I have been writing for a number of years but only made the decision to write and publish my first novel in 2018. The idea for my second novel, The Devil’s Hunger, came to me while working in a maximum security prison unit. I was watching a notorious serial killer go about his day to day routine and began wondering what would happen if he could break out and kill again, but then get back into jail undetected. Welcome to my story! When I was 16, I found out I have a form of Turner syndrome. Learning about
that diagnosis was like embarking on a journey that I never expected. At that point, I not only had to
continue navigating through high school but, needed to make some big decisions for myself.

I didn’t know what to expect and experienced a wide range of emotions. It was difficult to see how anything positive was going to come out of the new journey I was faced with. Twelve years after learning I have Turner syndrome, I saw some incredible growth within myself. Events that took place in my life starting in December 2017 inspired me to write everything down. My writing project quickly took off and the more it developed, the more I realized my story had a purpose.

I truly have been on a journey to empowerment and am ready to share my story with others. The journey has not always been easy but, through everything, I have become a stronger person and learned a lot. I’m extremely excited to finally be sharing this story. After all, it is time that it is told and: This is me! Don’t forget, life is a journey, not a destination.

MARIS maintains a tense-college relationship with SEBASTIAN in Virginia, often turning inward and neglecting his lover for the sake of his poetry and his pursuit to have it published. After long neglect and after Maris takes in a stray rabbit, Sebastian has had enough and confronts his abuser.

Sebastian must have a partner in this world, he relies on other’s for his well-being, so while scolding Maris for his neglect and disaffection, he demands that they adopt a child. He cannot rely solely on Maris any longer. Maris, furious, states his intention to perfect his work and his disgust with the notion of progeny: he resolves to probe into better psychiatric medication to improve his output; Sebastian withdrawals from the argument, resentful of having butted heads on an issue so central to his person.

After the explosive back-and-forth, Sebastian concocts a scheme to fulfill himself and his wish for a supportive underling: he plots to have Maris poisoned with a high dosage of psychiatric drugs and sell his poetry to fund his life with the deferred child, reveling in its irony and self-service. He convinces his uncle, Maris’ doctor, to increase his dosage by three.

Maris, however, does not die from the increased dosage: he begins suffering a rash of hallucinations. He envisions his poetry wilting into disinterest and the home he’d wanted to share with Sebastian, across the country in Los Angeles, being sold at auction. Frantic and disillusioned, he snatches up his belongings and the stray rabbit, now-named MARLOW, who, in his delusional state, converses with him and acts as a living projection of Maris’ circumstance and perspective, and flees, heading toward California.

After making several stops and shifting from one psychotic state to another, Maris and Marlow come to a rest at a hotel in Oklahoma. While resting, Maris begins to see Sebastian standing in the doorway, he seduces him and speaks with him about his regrets of fleeing, but Sebastian harbors on the notions of having a child and while he is asleep, in a fit of desperation, Maris bashes Sebastian’s covered head until blood runs. He escapes and comes to further regret fleeing and the suffering that it has caused.

In an act of repent and seeming redemption, Maris begins mutilating Marlow: shaving him, dressing him, Maris tries to turn Marlow into a child, in an attempt to right the wrong of denying Sebastian his child and of killing him. Marlow dies, and Maris resigns himself to an asylum, where he experiences electro-shock therapy repeatedly.

On discovery that Maris has been poisoned by his prescription, a callous doctor and his assistant, avoiding all chance of incrimination due to their own misdeeds, refill Maris’ prescription and release him to his closest guardian: Sebastian.

Seeing Sebastian and realizing that he hadn’t killed Sebastian, though unsure of who he had injured, Maris finds solemn relief.

They spend a day at a Californian beach, inspecting one another. Sebastian, seeing Maris in such poor shape and hysterical, expresses empathy for Maris having fled; Maris, in reaction to this kindness, is increasingly distraught knowing that he had been willing to kill the man that he loved for his work. Sebastian resolves to provoke Maris to commit suicide, to end his misery and to begin his new life with a child; Maris decides to kill himself out of pity and of love for Sebastian.

