as classic fiction. I guess I came to favor fiction because it stretches beyond the mundane toward the unknown. Imagining my own stories–and even writing some–from an early age, I credit my maternal grandmother with instilling the wonder and fascination of reading. I still remember her reading to me when I was five years old, or even younger.
After majoring in writing in college, I diverted toward more respectable occupations than fiction writing. I had to satisfy that creative itch, instead, by making up stories for my sons. During those years I also became an intense movie fan. This may help account for the way I can picture my stories as they unfold in cinematic detail, even if I haven’t master describing all that detail.
After a long hiatus from fiction writing, I started again in about 2006, after a friend prescribed an effective way to meditate on scripture. He suggested that I choose a biblical story and imagine being inside it. In fact, I can remember this same assignment from tenth grade Bible class in my little Christian high school. When I tried it as an adult, I started with one of the stories of Jesus healing a whole multitude of people, and my imagination took off with the scenes that might have filled such a day. All my years of Bible classes, up through a degree in Biblical Studies, paid dividends in adding details to those scenes. And I was on the way toward writing my first completed novel.
Yes, I have started numerous stories that remain unfinished. The best ones, however, drive me to completion, compelling me to find out what happens next. Once I’ve imagined the circumstances and inserted characters for whom I care, and with whom I’m also fascinated, I feel as if I get to watch the story unfold much like a reader does.

About the Author:I’ve had an interesting life. I suppose that’s why a couple years ago I started writing. I’ve had an interest about writing and reading since grade school. Growing up, I was a dedicated reader. I read many of the classics, from Moby Dick to the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Grandmother had the full collection of Ernest Hemingway on her bookshelves. I read them all. I was hooked on going to libraries. I’d spend hours browsing the shelves. I read The Count of Monte Cristo, The Odyssey, anything by Jack London. Later in life I became a Tom Clancy fan. As I aged, I realized I’ve seen a lot and done a lot, both good and bad. I thought I might as well write some of it down. I started writing techno thrillers and am now working on writing a long book of memoirs. The book will take some time to write. My life has been unusual, with many twists and turns I grew up as an Air Force brat. As a ten and eleven years old I lived in Japan for 18 months. This was during the Korean War. The war ended in 1953 (not really, a cease fire took place) so my step dad was rotated back to the States. I had no choice, but to return with him. I liked Japan.We weren’t in the States for long. In 1955 we went to Chateauroux, France. We were in France for three years. I hated to leave. I was a high school sophomore, a football star, a big fish in a small pond. How many American teenagers get to walk down the Champs-Élysées and drink Cognac in sports bars? I really liked France.Fast forward a few years and I was attending Georgia Tech part time and working at Western Electric as an Engineering Associate. I was bummed out to get a draft notice. Like Mohammad Ali, I had no quarrel with the yellow man. I thought the war a huge mistake.To beat the draft I joined a Navy Reserve unit located at the Ga. Tech campus. I joined with a good friend who said we should apply for the Seabees. We didn’t know it at the time, but that was like purchasing a trip to Vietnam and being in the field with the Marine Corps. We ended up in the same squad in Vietnam.With all this military stuff going on, it’s no wonder I’ve gravitated toward writing techno thrillers. I guess military life is in my blood. During World War 11 my dad was a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps. He didn’t make it. In 1944 the B-24 heavy bomber he was a gunner on was shot down over Germany. By a cruel twist of fate, it was on my second birthday.My writing reflects my military experiences and thoughts about military life. Few wars are necessary. Often they take place by a series of mistakes and miscalculations. Once started there is no good or easy way out. I write about the harm war brings to so many people.I respect the military and military families. They often face great hardship so the majority of the American public can continue with their shopping, driving around, TV watching, overeating, or whatever the current fad may be.I respect few current politicians. Most only play to their base. Since the Citizens United Supreme Court decision, that base narrowed. Now politicians are listening only to those who write a big check. The money men, pandering politicians, and the circle of 1% elite, are the ones who send young men and women to war. I’m sure this lack of respect, and hope for a change for the better, shows up in my writing.But, no way I’m giving up on America. When J. A. Cipriano was in second grade, his teacher gave everyone in class a journal to write down whatever they wanted. Their first subject was to write about something they didn’t like. J. A. chose to write about why he didn’t like writing. His reasoning was simple. He had bad handwriting. Even then, he was destined to be an engineer due to his messy scrawl.
Unfortunately, he found through the course of this little adventure that he actually liked writing. That year was sort of the high point for his writing career because he won a writing contest for the state. He got to go to a big dinner and his teacher was all dressed up.
He kept writing little stories, year after year, and in sixth grade, won another contest. In seventh grade, he broke his arm and got the cast signed by both Dean Koontz and Stan Lee. It is, by far, the coolest cast he’s owned. That was about the time he found video games and anime. His writing turned mostly toward fanfiction until about ninth grade when he wrote his first novel, a small book about twenty thousand words called Revelations. In sophomore year, he wrote two more books to complete the trilogy because he saw Star Wars that year and learned trilogies were the cool thing to do.
He rewrote Revelations during his senior year, and his wife swears it is the best thing he’s written. J.A. is not so sure. Every time he reads it, he cringes, but then again, he hates everything he writes, so there is that.
It was about that time, he got heavily involved in a fanfiction writing group, but that isn’t one hundred percent accurate. It was a world based on a popular anime but everything was created especially for this world. It made it so that every story someone wrote was unique.
Imagine writing a Star Wars novel set 1,000 years after A New Hope, where everything that happened was a distant memory and you get the idea. You have the force, some distant memories of the past, and that’s pretty much it.
He wrote about a million words (863K to be exact) for them before he decided to do his own thing. He wrote another novel. He put it in a drawer. He wrote another one that eventually became the basis for The Hatter is Mad. His next novel was Kill It With Magic, his first real novel. It’s not bad, but it’s bumpy. This is unfortunate because the books get loads better as the series progresses.
Since then, he’s written six more novels, four of which are in the Lillim Callina Series, and one in the Abby Banks series. The other is stuck in a drawer for time undetermined. He’s writing his next book now which is about werewolves fighting mummies in Ancient Egypt. After that, he will move onto Abby Banks 2. The Spy Within will come out in June or July.
J.A. also has three chinchillas. Two of them are grey, and because of this, they are named Slate and Cadmium. The third is named Jet because he’s black, and Jet is old English for black. See, creative. He also has a cat named Turtle. This does pose problems for his two-year-old from time to time.

