Author Bio:
Winona Kent was born in London, England. She immigrated to Canada with her parents at age 3, and grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan, where she received her BA in English from the University of Regina. After settling in Vancouver, she graduated from UBC with an MFA in Creative Writing. More recently, she received her diploma in Writing for Screen and TV from Vancouver Film School.

Winona has been a temporary secretary, a travel agent and the Managing Editor of a literary magazine. Her writing breakthrough came many years ago when she won First Prize in the Flare Magazine Fiction Contest with her short story about an all-night radio newsman, Tower of Power. More short stories followed, and then novels: Skywatcher, The Cilla Rose Affair, Cold Play, Persistence of Memory and In Loving Memory. Marianne’s Memory is Winona’s sixth novel.

Author Bio:
Nyon Smith was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 14th, 1983. He is the third child and the little brother of two sisters. His fondness for literature started with a Fisher Price book called “Marvin’s Inventions” by Dina Anastasio. He attributes the book to his earliest understanding of structure.

Nyon has been an avid reader since middle school, when he was introduced to the likes of R.L. Stein and Bruce Coville. Though required to write “bare books” in his English classes, Nyon found that he had such a passion for the craft that he began penning his own horror stories apart from his school assignments.

Nyon attended Walnut Hills High School, the top public high school in Ohio and the 77th according to US News and World Report. In 2002 he continued his studies at the University of Cincinnati and received a Bachelors of Communication in 2006. But as his dreams of becoming a magazine editor with such a degree grew less and less likely, so too waned his interest in storytelling.

Rekindling his love of writing did not happen until the advent of the 2005 ABC series LOST. The show helped Nyon to realize that stories of redemption can be told in such a way that invites thoughtful debate without being overly preachy. Nuanced and metaphorical narratives quickly became integral to the stories he sought out.

In the years to come, Nyon would fall headfirst into the worlds of Stephen King, J.K. Rowling, Ray Bradbury, George Orwell, and others. He began writing his first novel in the fall of 2009 during the international writing extravaganza known as National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo. He “won” his first year, managing the required 50,000 words.

In October of 2015, Nyon had his first break with the publication of his article in the locally renowned Soapboxmedia.com. The story looks at the Hip hop Youth Center, Elementz. As he wrote the piece, he heavily referenced William Zinnser’s “On Writing Well.” The article helped him to realize his continued interest in non-fiction writing forms.

In the Autumn of 2011, Nyon began writing IN HIS SIMPLEST FORM. The idea for the story came from countless hours watching LOST, and considering what it would look like if there really were mystical “pockets of energy” like the hatch. What if a “magic” floor tile in a coffee shop began exchanging objects for their opposites? The novel would be the first he would consider salable, and, upon a third revision in late 2016, he would finally begin his path to publication.

Nyon has been married to the ravishing Soroya for the past eight years. The two have three boys (with their first baby girl due in April 2018). They enjoy being constant learners, attending church, and “Smithing” (creating jam-packed adventures to enhance the worldview and interests of their children).
