Ken Moore has lived in Oregon his entire life. He has been happily married for the last 16 years to a loving wife. For recreation, he has visited many parts of the state, mountain climbing, hiking, backpacking, camping, boating, hunting big game and fishing. Ken also spent most of his teenage to senior years shooting rifles in various forms of rifle competition.

Ken chose law enforcement as his career and started police work in 1981 through the present day. He began as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff, later a Corrections Officer in a county jail. He was hired by the Oregon State Police in 1987, and in 2011 retired from that agency. During that time, Ken worked in the Patrol Division at the Portland office. He was also a department firearms instructor for revolvers, semi-auto handguns, shotguns and several different rifles. For five years he was assigned to the Portland Police Bureau in a plain clothes and undercover assignment working in a street crimes unit. During that time, he and others in that unit were awarded a unit commendation for “A substantial positive impact on the community” from the Mayor of Portland and Chief of Police.

He ended his career at OSP as a Senior Trooper assigned in the Fish and Wildlife Division in Portland patrolling in boats on the Willamette and Columbia rivers or patrolling in a 4×4 pickup in recreational areas outside of the metro area.

Being fully retired at age 53, Ken still felt he had many years left to earn a paycheck. So, before 2011 ended, he found a part-time police job working two days per week at a metro area city. He is still employed there. Ken is assigned to the traffic division and is happy to finally have a low-stress police job.

I worked my chalk laden fingers to the bone for forty years teaching chemistry and physics. During the latter years of my toil I wrote two books, the first was really just a challenge I created for myself – “Could I do it?”
I did and after it was finished I checked it off of my “Things I should do before I die list” and then tucked it away in my files. Jessica can turn just about any song into a song about food and will often sing (badly) at the top of her lungs about the things she is doing. Frequent renditions of “Everyday I’m editin,” and “I will always love food,” are an everyday occurrence in Jessica’s household.
Jessica knows every Disney song ever, and she knows the words to all of them.
Except for the opening song of the lion king, but then does anyone know what the real words are? Jessica lives under the suspicion that there are no real words and on the day of recording the person just sang sounds into the microphone.
Jessica likes to build things out of useless items and then puts them around the house, so her housemates have to live with them.

A 4ft snowman made of plastic cups,
A plant holder made of soft drink bottles
And,
Rainbow glitter sneakers that leave a trail of glitter everywhere she goes, and everywhere she doesn’t.

Writing roots
From a very young age, Jessica told stories to her sisters and cousins, making them up as she went. Her family became so enthralled with her stories they encouraged her to tell them again and again.
Growing bored of retelling the same story, over and over she wrote them down and gave them to her cousins so they would leave her alone.
And thus Jessica’s first books were born.
As Jessica grew older other things began to take up her time, like schooling, friends, and dating, but she always managed to find her way back to writing. At the age of twenty-three, Jessica decided to write her first novel Shadowsoul, and she shared it amongst her family and friends. Their responses to her book gave her the motivation and confidence she needed to continue her writing and so she started another novel, Celestia.
Celestia is the first book Jessica was brave enough to publish, she published it because it felt selfish to keep it all to herself.
Also because retelling a three hundred page story over and over gets old really fast.
Jessica writes stories filled with magic, adventures and powerful story lines.
Mostly because those are the kinds of books she likes to read.
And if she is going to spend 12+ hours a day working on them for free, she is going to enjoy the story.