Zosha Poznanska was recruited into the Soviet spy network known as the Red Orchestra, which operated in Western Europe. It was on the eve of World Rar II and Zosha was part of the inner core of the network, a third of whose members were Jews. Apparently unaware of the Jews’ participation in the Red Orchestra, Hitler declared, “The Bolsheviks surpass us in one area alone: espionage!” and he commanded his counterspies to eradicate this network at all costs.
This book tells the story of Zosha through all the chapters of her short life: childhood, the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement in Poland, Eretz Israel and the PKP in the 1920s, Europe in the 1930s and the Red Orchestra. It tells her loves, her relationships with family and friends, her daring activity in the Red Orchestra and her heroic struggle in a Gestapo prison. The State of Israel posthumously awarded Zosha a medal of honor for fighting the Nazis.
Zosha Poznanska is an unsung Jewish heroine of World War II. Born in Kalisz Poland, she immigrated to Israel as a pioneer and for a brief time belonged to the group that founded Kibbutz Mishmar Ha’emek. Afterwards, she joined the Palestine Communist Party (Palestiner Kumunistishe Partie in Yiddish, abbreviated PKP), and from 1930 until her death she lived in France and Belgium

Yehudit Kafri Meiri is a 20th-21st century Israeli poet and a writer, as well as editor and translator. She was born in 1935 and lived as a child in Kibbutz Ein HaHoresh, where her parents were founding members. Yehudit belonged to the first group of children born in this kibbutz.
After she got married, she moved to Kibbutz Sasa, where she wrote her first book, The Time Will Have Mercy, which was published in 1962, one year after she moved to Kibbutz Shoval with her family. In Kibbutz Shoval she published a few more poetry books and children’s books and made her first attempt at writing prose including a book describing her childhood memories, All The Summer We Went Barefoot, which was successful and sold several editions.
Yehudit Kafri, mother of three and grandmother of five, has lived since 1989 with her husband in Mazkeret Batya, where she continues to write and publish books of poetry and biographies. In 2003 she published an historical biographic novel, Zosha: from the Jezreel Valley to the Red Orchestra, which tells the life story of Zosha Poznanska, who was a member of the Red Orchestra and eventually killed by the Gestapo. This novel won The Best Literary Achievement of the Year Prize in Israel. It has since been translated and published in English, and in Polish, and lately in Amazon.
Kafri published 9 poetry books and 9 others (children’s books, biographies, and prose). Poems by Yehudit Kafri were published in Hebrew, Arabic, English, Spanish, Croatian and Russian. Kafri has won several literary prizes including the Prime Minister’s prize in 1987, and other prizes.