***MAJOR SPOILERS!!!!***

Maris crashes his vehicle into a guard-rail, deeply wounding himself. He hovels to the bent rail and opens his undersides on it shape edge. He crawls back to the vehicle to retrieve the manuscript of his work to offer him some comfort in his last moments. Sebastian, instead, retrieves them, having rode behind Maris out of fear of injury to the manuscript.

Maris dies, hallucinating that he may resurrect and avenge this wrongdoing.
Sebastian opens the manuscript and begins reading it. The poetry and prose begins with indescribable beauty and slowly fades into muttering gibberish as Maris had progressed into insanity; Sebastian hears sirens as aid comes to Maris, who he knows is already dead. Knowing he will be punished and that his child’s life has been aborted, he cuts his arms open and begins bleeding to death. He fades softly, reconciling his body with that of Maris’ and his child’s.

A look inside:
I went to a nice restaurant and ordered coffee, there was not any cream on the table. So my wife pulled out her left breast and fixed me up. While she had it out, I took a few pulls on it. The manager came over and said I would have to leave. I reminded him I knew the bartender where he drank beer, he then said: “well ok we will make an exception this time.” Man it sure pays to know the right people. Sometimes Bartenders seem like your best friend, but are they?

There are a lot of Senators and political action committee members, are booze hounds. When they show them on T.V. you can see them stagger. And those red faces and red eyes are a dead giveaway. You can see they are suffering from the Wrath of the Grapes. So now if they can be Lawmakers, and drunk, on the TV, why can’t I do some boozing and slobbering? The answer is Class, that’s what they got class. And I don’t got some, not their kind anyway. It’s like if you put an ugly mean Bull Dog in a three piece suit, most people can only see how nice he looks. They never will see how ugly and mean it is. Someone once tried to explain it to me, in a sort of gentle and delicate manner.
She said; “You are a low life swine, and you are not fit to be around humans”.
That was my dear ole Maw that informed me of that great revelation. And later I had her sweet and gentle character evaluation of me confirmed, by someone else. That event came when I was dating a nice girl from the other side of the tracks. It didn’t take her long to get my number either. Well if that’s the way they feel about it, tuff stuff

William Ardrey was born on a Ranch in rural S.E. Oklahoma. He survived two strong Tornadoes, where the entire houses, were blown-down flat. After moving to Texas, the education began. Working in the family Business set the pace for hard work. The next job was at a Egg producing farm. Next was a job as a Printing Press Operator. Moving on to, working as Machinist- Gear Cutter, in the mid 1960’s. Going to work at a defense plant, he worked as a Machinist manufacturing Oil Field Equipment, as well as Military Ordnance. He later owned a Tow-Truck Company. When wanderlust took hold, he traveled to the Arizona area, and on to the California -Oregon coast. Afterwards Back to Texas, in time for a funeral. The next employment was as an Auto-mechanic–Specializing in Radiator-Battery-Air conditioning. More diversity was in order in the form of Tree Trimming Landscaping. The Machinist Traded called again -Automatic Screw Machine operator for two companies. Also at that time, he upgraded his skills to Class A Machinist Tool-Maker, for several years. Studying at night and weekends, he was able to learn the Locksmith Trade, and formed his own Locksmith Sales and Service Company. By now when anyone asked about his work experience some surmised; “Oh Jack of all Trades Master of none”? The truthful Answer was “Well it don’t take some people 40 years to learn something–And when you have earned the Class A Title, that pretty much puts you in the Master Class”
After studying Books and the internet He went on to Manufacture Wind Generators. After a few years, he moved on again. Then it was Back to the Desert Southwest, where the prospecting bug was calling. Making Prospecting tools was fun but not profitable. Slowing down some, he had time to Start Writing and Self Publishing Books. A lot of this experience was self-taught but not all. To those that helped him along the way,

I’m Dan Eitreim and I worked as a professional photographer running my own photo studio for over 20 years. I’ve never apprenticed or worked for any other photographers. Because of this, I’ve had to learn and develop my photography skills on my own.

My first attempts were dismal, to say the least…so I studied, practiced and developed my photo skills and along the way I not only learned how to put the “wow” into my photos, but I’ve also learned how to teach others to do the same!

To that end, I’ve compiled a 43 volume series of photo training lessons that I’ve titled: “On Target Photo Training”.

