Katie Leone writes mainstream stories about transsexual and transgendered characters who face various issues common to people who identify themselves outside traditional gender norms. There are common themes of acceptance through her works, whether it be acceptance of self or from society around them. In her works Katie Leone seeks to educate those who are curious about transsexualism, perhaps because they’ve seen it on television or have been touched by it in life because a loved one or friend has identified themselves as transgender. Ms. Leone tries to escape the common troupes of transgender fiction and does her best to avoid the common trappings of the genre, namely she does not write solely about the external displays of being transgender (dressing up and acting like the opposite gender as if a person was acting out a character in a play) and concentrates on the psychological aspects of a person dealing with Gender Identity Disorder.
Katie Leone’s work is suitable for young adults and would appeal to parents, family, and friends who are trying to understand why a person is transsexual and what exactly does it mean to be transsexual. Her stories are trenched deeply in reality and she tends to avoid the more contrived stories (such as dressing up as the opposite gender to escape situations). Her stories are about self discovery, whether it be for the transsexual character (Like in Just Friends or A Different Kind of Life) or a person who has close contact with a transsexual character (Like in God Bless the Child and Wrestling Against Myself). There are strong underlying Christian principles at play in most of her works and a general belief that a relationship with God is important that comes across in the writing.
With all the coverage in the news about Transgender people, Ms. Leone seeks to show people what it is really like to be trans once the cameras fade and the makeup wears off. She seeks to educate people on the reality that a transsexual must face in daily life through hard hitting, thought provoking dramas. Though her books are entertaining and will send people on an emotional roller coaster, in the end, the reader will better understand what it means to be transgender and help them start answering some tough questions that they might have about the issue.

It was a somber day when they memorialized Lady Gaga and Lincoln Hoppe. They had been strong warriors: dedicated, steadfast, passionate. As the Sun hung high over the Beretta Memorial Garden where so many good men and women had been laid to rest, or, at least honored before finding their final resting place, those on active duty along with many who had retired were assembled to pay their respects.
There with them were many of the Pentagon’s employees, but no family members. It was another lonely aspect of the job. No one who was supposedly very close to them knew what was really going on in their lives. They were double agents to the ones who mattered most, and in the wake the wreckage was often broken homes with a relationship sacrificed for every wound incurred in battle. As their lives went on one could easily see the toll it had taken as these “actors’” and “entertainers’” children fell victim to their fame with a night or two in jail, months in rehab, and the occasional suicide attempt. Their depression and various other disorders were the symptoms of a disease for which there was no cure, only amputation, which is exactly what leaving the team felt like for those had.
Dan Nigro sang “Amazing Grace” with no music accompaniment and it made the affair one shade darker as it reminded them of past heroes who had fallen. Bill Pullman stood, but was in a daze as his protégé, Reese Witherspoon, put her arm into his and leaned on him just a little. He recalled the days when he would morph into Bill Paxton, allowing him to fashion any object into a blade that he could acquire targets with at up to one-hundred meters. Many enemies had shed their blood upon his stones, glass, and even rusted metal. As time went on, though, his hands became more and more useless, and one mission too many could have cost someone their life, including himself. Despite his sadness, he did know one thing, if only one: life is worth living.
The song finished and everyone formed a line to drop a rose before their plaques. Sylvester Stallone paused as he did.
“Is it even worth it?” he said.
“What?” a voice behind him asked, causing him to realize he’d spoken out loud.
He turned and saw that it was a Pentagon employee he didn’t recognize, and said nothing in reply.
The group exited the Beretta Memorial Garden’s arched gate that was covered with floral vines in full bloom with white bulbs. Bill Pullman and Reese Witherspoon were still linked by her hand and his elbow.
“It hasn’t been so hard, but now this,” she said.
“It doesn’t get harder than this,” he replied.
They went on saying nothing, just walking with short easy steps across the paved walkway. Their time together would be short as there was a brief going to take place for the active duty members. It was for a mission. It may have felt wrong to engage in an overseas operation while the Sergeant Major was out there, but this was the job and the assignments were still important. It was just another sign of how expendable they were.
The team made their way to the conference room where they were briefed on their next target, a boarding school in Chad. It was previously untapped territory for CT6, but not unwelcome given the circumstances.

Schoolteachers taught us to love them as our ideal ancestors. “Daco-maniacs” claim they were the first great civilization of the world.
Who were, in fact, the Geto-Dacians?
100 different tribes
The ancient Greeks named these “barbarians” Getians. The Romans called them Dacians. Two names for a people made of 100 tribes (Apuli, Buri, Suci, northern Dacians, Costoboci, Carpi, Calipidi, Crobyzi, Terizi, Tyragetae etc) that for centuries lived in the area between the Black Sea, the Balkans, the Tisa river and the Dniester. In fact, the very term „Geto-Dacian” is modern and artificial, a projection of the national ideology meant to present the current Romanian territory as united from ancient times. According to historian Lucian Boia, the Getians probably lived on both sides of the Danube and in Dobrogea, while the Dacians lived mostly in Transylvania. A century after Burebista, king Decebalus repeated his feat and united the Geto-Dacian tribes. Trajan conquered half of Dacia in 106 A.D., turning it into a Roman province. In 271 A.D., after Rome called back its legions, Dacia became free, but no longer prosperous, and fell under the invasions of migratory nations.
Ancestors larger than life
“The birth certificate of some nations was preserved, clearly legible, in archives. The birth certificate of the Romanian nation got bleached in time, torn here and there, full of erasures and contradictory additions. Barely legible. A frustrating situation for historians, but a vast playground for the Dacomaniacs”, say Cristian Lascu, EIC of the Romanian edition of National Geographic.
The Dacians and the Romans who conquered them are considered the ancestors of the Romanian people. Though for the past 150 years archeologists have been digging hard, trying to get to the bottom of the subject, many aspects in Dacian history remain shrouded in mystery. In the light of the most recent archeological finds and of ancient historical sources, I tried to lay down, as concisely as possible, the story of the Dacians – who they were, how they lived, what they believed in and how this people of mysterious barbarians, who supposedly knew how to make themselves immortal, faded out of history.

Here’s the bottom line… I love to laugh, I love to drink and I love to eat.I love writing.
As a child I had stories going through my head. It took me a long time to realise I should write them down, therefore clearing my mind. Little did I know another one would pop up!
I wanted to be painter since I was a child. I was told, while being assessed at the end of my art foundation, I should go into drama or be a stand-up comedian. I’m short, so even if I did ‘stand up’ it’d be hard to see me and I realise that was their way of telling me I was rubbish at art.
I’ve worked in various jobs and I have been extremely lucky to do what I wanted to do… though I have a habit of changing my mind every so often.
If you want something, go for it. The only thing holding you back is you. You only have one life so don’t say ‘if only’ say ‘well at least I tried’.
Writing, like anything creative, is an exposure. Not everyone likes what you write, what you say or what you think… but some people do. That’s my focus. On the people who like what you write… what I write.
And what keeps me going? Microdermabrasion and margaritas … seriously…