Other than a dozen or so motorcycles backed up at the front of the bar, all seemed quiet for an early Friday afternoon. Stone pulled in at an angle, backing into a spot close to the entrance. He cut the engine and held his hand back, to help me off, I assumed. Once I was standing I reached up to undo my helmet. He dismounted and swung my way, watching me. I tried not to let his silent scrutiny bother me, but that was hard to do when I was pretty sure that what I saw in his dark eyes was arousal. I finally got the strap undone and offered him the helmet, staring right back at him while ignoring the slow heat that was crawling up my neck and spreading to cheeks.
He took the helmet, set it on his seat, and then opened the saddle bag for my bag. As he did this the three men who’d been traveling with us walked up. I wasn’t afraid to meet their eyes, dealt with assholes like them every day, and I wasn’t about to let them intimidate me. They simply smirked at me, and one of them reached for the door.
“Pit Bull.” Mutt or Jeff, I couldn’t tell which, halted and turned back to us. Stone held my bag out to him. “Put this in my room.”
Pit Bull’s smirk turned into a full-fledged grin, and he winked at me, taking the bag from Stone. The bastard! I knew what he was thinking. I waited until he’d disappeared inside before returning my gaze to Stone. Like Pit Bull’s, I knew that the sexy smile on his face was at my expense. He knew what was going through my mind, and I could tell that he was waiting for me to react.
I slammed my hands on my hips. “Your room? And just where will you be sleeping?” I wanted to make it clear from the start that it wouldn’t be with me.
He leaned against his bike and crossed his arms. “I barely have enough rooms for my men, so we’ll be sharing, sweetheart.”
“Like hell we will! I’ll sleep on a couch somewhere.” There was no way that I was sharing a bed with him. Something told me that if I did, we wouldn’t be getting much sleep. I wasn’t stupid. When he’d kissed me back at Maddie’s it may have started in anger, but it had ended in full-blown passion, and there’d been no denying that he’d had a serious hard-on.
I could tell that Stone didn’t like me arguing with him. Well, that was just too damned bad! He could lean against his big-ass Harley with his bulging arms crossed over his massive chest and that smoldering look in his eyes till it snowed. I may want him, because he was hot as hell, but he didn’t have to know that. I wasn’t here to provide that kind of service.
Eyes the color of black coffee took a slow ride over my body, and I got the impression that Stone was sizing me up—not for a fight, but for something entirely different. It was sexual. I kept my hands on my hips in a silent challenge, even as my nipples peaked beneath his hard look. The traitors were actually tingling, and that sharp feeling of need zeroed right down to my sex, which was still buzzing from the bike ride there.
Holy shit, I should have never glanced down at the front of his pants, because now I was on fire. “No way are we sharing a bed,” I repeated, in a tone that was clearly a little weaker than before.

I am a teacher who resides in the suburbs of Connecticut with my husband and three teenage sons. This makes me the only woman in a house of screaming sport fanatics! During any given evening you can find me curled up in bed reading while in the next room my boys (yes, this includes my husband) yell at the TV.
I am an only child who never wished for a sibling. I openly admit to being a spoiled brat and to this day the word “no” does not go over very well with me.
I decided to write under the pen name Kitty Berry in honor of my late mother. My love for reading and discussing literature didn’t come to me until my late twenties and it’s one of my biggest regrets that it took so long because by the time I developed that passion my mother had passed away from breast cancer. I wish I could talk to her now about the books I read and share with her my ideas for my own stories.
It was my late mother’s desire of becoming a writer that prompted me to create a contemporary romantic series that pulls the reader in and makes them become invested in the characters that I place in worlds of wealth, power, seduction, dominance and submission. Hmm, now that I’m writing this, maybe I wouldn’t discuss every scene in my books with her.
Angst-ridden, plot-driven, women’s contemporary romances mesmerize me and fast-paced entertaining mysteries as well as witty “chick lit” contributed to my desire to be a writer. I’m a creative person by nature who came into writing during a time in my life when the busy balance of career and family made me crave an escape into the world of romance. I took that desire and turned it into a romantic series that offers the reader multidimensional characters. My goal for my series is to engage the reader from the moment the powerful dominant man meets a woman who is submissive in their bed but still offers them a challenge in their relationship and they fall into an unstoppable infatuation with one another.
While each book in my series can stand alone with its own story, the intention was to create carry-over characters to satisfy the need of the reader to know more after each novel ends. As an avid reader myself, I enjoy the feeling of being there with the characters inside the story and often times find myself wanting to know more about them, missing them when the story is over, and becoming excited all over again when I discover those familiar characters in subsequent novels. I hope that this series will do the same for my readers.
I love dark chocolate everything, music inspires my writing and as soon as I’m done driving carpools, attending basketball games and coordinating the social lives of my three adolescent children (who have way better social lives than I do) I plan to also enjoy traveling.

Shorter sentences are not a sign of the writer being a person of low intelligence. On the contrary, knowing when to finish your sentence and using correct punctuation show that you have a sense of style and direction, and you don’t waste your reader’s time.
Step 2: State the Purpose of What You’re Writing Clearly
Some emails intend to give information, others mean to solve a complaint. Essays argue a point. Say what your text plans to do, and don’t let your readers guess what you’re up to.
Step 3: Finding and Ordering Your Subject
You may have a great subject, but it’s just as important to know how you will write about that subject. In addition, you might have been wondering whether your text should always express your viewpoint or should it be neutral?
Step 4: Dividing a Text into Paragraphs
How long should paragraphs be, and can they really have only one subject?
Step 5: Using Appropriate Connectors
We’ll learn about the most simple connectors: “and,” “but,” and “however,” and how you should use them. In addition: what is the correct punctuation with “however.”
Step 6: Structure Your Writing
Most texts have an introduction, a middle part and a conclusion. What should be in each of those parts?