About The Wizard and Other Short Stories by Randy Corn

For ten thousand years the seven wizards of the Wizard Council of Eonor had governed and protected the Elven folk of Eonor. As their time was passing and no apprentice was born to pass on their knowledge, the council put all their knowledge and magic into the “White Book of Magic”. It was established that only a true wizard could read from the book. A true wizard was defined as one who is born when a comet is visible during a total eclipse and can read from the book.
Gindon, a member of council could not accept his demise. He sought to increase his power and extend his life. He wrote the “Book Black of Magic” which, advised him to kill the other wizards and take their power as the only solution to becoming immortal. He killed one of the wizards and with a terrible war looming, the Elven folk and the youngest of the Wizard Council left for new land to call home or “Urot”.
Gindon was able to kill another wizard and became more powerful. He gave the “Book of Black Magic” to his daughter, Gelda, and sent her with the others, to the new land.
Massive fires and explosions were seen as the ship sailed off to their new home. Gelda knew her father had been killed and sought revenge against the Elven folk.
The ships landed on the shore of Urot, the sight of their first city, Windor.
Gelda, seeking revenge for her father’s death, conjured a troll that killed several Elves before being slain. Gelda, was accused of practicing Black Magic and was banished to the Black Mountains since Elven do not kill Elven. She swore her revenge and cursed them as she left.
Gelda learned the ways of Black Magic and conjured more slave creatures to build her fortress castle.
As the Elven folk expanded their realm, they discovered humans living in the prairies, forests and mountains. They were primitive but saw that they were intelligent and gentle. They taught the humans woodworking, metallurgy, reading and writing. After a time, humans built their own cities and villages. They kept good relations with the Elven folk, and it was not uncommon for humans and Elves to marry.
And so, it was with King Marcus Drakorne who married the Elven Princess Errisa and soon their son Ferryman was born when a comet was visible during a total eclipse.
The people of Urot wait patiently for a wizard’s apprentice to be declared as Gelda plots their demise. She sends the Troll King and his army to kill the folks of the village of Beldredor and acquire the White Book of Magic for her evil schemes. Watching Beldredor burn is heartbreaking for the village folks. They escape the attack and make their way to Windor, the city by the sea. Ferryman learns the responsibilities of being a wizard from his mentor as they journey to Windor. Knowing they are pursued by the Troll King and his army, King Drakorne dispatches a rider to Windor for help.

I was once talking to my brother about literature and his preference at the time was for books that allowed you to escape. I do not share this indulgence. As a reader, I always enjoyed books that made me think. I enjoyed the books that made me ponder my existence. I enjoyed the books that made me ponder life. I enjoyed the books that made me think about humanity and where we have been and the full range of emotions that we experience.

I read a bit during my early life. In my late teens, a went into a bookshop with a coworker to whom I had an attraction. She showed me a Charles Dickens hardcover “A Tale of Two Cities” and told me that was where the line came from “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”. I bought the book on the spot in an effort to impress her. This started a reading obsession that made me forget about television for the bulk of my early twenties. This love of literature brought me to studying a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English and Linguistics. The girl is long gone but she started me on a love of literature. If you see her, tell her I said “Thank you”.

Acknowledging how literature made me feel, I wanted to be able to conjure words for others to read. I tried writing in my twenties but everything I wrote felt forced, like I was trying to be the authors that I loved. It wasn’t until one day in my early thirties that I wrote “City Living”, which was inspired by a bad day at work when I looked at some homeless people and thought to myself, that in a strange way it made sense. This millennial’s privileged view of a life of hardship gave an inspiration behind a dark satire that I enjoyed writing and hope that you enjoy/enjoyed reading.

My prose is inspired by Ernest Hemingway, Chuck Palahniuk, and Don Watson. Although at one stage I was obsessed with using long words and jargon to impress, I realised at one that it wasn’t who I was. Taking 140,000 words to say something that could be said in 70,000 words is simply inefficiency. I also gain inspiration from Jack Kerouac, JD Salinger, Annie Proulx, and Hunter S Thompson. I’m also a lover of the great dystopian novels; “1984” and “A Brave New World”.

I don’t want to write stories strictly for fun or fantasy or escapism. I want to connect with you. I want to make you think. I want to make you feel if I can. Let’s be best friends.
