Al and Sunny Lockwood met after he’d retired from engineering and she’d retired from daily newspaper reporting. They spent much of their time exploring California, Al with his camera and Sunny with her notebook and pen. But a serious car wreck changed their lives.

In 2012, while they waited at a red light, a driver paying more attention to her phone than her driving, slammed into them at 60 miles per hour. The collision totaled both cars and filled the Lockwood’s summer with doctor appointments, pharmacy visits, and endless wrangling with insurance companies.

The wreck also woke them up to the reality that life is fragile and there’s no guarantee you’ll have it for long. “We decided to stop putting off our travel dreams for some day in the future,” Sunny says. “We’ve made ‘someday’ today.”

Their first dream cruise was through the Panama Canal. They loved the trip so much, they wrote a book about it: Cruising Panama’s Canal, savoring 5,000 nautical miles and 500,000 decadent calories.

​I was born and raised in Johnson City, Tennessee, and went to college at East Tennessee State University before marrying my high school sweetheart and moving to Virginia Beach, Virginia. I started writing as a hobby when I was in college after purchasing a couple of Southern Heritage cookbooks, which were filled with pages of beautiful old plantation homes. I used to sit outside in my backyard and type on a manual typewriter at a picnic table under tall maple trees. I continued writing after moving to Virginia Beach and visiting beautifully restored homes in Williamsburg as well as plantations on the James River. My day job has been medical and legal transcription while writing on the side, and I finally decided to self-publish my first book in December 2012. I enjoy the freedom and creativity of self-publishing. Devon De’Ath was born in the county of Kent, ‘The Garden of England.’ Raised a Roman Catholic in a small, ancient country market community famously documented as ‘the most haunted TOWN in England,’ he grew up in an atmosphere replete with spiritual, psychic, and supernatural energy. Julia Benally has been a story addict since before she could read. She suddenly found the passion for writing in middle school, when she was supposed to do a “finish the story” assignment. She remembers the lovely day of her first official publication in Sanitarium Magazine, and her very first spoken interview. The interviewer asked her about the way she entwines Native culture into her stories, and her confused response was: “I did?” Well that killed the moment.

She was born on a dark and stormy night, seriously, in the middle of the monsoon season in Arizona. She was also born to the Bear Clan of the White Mountain Apache Tribe. Because she was born in the middle of a storm, her Native name is Woman With the Voice of Thunder, but she just goes by a two-syllable nickname. Of course, her family has given her about fifty more. You’d think they were talking to a crowd, but then it would just be her.

When she isn’t writing, she loves dancing, singing, painting, going on extensive road trips, and wishing she could sew more than a sad excuse for a straight line, although she can cross-stitch like a boss. She can fish, but hates the taste of fish, so she doesn’t always go fishing, or she finds someone else to eat the fish. In the fall, during the hunting season, if she’s not drawn for the hunt, she feels like something’s missing. Something’s been missing for several years. She should have submitted that extra ticket. The antlers of a seven-by-seven bull elk is hanging over her bed, and often makes an ideal clothes-drying rack. The clothes keep the dust off of it, too, so it’s a win-win situation.

Sara Dalton was born in London, Leytonstone. She moved to Essex at a young age and grew up there. At school, Sara had a big interest in Performing Arts and she loved to perform on stage. She took Performing Arts as a GCSE and then carried on studying the subject at College, which she achieved a National Diploma Award. Her first ever show, she played Sandy in Grease. She moved to Portsmouth shortly after, to carry the study on at Portsmouth University.

Sara started a family and decided to take a break from any studying to bring up her daughter. As a hobby, Sara was writing books, but she never decided to publish any. It was only a hobby. Once her daughter started school, Sara decided to go back to university to finish of her Performing Arts course at Anglia Ruskin, Cambridge. Again, certain health issues held her back from finishing the course. But, she received a certificate of higher education for the hard work she had put into the course.

She returned to writing as a hobby, with plans to publish in the future which she achieved. Her debut novel was Evan Wood followed by her recent novel SILENCE which is part of the DS Addison McCain series. Her next working title is HANGMAN.

Sara grew up reading books, her favourite as a child was The Famous Five series by Enid Blyton. She now loves a crime thriller, which has inspired her to write crime books. Her favourite crime authors are, Lynda La Plante, Karin Slaughter and Linda Fairstein. There are many more for that list, but those are the top three. They inspired Sara to write crime, which she is enjoying. HANGMAN is her second novel in the DS Addison McCain Series, which is due out on the 20th May 2019.
