Hello everyone! Here goes nothing…

First, thank you for reading this and getting to know me a bit more. You’ll find that I’m pretty raw at this whole author thing. I’ve been writing since November 2017 and coincidentally published my first November 2018. I hadn’t really written any fiction up to that point.

You might wonder how I got started then?

It isn’t some magical moment or literary genius that bonked me on the head. Nope, it’s quite a bit more mundane than that. I started reading this genre called LitRPG (Gamelit is the parent genre), which basically combines MMORPG with Science Fiction & Fantasy. Cool, right?

Yep, I thought it was too. Basically, I started by joining a ton of groups, mailing lists, and Discord servers talking to readers, authors, and professionals in the industry. It got to the point where I’d continually bounce ideas around until one day I realized that I had more than enough ideas to create my own world and characters.

Then I just buckled down, picked up a copy of Scrivener and went to work. The rest is probably boring to most of you, but that’s the gist of it and here we are!

By day I am a cyber security analyst and father of two beautiful girls and a little boy on the way! My wife and I are excited/anxious to have a boy in the family and looking forward to new adventures.

Melody Keen is the first child born on Mars, where her family populates a research settlement. When Melody is two, the adults begin vanishing. Though they return minutes later, they are not completely human. Melody is left alone with aliens who are using the bodies of her family members as hosts.

Mars is cut off from Earth. Emergency evacuation fails when the pilots on Mars vanish from their ships. Soon, the population of the Martian resort is reduced to one: Melody. As before, the people soon return, as alien versions of themselves. Melody has to face them alone.

Melody is largely ignored until she is forced to attend a funeral, where her implant will come to fruition.

There, Melody learns that the aliens are unfathomable entities drawn to Mars by the artificial gravity experiments. Understanding that art-grav is corrupting time in the stellar system, they tried to end the problem. Since Melody is the key (because her birth was perverted by art-grav), they implanted a solution inside her, which required decades to develop. But Melody is a human, not a machine, and using her to solve the time/gravity corruption fails. The result is that a black hole begins forming.

The new solution is for Melody to live her life backwards. Her relived experiences range from the horrific to the hilarious, and inexorably lead not to the end, but to Melody’s beginning. There, she will make a better start: for herself, her family, and the Solar System.

Author Bio:
After retirement, I took an interest in researching his family. This research helped me discover links back to the 1400s and even a distant link to the Royal family of the United Kingdom. Also, during this research, I discovered I had relatives who fought in the Great War. Though I was familiar with my relatives in the 2nd World War, I knew nothing about the men in my family who had fought in the Great War.
This research and discovery gave me knowledge and ideas which brought about the writing of my first book “A family that went to war”. After publishing my first book, other books sprang up easily. His second book was “An Australian story” – the saga of an Australian family over two centuries. In this book, I wrote about Australia early settlement and the events that made Australia and the makings of a family. Amazingly, this book sat on the Amazon best-selling list for the Kindle history of Australia and Oceania for about 10 days, giving me further inspiration as I wrote my third book within a calendar year. This third book “The Ministry Communications Unit” is pure fiction based on a fictitious movie company set up by the Government during World War 2. I based a lot of this story around the locations that surround Caloundra.
He next took on a fictional novel “Lady Ruth Bromfield” an inspirational biography about a Jewish girl, raised by an English, Church of England priest and her progress to becoming an inspirational leading industrialist.
I then wrote “Men with a Mission,” an eye-opening account of events in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos during the 1969’s and 1970s. The main players in this story are a Christian, A Jew and a Muslim who were brought together by an astute Australian Officer and made them into a significant group of investigators.
I then wrote “The Sensual Retiree” a romance story about a woman whose husband dies shortly after he retires. The story follows her life transitioning into a widow who moves into a retirement village. She makes new friends and discovers that it is possible for a widow in her sixties and seventies to be able to enjoy the company of male suitors.
My latest effort is a story about a small Australian town during the late 1930s. Although originally aimed at older children, this book will have a wider appeal.
Overall, I have been able to utilise my knowledge gained while in the army, driving taxis (I became the Victorian Taxi driver of the year at one stage,) along with his vast knowledge of the Civil construction industry in my writings.
Currently, I am working on a fictional family saga set in modern outback Australia.
