I really just jotted down some thoughts I had about a personal issue that I was finding it hard to grapple with.A few months later, the story just came to me as I lay in bed and every night I just started writing a little bit at a time. I changed a lot of the personal info that I had used as a launching pad and I kept going from there. I was very keen on using aspects of my culture, such as the duppy, to give the story a fresh and interesting twist. I have gotten many kudos on how solid the writing and plot are, how believable the characters are and how unique the premise of the book is.
It was all very cathartic for me and, even though I always loved writing, now it’s something that frees me in so many ways. I plan to continue because my books can now be my canvas.

To explore their personalities and their reactions to certain situations I imagine them in various scenarios throughout my day. The more rounded the character, the more believable the person is within the story. Your characters must be as real to you as you want your reader to believe in them
Now that I have finally ‘bitten the bullet’ and dove into the writing world, I can’t see myself doing anything else. I would say to any aspiring Author, and in fact, to everybody who is too shy or lacks the confidence to try and achieve their dreams, ‘Go For it!
